Reviews
for Brookdale Stonestreet
We visited Brookdale Stonestreet last year. We were able to view an assisted living room and their dining room area. We've been there twice and met with their administrator and their marketing director. We were very impressed with everything we saw there. Everyone we encountered was great. They went out of their way to work with us and try to get things settled in. We were very close to having my mom placed there, but she decided she didn't want to move at that time. The residents can eat in their rooms if they want to, but they are encouraged to come out and socialize. It's a dining experience, so to me, it's more like going out to a restaurant than cafeteria style. The front of the facility was also very pretty and had a little sitting area.
Friendly- Clean- Reasonably priced. My only complaint was the food. Not very appetizing plus served same thing on a consistent basis. Based on the experience, yes I have recommend this community to other families.
Honestly I would give a 5 on everything but food would be a 4. My dad doesn't like the food a whole lot but they don't have fried chicken everyday lol! I've had the food and I think it's pretty good. They seem to have bigger meals for lunch than dinner and he prefers to eat dinner and skip lunch so he misses out on meals like ribs and chicken and lunch is sometimes sandwiches or burgers. Other than that we love the place. I wish my dad would love it more but it's not home so that's hard.
I am comparing this place to [facility name removed] so it's WAY more modern, very clean, the staff is very friendly and helpful, there's a full service salon on the premises that is affordable and the lady who runs it is super friendly and does a good job. The outside is park like here. There's a nice walking path, seating and - even though it's located on a fairly busy road- it sits back behind a buffer of beautiful trees. There are multiple areas where residents can gather to watch tv, read or play games. They have a very large activities room and a lot of games, coloring etc available. Families can reserve this room or a small room adjacent to the dining room. There's a fireplace in one of the seating areas.
My mom is SO happy at Brookdale Stonestreet! The staff and residents are all friendly. The facility is comfortable and clean. She loves the food. There’s a wonderful hair salon. Mom moved in during a special. The reduced cost is saving her a lot! … I HIGHLY recommend this place!
These people seem to have a problem with giving seniors their medicines on time. Do some research yourself before sending your loved one to an assisted living facility. I wouldn’t recommend this place.
Residents are well cared for, plenty of activities and outings for stimulation. Very clean environment and most of all residents seem very content and happy !
My mother-in-law moved to Brookdale Stonestreet. It's a great place. It has a lot of activities for all the residents. They have a luncheon area where they enjoy dinner. They come down and sit at a table. They assign them a table mate that are in their same age bracket. The tables are covered with linens, a very nice setting. They have piano players. They have games and checkers, and they play cards, just about anything that you would want to do. It's a two-story building and they have an elevator, which is great. My mother-in-law loves the meals. The studio apartment has a kitchenette, a microwave, and a small refrigerator where she can have her snacks or whatever she wants to keep. It has a huge closet, lots of closet space, and a bed, a nice view, and the windows are big.
My mother-in-law will be moving into Brookdale Stonestreet. It was a smaller community, and we liked that. I can say that they were going to be able to help us with taking my mother-in-law to doctor's visits, and that was a plus for us. The facility looked very nice and clean. The price was good. We're just really happy that we found this place. They had a very nice dining room. They had laundry rooms, hair salons, and a community room where she could be with other people. At that very time, they were shampooing carpets in the hall.
The community of residents is great. My mom has made many wonderful friends. The staff do not seem empowered to make improvements to the number of employees or the quality of the food or food service. It's the biggest detractor by far.
Great food! And lots of it! The employees that work with my mom are wonderful! Activities are ok, could be more exciting and varied. Excerise program is very lacking. They should take lessons from the community center with a weekly yoga class or deep breathing/meditation or chair aerobics, etc. Extra assistance fees are a little high for the lack of follow through.
