for Ashton Grove
Emily filed a trespass warrant against my father-in-law, and we were informed by police that it was due to “multiple calls.” When we followed up with the facility to understand the situation, management stated that his only actions were touring the property multiple times and leaving after discussing pricing. My father-in-law is currently seeking memory care and is experiencing cognitive challenges that affect his ability to remember prior visits. What appears to have been interpreted as “repeated visits” was, in reality, a direct result of his medical condition and his need for assistance. It is deeply concerning that an elderly individual seeking care was met with law enforcement involvement rather than compassion, understanding, or appropriate redirection. To escalate the situation to the point of a trespass—especially while he is hospitalized—is both alarming and disheartening. I strongly urge families to exercise caution when considering this facility, particularly if your loved one may visit independently. Situations involving vulnerable individuals should be handled with care, patience, and professionalism—not punitive measures.
I visited my mother at this assisted living facility last weekend and was disappointed with the front desk experience. The staff member working the desk was frequently on her phone and didn’t seem very attentive to visitors coming in and out. When I interacted with her, she didn’t have a very friendly attitude and didn’t seem interested in being helpful. What was also concerning was overhearing her gossiping about other employees while sitting at the front desk when I was leaving. That kind of behavior feels very unprofessional, especially in a place where families expect a welcoming and respectful environment. Giving 2 stars because the care staff have been wonderful with my mother and making this transition easier for us.
Ashton Grove stands out with their well trained staff that understands the nuances of dementia/Alzheimer’s They are attentive and care deeply for my Mother. Their leadership is professional, responsive, and kind. I appreciate the overall positive vibe of this caring community.

DO NOT LEAVE YOUR LOVED ONE IN THIS MEMORY CARE FACILITY!!! DO NOT LET THE BEAUTIFUL FACADE OR PERFECT SALES PITCH LURE YOU IN!! After having the most positive tour experience and believing this would be the perfect place for Mom, we were devastated to learn it was all just a very expensive lie with no basis in proper care for someone suffering with Alzheimer's. She was not appropriately assisted with toileting in the way we were promised they would help her there, and in a very short time, she developed a severe UTI with e. coli present. This infection further exacerbated her mental decline and presented in aggressive behaviors, so they sent her off to an in-patient behavior health facility which was how we learned of the infection. Additionally, the in-patient facility discovered that the levels of her meds were so low it was nearly impossible to believe she had been given any of the doses REQUIRED during her stay at Ashton Grove, contributing to her decline. All of this led to her staying approximately 6.5 weeks before it was necessary to find another, legitimately suitable residence for her. At the time of scheduling to move out her belongings, Dad was told he would be due a refund of about $3,000. However, since moving her belongings out of Ashton Grove, it has been impossible to contact anyone, all calls go unanswered, and they seem to have no intention of providing the refund. It is also worth noting that they had him sign all contracts for my mom's stay digitally on their device and did not provide him with any copies of the documentation for his records, which certainly gives the impression there is something to hide in their business practices the same way there is in there "care" for seniors. They also failed to give us 30 days notice that she was unable to be provided care at their facility and would need to be moved (which we would have done anyway after all these discoveries during her in-patient stay), putting our family in the position of having to madly scramble to find a place for Mom with no notice, Ashton Grove refusing to accept her back even temporarily after being the ones to cause this whole problem, and causing even more stress in the process. Ashton Grove seemed like the perfect place for my mom, and it was all too good to be true. It turned out to be the perfect nightmare instead! I cannot warn families against this place enough. Save your family and loved one the stress and despair of what they would be put through at this horrific facility. It if seems too good to be true, it's false advertising!
I rarely leave reviews, but I feel compelled to share my experience with Ashton Grove Living. Unfortunately, my time here has been marked by consistent disappointments and unaddressed issues. To start, the leadership is severely lacking. The director is unprofessional, often dismissive of residents’ concerns, and appears more focused on maintaining appearances than actually improving the quality of life for those who live and work here. Communication is poor, and follow-through is almost nonexistent. There are serious problems within the community that have gone unresolved for far too long. A mice infestation has been a persistent issue, creating a major health and cleanliness concern. To make matters worse, mold is growing in several areas, posing significant health risks — especially to the more vulnerable residents. Despite multiple reports to maintenance, very little action has been taken, and the problems continue to worsen. It’s also clear that the community does not value its residents or staff. Morale is low, and the environment feels more like a business operation than a place where people should feel safe and cared for. The lack of respect and basic accountability is deeply disappointing. I hope this review serves as a wake-up call for management to start taking responsibility and making meaningful changes — for the well-being of both the residents and the hardworking staff who deserve better.
