Reviews
for Dominion Senior Living of Richmond
Dominion is by far the most PERFECT place/home for my Father. Every one of the employees are so wonderful!!! I trust them 110% with my Father from the Nursing care to the meals they serve for each individual. The cleanliness of the facility is wonderful. When you walk in, there is no way you would realize it鈥檚 a senior care Facility. I want to thank everyone who is employed by Dominion in Richmond. 馃槏
From Lisa Roy鈥攁bsolutely the best place my mother could be!!! You always go above and beyond to have super fun experiences for the residents!! The staff are loving and caring and the food is awesome! The derby party was great! My momma loved it!! Thank you so much for all you do for the residents and for your kindness to us, the family
Good environment to work with, good people to work with as well
My mother has been in Memory Care at Dominion since July 2023. I am so thankful to say that she is the happiest that I have ever seen her. She is well cared for, and very loved. The staff, from dining to housekeeping, nursing care, all of the caretakers, the Memory Care Director, the office and management, are all competent, efficient, and so loving and fun. I always feel welcome when I visit, and now consider these people my friends. I am so very thankful for Dominion Senior Living and the loving family that my mom has found there.
Very caring and friendly place with amazing staff.
We have found this place to be super-friendly, caring, and often quick to respond to needs (Scott, the maintenance guy hung a special sign five minutes after I called him and all I really wanted was for someone to hang it whenever was convenient for them). The nurses really care about the residents and the aides are friendly and helpful. All the staff go overboard to make new people feel valued and welcomed. And, by the way, the food is delicious!
I first got to know Dominion Senior Living when my mother-in-law became a resident. Everything about the facility and the people impressed our family. We all visited on a daily basis and soon learned that it is so much more than a senior living residence. The staff and residents were like one. They were one big family. I loved the atmosphere. I actually loved it so much that I took a job in life enrichment with Dominion. I can honestly tell you that it doesn鈥檛 feel like a job. I go to work and interact with some of the most caring qualified people I have ever been a part of. I love how everyone truly cares about each other and gets to know the residents and their families personally. I see what goes on there on a daily basis.I see all the extra time and love that is given to each resident. I truly love them all. My mother in law has passed, but I continue to stay on. I love being a part of this family.
My husband has been in Dominion's Memory Care unit for 1.5 years now. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Many have been there for his entire stay and he knows and responds well to them. His apartment is an ample size and my husband seems comfortable there. The food is good, and because he is a large man, they make sure he has enough to satisfy his appetite. If an issue does arise with his care, they call me immediately to discuss what needs to be done. Daily activities are offered for the patients and the common areas are clean and aesthetically pleasing. My many thanks to Donna and all the staff for the care they give my husband each day.
I have a family member at Dominion. They have a wonderful staff led by an amazing director. They serve the residents with kindness and compassion. They offer a variety of activities and programs for the residents.
My father lived at Dominion Senior Living during the last seven months of his life, and I cannot say enough good things about the care that he received. I highly recommend Dominion Senior Living of Richmond.
I have nothing but good things to say about Dominion. My friend Tom has been there for several years and they treat him like family. The staff is so caring and loving. I know Tom feels at home here about a year ago he got really sick and was in a nursing home his goal was to go back home (Dominion) and we had our doubts it was gonna happen but Donna Agee agreed for him to come back and so happy she did he is doing great eating by himself and happy to be back home. Thank you for everything you do for him. They make everyone feel welcome even visitors.
My father was a resident for nearly a year at Dominion Senior Living of Richmond. He received so much love and quality care from their outstanding staff. Watching a loved one mentally and physically decline is heart-wrenching, but Dominions staff was with my father and our family every step of the way. They were so engaging with him and all the residents, families included. When you walk through the sliding doors you are welcomed by so many smiling faces, happy chatter and beautiful decorations. It鈥檚 so much more than a facility, it鈥檚 a home, it鈥檚 a family! Thank you Dominion for loving my father, and all the residents!
Wonderful place! My brother has been in such exceptional care at the Dominion. They are always so welcoming when visiting with frequent check ins to make sure you have everything you need. They fix delicious meals that they welcome you to enjoy with your loved ones. They even have live entertainment and church sermons available to the patients of their home. Workers are all around loving and caring!
Im completely impressed with Dominions ability to provide both housing and great personal care to there residents. Dominion has been exceptional and welcoming since my loved one arrived. Karen has worked with my family and I, providing kindness, guidance, support and understanding along our journey. Perfect place for our needs.
I cannot say enough good things about the staff at Dominion! My father in law was in the memory care unit for a year. They cared for him with such compassion and patience. They knew his needs and genuinely loved him. My mother in law became so attached to the staff while he was there, that she moved in to assisted living, also! They take such amazing care of her. The director, Donna, knows her residents and is so involved with their care. I鈥檓 so thankful that God led us to Dominion!
Wonderful care. Always ready to assist. Always smells clean. The staff is always friendly and helpful. The quality of the care services has been excellent. I could not do what they do. Great food, may need more vegetables and fruits at times. It is expensive, however they give much more hands on care than other places. Based on the experience we have had, we would definitely recommend this community to other families.
The staff is very caring, helpful and friendly. Room sizes and amenities offered are great.