My mother, who is a caregiver working with a senior care company, was called to a 12 hr shift. The room was said to be disgusting due to a lack of care and cleaning. The sheets were said to be weeks, if not longer, since the last changing. This woman had been seen by a healthcare provider and was told she had numerous bed bug bites , My mother was present when the daughter came and changed the bed sheets and treated the bed for bed bug infestation, where she and this woman had time to discuss some of these obvious issues. There had been no cleaning of the room, including a litter box, which services 2 cats. My mother was covered with these bites, also, with just a few hours there. This family is paying for Brookdale Stone Street to care for their mother, and this is the standard?! Who will speak for these people? Who will alert the proper authorities? I am just a 3rd party with no skin in the game. My mother's story and physical scars of bed bugs were enough for me to do this little bit. This is an abomination and the reason there is ongoing fear when people discuss entrusting their elderly family member to a particular facility. Respect and honor these men and women as they seek dignity in these last years. And I'm sure she's one of many...perhaps in this facility but surely across this nation. My mother notified Senior Helpers of this issue and the fact of her home now being possibly infected. They never called her back. This attitude of these two businesses is the root cause of the filthy sheets, bed bug's and overall substandard living conditions of this poor woman and probably others. Do your job! *Correction: Senior Helpers did contact my mother after this post and assisted her by hiring an exterminator.
Caring staff who put their hearts in their work.
My father has moved into Brookdale Stonestreet. I like the location. Looking at a couple of ones, I had to choose one. I just liked it the best. The rooms are good sized and spacious. They have activities and stuff, but my father doesn't participate. The staff I met were willing to help, so that's good. My father loves the meals, too. I ate lunch with him before. I also observed the residents in the common area, talking and watching TV and stuff. They all looked pleasantly happy.
This place was suggested by PT care manager at University of Louisville Hospital. Total mistake. My loved one's oncologist insisted my loved one be moved. Brookdale gave him a room with NO BED. We had to rent one. The would not feed him. He was totally blind. He went downhill fast and never recovered. Died on [date removed]. They did refund some of our money but not all. They should be reported to the state nursing home department. It was a total NIGHTMARE.
Its very clean, very nice apartments, reasonable activities, good social environment, beautiful landscaping and outdoor seating. It can take a long time to get help when the call button is pushed. That does concern me. The food quality is often quite poor with many residents leaving it behind as inedible. But the deserts are always good!
We're very pleased with Brookdale. The administrative staff, and nursing staff are very helpful and caring. The communication is above average! We would give Brookdale the highest recommendation! The Activities Director always has a full day planned for the residents. The different activities are trvia, shopping, movie Monday and Friday Flix, bowling and bingo to name a few. Snacks in the community room every day in the afternoon, between lunch and dinner.
You probably won't be able to find a better place for your loved one, than Brookdale. They were tremendous to work with and the staff communication with the family was excellent. There were three meals a day served and the residents had choices to choose from. The staff made sure that the family was comfortable during visiting our loved ones in the dining room or in the common areas. The staff truly went above and beyond for us.
I toured this community and it was ok. The atmosphere here just didn't seem very inviting, kind of old.
Our family had an in person tour and even though the staff were very informative and courteous it was just not going to fit our loved ones needs.
You do not know how things will turn out unless you move your loved one in. I do not fully understand the community fee that was definitely a shocker to us. I do not feel there is enough variety in the food menu. The biggest complaint from my father is that all of the staff members have a master key and nobody knocks.
I was impressed with Brookdale Stonestreet. That's probably where I would go myself. It looked extremely nice and well kept. The staff was very friendly and gave me a lot of information, and I just liked the place in general.
I feel like my loved one is in a safe, clean place. And they would contact us if there were any issues. He seems very happy. The staff say he's made a lot of friends. They presented themselves the way they actually run the facility. They're upfront with any questions or issues that you have, and they seem to address them right away, whether it's maintenance or dining or anything else. Really my loved one only has a couple of complaints. First is the food. It's not like home cooking - it's more institutional and doesn't have as much flavor. But he is given options to substitute if he doesn't want what's on the daily menu. We talked to management about it, and they said they wanted him to be happy and were going to work with him. Second, he also wishes they had a more involved Catholic mass. They do have a weekly Catholic "mass," but it's not much of a mass, just a small service. But he likes the location. It's in a wooded area, offset from the street and very quiet. I think the cost is pretty fair, and we got in on a special, which helped defer the cost. They also rotate different promotions.
I had to take my mom out because of the lack of care it was terrible
The food is very good, and what we really enjoyed about the staff was how accommodating they were. They were just very nice people to deal with and we would recommend the Brookdale Stonestreet to others.
