(Kaiser Health News, April 24) While fever, insistent cough and shortness of breath are typical symptoms of COVID-19, senior adults might not display any of these. Instead, senior adults may seem “off” — not acting like themselves ― early on after being infected by COVID-19. They may sleep more than usual or stop eating. They may seem unusually apathetic or confused. They may become dizzy and fall. Sometimes, seniors stop speaking or simply collapse. As we heard from DAIL Commissioner Elridge, other symptoms could include malaise and GI issues such as diarrhea and vomiting. And, complications from these symptoms can lead to further illness and injury.
