Reviews
for Bluegrass Assisted Living | Assisted Living & Memory Care
My father (age 91) has been at Bluegrass (Bardstown location) about 2 years now. The accomodations are nice, the meals are well prepared, the management and staff are professional and courteous, and the price is very reasonable. I've recommended it more than once to friends with aging parents.
My mom has been in the memory care section of the facility since June. The staff has been very helpful by making her feel comfortable and safe which is very important with this disease. The food is good and the activities director goes above and beyond bringing her out of her room to participate in activities. They even made a homemade carrot cake for her 90th birthday! Kudos to the staff
I never ate there and my dad did not participate in the activities. He is mostly non verbal now. Nice people and friendly staff.
This is Such an amazing community! They have a very caring and loving staff for all of their residents! They try to go above and beyond just to make the residents smile on a daily basis! Very personal community and highly recommend to anybody looking for assisted living for themselves or loved ones!
We have a wonderful staff that truly love our residents we are going through some much needed upgrades and getting it together here at Bluegrass Assisted Living in Bardstown
Lovely and great staff
lovely and clean facility and great staff
These ratings were for someone with advancing dementia (w/ varying agitation) and advanced incontinence so those factors should be taken into account for our situation. All staff workers that we encountered were helpful and very cooperative. We found BGAL to be better than our experiences with Signature Healthcare personnel overall for sure, and there was the occasional caring attendant at Signature Healthcare but enough less than cordial personnel to be disappointed with that facility.
Great staff will takes care of your loved ones needs.
Good size for bedroom. Big closet. Good size bathroom. Clean facility. My mother moved in and seems to love the activities, food and services. Staff is so friendly and go out of their way to help when needed.
Really love how clean it is. Mom loves activities and food.
My mother was previously a resident at Bluegrass Assisted Living Bardstown and her experience at this facility was very good. The staff were very good and very responsive. The housekeeping and the food could have both been a little better, but overall were okay. This facility is a good place for the cost. I would recommend Bluegrass Assisted Living Bardstown to family and friends.
the employees working at the community are very nice, and our loved one likes the meals that are prepared. Based on the experience we have had so far, we would recommend this community to other families.
My mom moved into Bluegrass Assisted Living, and it's good. It's the closest to our house. The staff members were good. The food was good. They just painted recently, so they keep it up. They have activities like bingo and crafts. The facility is not fancy, but it's homey.
I saw caregivers attempting to assist my relative at Bluegrass Assisted Living than I ever saw at ..[community name removed] more than I ever saw...Even though the meals were rated as a 4, I did see some really decent meals. Based on the experience we have had so far with Bluegrass Assisted Living, I would recommend them to other families.
Bluegrass Assisted Living - Bardstown was an older building, but I liked the way that they seemed to watch the patients where they couldn't get out of the area that they were supposed to be in. I liked the individual rooms where they could bring their own furniture. The rooms were a nice size, had a nice sized bath, and each one had their individual room. I liked the way the staff were attentive to the patients. They did notice one patient tried to go out their door and they were right there on top of it and they called them Mr. and Mrs., saying, "You can't go there. You come right back in." They had a room where they had activities for games and cards. It seemed to be a safe place for them.
Friendly staff and great community!
A wonderful community with friendly staff who care about their residents.
We just moved our Dad, Dennis, into Bluegrass and I can't say enough about how kind and responsive the staff is. Everyone has made us feel safe and comfortable and I trust they will provide great care for my Dad. Thank you to the entire staff for helping us with this transition. We had a wonderful Thanksgiving meal there today, too. It was nice watching my Dad socialize with the other residents. I look forward to seeing everyone again at Christmas. Our new extended family! 🎅☃️🎄
My dad moved to Bluegrass Assisted Living in Bardstown. We like it for the location and price. Everything's going well, the people are friendly, and he's settled in, so that's good. The staff is very friendly, they're good with him, and they take care of anything he might need. Their dining area is a nice, big room, and there are plenty of staff people in there to sit with them while they eat lunch. It's got a nice homey feel, so it feels like a home, and they have a movie night with popcorn.
Bluegrass assisted living located in Bardstown, KY is the most affordable assisted living community within the area. Value for price is exceptional. 1 BR 1 BA apartment is clean and well appointed. Director and staff are knowledgeable, kind, happy, and treat residents with respect. Facility grounds could use landscape improvements. Activities are limited but price reflects.
My loved one is happy here. It is a low key, and not swanky community. If you are looking for comfortable place this is the place for you. My loved one enjoys the food, and has no complaints so far. To my knowledge there are no activities currently due to the pandemic.