Overall we were pleased with the care of our loved one. I would recommend you check this community out for your loved ones.
The rooms at Brookdale Stonestreet community are nice and adequate. When it comes to the food they serve. our loved one seems to like it, and we would recommend this community to a family or a friend.
My mother was in Brookdale Stonestreet. At that time, they called me and told me that my mother had fallen and that she had cracked her open, and she didn't know who she was or where she was. They asked me what hospital I would like her to be taken to, I told them, and I only live a couple of minutes away, so I rushed over there. It turned out, it was not my mother; it was another tenant. My mother was fine. She was sitting there watching TV in her apartment. The size of her apartment was very, very small. For the amount of money, it was paid twice as much money and had half as much space. It was very tiny. The food was the same as hospital food; it was flavorless. My mother said that it looked like they didn't even try. It was extremely expensive. They had a walking area; they had a path around the property. They had a little patio area in the back that you could go to, but you had to go through multiple doors to get to it. Someone who was in a wheelchair or a walker might have had trouble getting through one of the doors. The door was a little heavy, so if it was an older person who's kinda weak or using a walker, it shuts kinda quick and it had some weight to it, so that might have been something that they needed to watch out for. When my mother was in Brookdale, she was spending almost $3300 a month, and for that much money, she could at least have some flavor in her food. They had hotdogs and baloney sandwiches and stuff for dinner one day, that's not dinner for a grown person, that's a snack for a child. For that much money, she should have a real meal. That was very disappointing.
Do not recommend. We thought it was a good place for mom at first but soon found out it wasn’t what it seemed. Lies & inconsistencies. Paid for medicine to be given daily but would see they missed days - sometimes multiple days in a row. They were suppose to be helping with cleaning & dressing during COVID but found out too late they neglected her & lied to us. Once she was sent to ER we found she had a black eye & feces stuck to her skin indicating that they just let her lay in feces. All the Depends we bought & delivered for 2 months remained unopened. Her toe nails were so long they were growing sideways into her other toes. She had lost 20 lbs & screamed when anyone touched her. She was never cognitive from that point & passed away shortly after. Brookdale admitted to showering her before calling for an ambulance to take her to the hospital with pneumonia. We believe this was an attempt to hide the neglect & feces buildup on her skin.
Brookdale Stonestreet was a good community. They had adequate activities and they offered supplemental services such as physical, occupational, and speech therapy on-site. They're not equipped to deal with memory care patients. They have menu-style pricing for additional services, but I didn't feel like the value of the services added were adequate for what we were anticipating versus what we got, and that's why we moved.
My brother moved into Brookdale Stonestreet last March 8, and its been great. He likes it, we like it, and we like the people there that we talked to. I have friends that go see him, hes in good shape, hes well taken care of, and they help him take care of himself. We sat with him as he ate, and its very nice. I know they have a movie room and he likes that idea, and I think theres a library upstairs. There are 2 different living room areas, one upstairs and one downstairs, and he can go and sit in those rooms. Theres a side walk all around the building, and he likes to walk there all the time. I would definitely recommend it to others.
My mother has been here for 4-5 years or so and has fallen numerous times and no one came to help her. The food is being cooked by a 21-year old that has NO experience and despite the many many complaints to the head of food and the building director, NOTHING has been done about it. I went there for mothers day and had lunch and the food was very greasy (I couldn't eat it) the salad was soggy and the mashed potatoes were cold.Whenever I stay late at nights when leaving I always see the same thing, employees setting on the couch playing with their phones. One night back in December my sister had taken Mom Christmas shopping and they lock the front door at 8PM, when they arrived Mom had forgotten they had just changed the entry code and couldn't get in, so the 2 of them stood at the front door banging on the door for someone to open it and my sister called and it just rang off the hook, finally a young girl came over and opened the door for them, but they froze standing out in the night air. The staff is generally very nice and mostly helpful, but there are many times the hallways smell like stale urine and at a cost of approx. $36,000 + a year, WE expect better standards. I'm sorry but no one seems to be concerned about anything that goes on up there and I will be locating a better facility somewhere else and believe me there are plenty in Louisville area.