Ashton Grove is a wonderful facility. The staff is very caring and helpful. They are always willing to keep you abreast of things happening at the community. Ashton Grove backs up to a horse farm and the residents are allowed to go down and feed the horses. I would highly recommend Ashton Grove.
All the aids seem to be very caring. Unfortunately, they have not received proper training, or any training until recently, on dealing with dementia. After my constant complaints and concerns, this is being addressed. On certain issues they were to willing to accept a refusal instead of redirection. This seems to be improving
Staff vey accommodating. Faculty very nice and always clean. No odors. Very accommodating.
Food quality is bad Activities very little /staff changes a lot. The facility is clean.
The food is great at Ashton Grove. Overall the staff is very nice and friendly. Most of them know your names of family and friends first name. I love playing bingo but there are not many items you can purchase with your bingo bucks.
My loved ones complaints are the food is never hot and it takes a long time for maintenance to address problems (understaffed). She has made some nice friends and she enjoys happy hour (social hour)She has said the front doors at the clubhouse don't stay open long enough to push the button and then get on her scooter to get inside. She is otherwise very happy living there.
So far things are going well. Facility staff was very helpful in establishing father in facility. I've had some issues with facility procedures that were not explained beforehand ( e.g. scheduling transportation for medical appointments, hiring someone to accompany patient if family not available, etc.) Facility very clean. Therapy staff excellent. Only issue is having to hire additional personnel to stay in patient's room for added supervision when patient was noncompliant. The cost of this was 4X the monthly facility fee. My father complains constantly about the food. Good variety of activities. Overall very happy with Ashton Grove. Friendly and caring staff. Facility is spotlessly clean and odor-free. I would definitely recommend to a friend or other family members. I would also encourage friends and family to get in touch with A Place for Mom. I probably would not have found this facility without their help.
Beautiful facilities and the most wonderful staff!
Beautiful facility. Awesome staff. Amanda is the best!
Beautiful community with excellent staff.
Was very disappointed! They were not capable of adequately taking care of my brother-in-law. Even though they sent a nurse to evaluate his condition to be able to tell us they could handle him. He fell 6 times within his first 8 days they had him. Sent him to hospital each and every time until the hospital admitted him for their care. He never went back to that facility you recommended again!
My mother is in Ashton Grove. She is in a studio unit. It's a very nice facility. The staff is very friendly, welcoming, and nice. The level of care that they give is really good. I can't say enough good things about them. They're wonderful. The food is very, very good. This is a top-notch facility. I don't have anything negative to say. It's good value for money.
Ashton Grove was new, and it overlooked a horse farm. It was very clean and very neat, and it was all on one level. I don't want something where my sister is four stories up there. I wanted her on the first floor, and that's all they had. It's all on one floor. They have a one-bedroom apartment with a living room and a kitchenette. The apartments were nice. For a one-bedroom, assisted living starts at $3600 or $3900 a month, which is not bad for me. The staff who toured me was nice and knowledgeable. She did everything she was supposed to do. The food looked really good. They got chefs on and stuff like that, but I wasn't really hungry, so I didn't try the food.
What our family likes the most about the Ashton Grove community is the location and all of [name removed] help that was given. Based on the experience we have had so far, we would recommend this community to other families.
A phenomenal place to retire! The staff and facilities are top notch. My parents live there and they were so compassionate with my fathers recent passing and I can’t say enough good things about them!
Ashton Grove is a new facility. It's excellent care. I got a great apartment. The facilities are great. The staff has been excellent, too. They have games, summer recreation, movies, concerts, tours, visitations, and a lot of activities. The maintenance is good. They get here quickly to do repairs. The dining area is very nice and very convenient, but the food sometimes is not the best. The value is good, but it's expensive to live here. It costs more than the average.
Went on a short tour there this morning that included lunch. Amanda was amazing with our group from the Scott Co Senior Citizens Center. The office and main facility was very impressive. My only critique would be for the owners to address the one and two star reviews, not just the five star reviews. That says a lot.