They come pretty quick if we push our button for emergencies or problems. They take very good care of us and are friendly and kind. The food is very good and easy to eat (not tough).
My mother has lived here for almost 5 years and I have been very pleased with the quality of the care and the true concern for mom's comfort, health and safety from the caregivers and the administration and on-site administrator, [name removed]. They have games, crafts and some type of entertainment weekly.
Bluegrass Assisted Living - Bardstown was dark, but it was clean and very quiet. The staff member who showed us around did a pretty good job even though it wasn't her expertise. She was from the kitchen, because the manager was unavailable for tours that day. They try to fix people what they want if they don't like what's on the menu, which I thought was nice. The room we saw was nice and adequate for a person who needs assistance.
As soon as I opened the front door to go into the foyer, smelled a strong odor of urine and feces. When I stepped into the common area, the smell was there as well. The residents I saw seemed ok. I can only rate the overwhelming smell while I was visiting a resident.
Bardstown is a small community where most times we all come together. This is my 2nd family and I would highly recommend it. Just wish we had more volunteers to do more outings.
It's like a family at Bluegrass. The food is great. Everyone gets along with most people. My family member is getting ready to move in because it is so small.
Overall this facility is beautiful and has so much to offer to not only clients but the workers as well.
Bluegrass Assisted Living has been great and I have no complaints. The staff is kind and the facilities are nice enough. The apartment is nice with a refrigerator, a microwave, and a private bath.
Staff is professional and personable with the residents and their families. Very prompt addressing concerns or issues. Staff treats residents with respect and dignity. The residents can decorate their rooms with pictures, furniture etc. to make their room feel like home. Activities and entertainment is provided for the residents. Seasonal activities and dinners are enjoyed by family and residents. Facility is secure and monitored daily. My family is happy with the facility and the staff and recommend if you need assisted living for your loved one.
My husband loves people and the staff at Bluegrass were so good with him the week he was there for his respite care. He got to be around the other residents and enjoyed the food. I would have no problem using them again.
My loved one lived here for a few months. The only thing is they have employee turn overs really fast and the food was at a lower grade quality. For example hot dogs were served more than usual. It is a smaller community and it was cheaper. Overall it was okay and no complaints about the care.
My first visit was today, to see an old friend who resides there. I recognized some volunteer workers in the front landscape and chatted for awhile. I visited my good friend, who voiced praise only for the facility and staff over the past several months. I met the director, Lisa, and some of her staff. All were great ambassadors, and obviously concerned with the needs of the residents. I was impressed.
I like this community for the great care from the outstanding staff. The meals are home cooking and the atmosphere is wonderful. They do have activities that she does enjoy. The community is clean and always nice to enjoy. I am happy to know that my mom is in great care.I recommend this community for wonderful care and value to other families
Very clean and neat. Staff is super friendly, and my dad seems truly happy here. Very thankful to have found them.
My husband and i were there for a little over a week and we never felt more at home. The staff were great! When we left we actually cried leaving the girls was so hard. They were so of the most compassionate and caring individuals that we have ever met! Shannon was great ! she even came in to help with my husband when i couldn't be there for him. Dallas died on October 26 th at home as he wanted to do and i am never more grateful for a bunch of people than i was those girls! thanks again for all your care and concern! When no other facility would even give my husband a try Bluegrass took us in and loved us as if we were their family!
It's been over a year sense my mother spent some time there and she as pass away but the people who worked there were very nice to my sister and I when we were trying to get mom settled. My mother was quite a hand full. The first night she didn't want to be there and the staff was so kind. She needed to be in the Alzheimer wing and that is always difficult.
My experience with Bluegrass for my father was not evaluated before he was accepted into Bluegrass. We had to go out and buy furniture specifically for his stay and since he was not properly evaluated was told that we had to leave within 48 hrs which they did stretch out but we were required to hire a 24 hr sitter in addition to paying living expenses this was a major hardship moving him and having to take him back home. The staff was friendly and the place was clean but if he would have been refused acceptance because of his evaluation we could have been better prepared and went somewhere else . I have been told by several people NOW that they were out for the quick buck. Its nice if youre looking just for a home for the elderly requiring very basic assistance. Also we did have one of the staff members that didn't want to move from her chair and chose to grumble when asked for any assistance but the rest were very willing to help.
We weren't so impressed with Bluegrass. We could detect a definite unpleasant odor to the facility as soon as we walked in. This was the last appointment and to say we were disappointed in the tour was an understatement. We definitely won't use Bluegrass.
As clean & efficient as any facility I have seen. Caretakers take time to answer my questions any time I visit or call, Caretakers geniunely care about the people who live there.