This is a nice community for care for my mom. The staff is outstanding and very attentive to her needs.I like knowing that the community is clean with a good enviroment. The menu is good with a lot of healthy choices. They offer my mom to participate in the activities. We would recommend this community for the good care for a loved one
My father has recently made the move into this community and so far things are going well for him. The staff have been easy to work with and I am comfortable with the care he has been receiving. The property has been clean for him and they have a great selection of amenities for the residents. Overall it has been a great fit and I would recommend it to anyone.
Brookdale Stonestreet is a very nice place. The people were very nice and the apartments were very clean and nice. When I visited, they were playing a game in the game room and they were watching a movie.
Dad likes that there are lots of vets there, and is slowly adjusting to being around a lot of people after living alone for 8 years. He's critical of the food, but likes going to the dining room, and he never misses a meal. Staff is friendly and helpful, but communication among family and service staff has been a problem at times and there are no care plan meetings. Coordination of outside medical services, physical, occupational, and speech therapies leaves family often in the dark. Facility is safe and offers many activities, but maybe initial expectations were too high. Still family is optimistic .
We had a tour and found that they were not a good fit for us. It is an assisted living community and my dad does not need the assistance yet. They may be an option in the future if we need that.
I'am doing well since my move to this community. It is a nice facility with kind people. When I need some help the staff is always right there. They are very kind. The community is well-kept, and they do a good job with the cleanliness around the community. The have a nice shaded area outside, and you can go out there whenever you like. My experience in this community is going well, and I would recommend it to my family, and friends.
My loved one has recently moved into this place and I have to say I am pleased with how things are going for her so far. The staff are excellent and I could have not picked for a better group to care for her. She has had no complaints about the meals and enjoys playing bingo throughout the week with the other residents. Overall it has been a great experience and I would highly recommend it to anyone.
This place is horrible. They can't keep employees. There isn't never enough employees to work. They serve the worst food I have every taste. The activities are boring and childish. The residents are very mean. I thought this was suppose to be a assistant living place. It's run more like a nursing home. This place only care about the money. Not it's residents. [Removed]. She don't respect the residence. When we try to talk to her she always rude. When Our family try to talk to her she is very rude and condescending. I don't know if she's the boss or Cliff. I can hear the workers talking about how mean she is and how she meddles with everything.
Brookdale Stonestreet has been a good fit for my loved one so far. We like that they have an excellent variety of activities for the residents. When I visit my loved one, the facility is always clean and maintained well.
I would recommend Brookdale Stonestreet because they have been good to my mother. I think the thing that stands out the most is the friendliness and attentiveness. I stayed with her a few days when she first moved in. One morning when my mother did not go down for breakfast and a lady came and checked on us to make sure she was okay. After, she delivered breakfast for my mother which was very nice of her. We had a lot of boxes when mom was moving in, and they helped us out a lot with that process.
Upon visiting Brookdale Stonestreet, I was impressed with the cleanliness and friendliness of the community. The team of individuals working there have gone out of their way to welcome my mother after she moved in. I couldn't be more pleased with this cohesive community!!
The care that my mother is receiving at Brookdale has been very good. The facility is very nice and the people there have gotten to know my mom. She had some adjustments to make at first, but now she is able to to go out and see what the community has to offer.
I liked this community when we visited. They keep the community well maintained and the people were friendly. This community does allow pets and they offer daily activities.
Mom states when ready this is where she wants to go but would have to be a one bedroom. She did not care for studio. At this time none were available and she is not ready to make the move.
I had no problem during my tour of this community. It is a nice place. They do good job with the cleanliness of the community, everything looked nice and clean. The staff was kind and friendly. Everyone was very kind to my family and I. It was a pleasant experience, but my mother needed more care than they were able to provide.
I had a fabulous experience ............I was searching online for HELP with a friend. Within 12 hours, I received a return phone call in regard to my online request. I was contacted by two different facilities the next morning and began the process to get my friend moved in to one of the facilities. I am a believer of faith and this was an answered prayer. They were on top of making contact with me and displayed care for my friend. I highly recommend to all who are looking for help with someone needing more care than they are currently receiving.
clean, friendly, residents truly happy, grounds well kept