The place was amazing when we moved my mother in (approx 1.5 yrs ago). But ever since the previous directors left the facility the level of care and attention has been greatly reduced. On top of the reduced care, they are raising general rates by 15% as well as raising extra care tiers by approx 300%. We understand that inflation has affected us all and can swallow the %15, but 300% on the tiered care????? The timing is terrible due to the complete drop off in quality. Here is an example....My mother has the tier 1 add-on care we have been paying for. The RA would come in and unlock the medication drawer twice a day so she could take her meds. Cost was approx. $250/mo. We sort the meds and take them to her 1/wk. When we pick up the empty pill trays there was usually 2-3 spots still containing pills meaning she did not get those doses. So when we get a memo that states instead of $250/mo for this the rate will increase to $700/mo. Again this is during a pretty big quality down

We contacted the corporate folks and they were in a frenzy trying to deal with all of the backlash. Long story short they changed nothing. This place is 100% about making money. It did not used to be this way I assure you. It is difficult to find another place for my mother as well as a major change to her life/friends. It is placing a lot of undue stress on everyone involved with this place. And it seems this all being done for corporate greed. It may not be that, but it is hard to not see it that way. The folks that live there and their families are reasonable people. The other facilities in the area are wait listed because people are trying to get out of there. It was such a good place when we moved my mother in. It is 100% leadership as it started when the previous directors unexpectedly left. They were awesome as most would agree I think. It is just unfortunate. The easiest thing for everyone (corporate included) would be to return to the original condition. Unfortunately it seems they are either unable or unwilling to do that. Sad.
We have felt that the entire process has been made easier by the excellent help and advice of the staff. Turning our loved ones care over to strangers has been made to feel like we are instead g as ining family members ( the staff!)
The facility and grounds are attractive and comfortable. The staff are kind and friendly. The food is excellent. There are many activities provided for clients. I am confident that my mother will always have good care here.
Ashton Grove is amazing - great staff with a state of the art building. Great food and always super clean. Highly recommend!
It's a great place
Ashton Grove is a wonderful senior community with staff that really cares for the residents . The stunning view of retired thoroughbreds sets it apart! With fun, engaging activities and delicious food, it is a wonderful place to call home .
The facility is wonderful and all of the employees that we encountered during our tour were very welcoming and informative. Finding a place for your loved ones care is a hard decision to make and they were great!
We liked everything about Ashton Grove. They said they are doing memory programs and they are doing studies on seniors and memory. The staff was very helpful and informative. The place was beautiful, but it was out of our price range. If I had the money, I would be very happy to put my relatives there. It looked upscale and very nice, and the residents looked very happy. They showed us an apartment that was furnished. They had a lot of outside grounds and gardens. They also had cottage homes for rent.
I help a gentleman, that is my cousin, with all his affairs. He lost his wife unexpectedly. His health went down from there. He decided it was time for assisted living. We chose Ashton Grove based on a family recommendation. They have someone in memory care. The staff at Ashton Grove have helped greatly with a difficult transition. They all have made Carl feel at home. With their help with his medicine his health has turned around. The facilities are beautiful. Carl loves the day trips and making new friends. I have no doubt Ashton Grove is perfect for Carl.
Wonderful Place great , loving care for your family
It doesn’t take long to realize that Ashton Groves is a special place. The independent cottages are spacious, comfortable & made for dignified senior living. I’d venture that if there wasn’t an age requirement, many more would try to live there; it’s that great! The best feature though is the staff. They have been extremely helpful, considerate, and patient in assisting my mother in law with her move. In fact they checked on her daily while she acquanted herself with the grounds and her new home. Everyone from the restaurant staff, front desk, community relations/move in/wellness team, etc were very welcoming and generous w/their attn not just to my mother-in-law but to us as well. She was impressed that they new her name her first week there! Rest assured that every aspect of senior living is considered here so that they can live as independently as possible for each circumstance. Winston the horse, Luna the dog, and the *amazing* food are just icing on the expertly prepared cake that is Ashton Groves.
Management only cares about themselves and making money. Doing things illegally and getting away with it. , Thinking they are untouchable. They have and are breaking liquor laws, labor laws, fire laws, they are knowingly putting memory care residents at risk. They lie to your face, serve awful food, treat employees so bad they leave, residents families have moved out good people due to the lack of care, cleanliness, daily activities. We need to stop them now before residents start dying off !! Do not believe their lies, management does not care about you or your family member
When we put our loved one in Ashton Groves Memory Care Unit in [date removed], it was an outstanding facility.. After corporate fired the Executive Director and her staff, things trended downhill. Forcing the memorary Care director out then doing the same to her replacement in short order. Things are not going good there any more. Several residents have been moved to other facilities by their families because of a lack of faith in AG leadership. Memory Care standards for Care, food, and activities have noticeably declined. We hope that the new Executive Director and hopefully a permanent fill for the Memory Care Director will greatly improve matters. Comments below reflect the MC Unit, not AG as a whole.
This used to be a wonderful facility where my Grandmother resides. She is in the memory care section. Since January 2022, there has been alarming staff departure, and currently the Executive Director oversees two facilities (Georgetown and Lexington). The leadership is severely lacking (high staff turnover) and now memory care residents have been subjected to less than par food offerings when more desirable food is being served to the non-memory care residents. Just over a year ago, when my Grandmother moved in, there were daily activities for the residents which have now completely stopped. I believe that the RA's love and care for their residents but there is an obvious lack of leadership and concern from the Executive team.
Most of the reviews here are about a year old and I would have agreed that they were fairly accurate then. Unfortunately, in the last several months, there has been major changes in the management team from the Executive Director on down and I think until or unless they replace this E.D., along with hiring, training and retaining resident assistants Ashton Grove is not a safe place for our loved ones in memory care.
The Ashton Grove community is very clean and everything is well kept. The people are friendly and what really was the deciding factor was our mom, over the other communities we toured she liked this one best. She said it felt very cozy'. She is happy there, entertained and never bored.
All the staff at Ashton Grove have been very friendly and supportive, They go out of their way to provide a great sense of community. In the process of moving here they made the process very comfortable . We really look forward to the excellent meals that they provide. We cant say enough how much we love living here and have recommend Ashton Grove to other friends.
I love them. I wish we could've gone there, but it didn't work out. The staff was incredibly helpful, warm, and obviously passionate about what they do. It was a very bright environment, and very clean, and the residents were engaged, and it looked like they were excited to be there almost. There were lots of care options. The rooms were well-equipped with safety in mind. It looked like a perfect setup as far as I'm concerned. My dad just didn't rehab well enough to go there.
Love where I live. I am a resident in a independent cottage which gives me the best of both worlds. I can have my independence but all the amenities and assisted with meals and activities, classes, therapy, beauty parlor events etc.. are available for me. The staff from the top down are extraordinary.
So happy my mother is living here. My sister and I are able to stop by and visit anytime we want. The activities for family gatherings have been great. The staff have been fantastic to work with and are always friendly and inviting . I am beyond happy.
Food choices and quality and variety and personalization of meals. Staff is absolutely wonderful and caring. Willing to do whatever they can to help. They encourage socialization but are never pushy. A beautiful and pushy environment.
My mom has been at Ashton Grove for almost a year. Everyone there is wonderful, loving, and caring to all the residents. They treat everyone like family, always ready to help. It is a beautiful place to call home. I love where she lives.
Have lived at Ashton Grove for one year and so very pleased. Especially now that I am alone; my husband died in June of this year. It was part of his plan to have me settled in our IL cottage before his death. He always thought ahead and I am ever grateful that he did. The caring friends here have help to make this stage of life much easier.
The staff gives their best effort every day in dealing with all of us that function at different levels. The facility is well appointed and great place to live. Most of the residents are happy to live here. Some don't understand why they're here, but others try to help them to adjust. It's a great atmosphere. Laughter is practiced here everyday.
We have lived here 1 year and 7 months. Very well arranged living spaces in Cottage. Management is very willing to work with us to remedy any problems that may have come up. We are very satisfied and happy with our choices to move to Ashton Grove
I would recommend Ashton Grove Senior Living to everyone. Their staff is very nice and is so wonderful to all the residents. My father-in-law lives there. He is treated with such respect. He loves it there. He is 103 years old. They have lots of activities to keep them busy. We love where he lives!