I was n a emergency situation with my father who has dementia and had became very violent towards me. I needed to place him asap . This is the only place that returned my calls. That being said . Dad never stayed one night there . It's very pricey. He was never released from the hospital. He could never afford to pay what they wanted a month. He got a check back for [removed] I paid over [removed]!!!! To bad for you !!!! You signed a contract so do not go there unless you are 100 % sure !!! I think it was pretty crappy of them not give some money back more than [removed] .. They do not care..
My dad has been a resident of Dominion Senior Living in Richmond since the summer of 2021, and he views his apartment there as his home, not a facility. I was afraid he would miss being in the house he had lived in for my entire life, but he adjusted quickly and made friends with other residents and the staff immediately. After suffering a stroke in 2017 that caused him to lose control over the entire right side of his body, his quality of life plummeted, and I am happy to say that it has vastly improved since moving to Dominion. His apartment and the building were built with his mobility needs in mind. Unfortunately, the rent has increased significantly since his move; however, the administration (at least at the facility level) does its best to keep the costs low within their control while maintaining a high-quality level of care. Keep in mind this is a for-profit corporation at the end of the day, and that comes with its consequences, so it is necessary to consider if you are looking for an assisted living place for your loved one. We have experienced regular rent increases since the move to Dominion. Still, I'm afraid that is happening across the board and isn't a Dominion-specific problem, so I keep that in mind. For our family, Dominion Senior Living in Richmond means peace of mind, and it has given me and my brother the gift of being allowed to be Dad's sons again and not also his physical caretaker. That means the world to my family, and I'm so grateful to the excellent therapists, CNAs, nurses, and all the staff members who have cared for my dad during his time at Dominion.
We have used Dominion Senior Living of Richmond twice now, for respite care for my loved one. This facility is a great place and is always clean. It is expensive, as they all are, but the care is great. The staff is so good, sweet and very kind. I would recommend Dominion Senior Living of Richmond to others.
Dominion Senior Living of Richmond is very nice. It's very clean. They have a snack area just inside the entrance where the residents can get snacks and drinks anytime they want. It was very nice. I talked to the director, and she was super nice. I was very impressed. The apartment was a little small. But I'm not sure I like to live in such a small space. It was a studio. The place was excellent. It was a very nice place to live but it was also very expensive.
My mom is a dementia patient. She has received the utmost care and respect from CMA , nurses and administration. The meals are home cooked and a variety of activities and therapies. I am a nurse and am thrilled with the physical , emotional and spiritual care she received.
Really really nice staff and a really nice place
Dominion Senior Living is an excellent facility. Your loved one will be well taken care of by them. [name removed] and her staff are loving and caring people. You will be more than satisfied! I highly recommend this facility.
Our basketball team at Berea College visited the residents of Dominion Senior Living and were blown away with the hospitality that was shown to us. The facility is clean, the residents seemed so happy, & lots of food, snacks, & games for all. We really enjoyed our visit!
DSL has been the perfect place for my Mom. She entered there during the Covid pandemic, so staffing had been an issue at first. After a new director was appointed, things have continued to improve. Any issues can easily be addressed with staff and you can expect a quick response. Many of the staff there treat your family member like one of their own! They host wonderful events for the residents and families. Placing your loved ones in a facility is a very difficult decision, but DSL makes the transition so much easier for all involved. Grateful to the staff and the love they share with my Mom 馃挆
After my mom passed away, we moved my dad back home to Ky and had to quickly search for a place. As you can see by the pictures, it鈥檚 gorgeous, but we prayed that we had chosen correctly. We quickly learned that we had. Once my dad settled in, there was no stopping him. He was having a blast, making new friends, living his best life, or as much as he could after my mom had passed away (you can see in the pics that he was prom king馃憫). He loved the staff and the staff loved him. I visited many times a week and got to know them well, and they are awesome people. It is truly a special place鉂わ笍Also..the food is amazing!
I would like to take this opportunity and thank the entire staff at the Richmond Dominion senior living facility. After our father passed away in 2021 our mother was unable to stay and care for herself so the siblings got together and viewed multiple facilities in the Richmond area and settled on the dominion and glad we did. After the first couple months with the prior director mother was skeptical about staying due to the fact that it appeared the morale was down with staff and other residents. The director would hardly speak and was not approachable. At one point we considered moving mother to another facility but decided to stay once we heard that a new director was coming and especially when we found out who it was. Our family has known Mrs, Agee for several years and we knew that she would be an excellent fit for that position. The moral appears to be up by everyone, new staff was brought in and the residents are doing something different every day and our mother is very content and wants to spend the rest of her life at the dominion . It is our opinion that if mother had not moved into this facility that she would not be here today. No place is without problems or faults but in our opinion the Richmond dominion facility is as close to a five star as you will see. The Thomas family is very satisfied with the care in which Mrs, Agee and her staff provide for our mother.
I have been at Dominion Senior Living for almost 4 years, and I love it, and my aunt has been living there longer. It is a beautiful place and everyone here is very kind. This is my home away from home. Our resadents are loved, and we all loved resadents and staff alike.
Beautiful community that takes the extra step to make sure your loved ones are taken care of!
Beautiful place with a wonderful staff. The interaction between the patients and staff is amazing. Just check out their fb page and all the activities they have for your loved ones. I definitely would recommend this place for a loved one.
Would like to take this opportunity to share my thoughts about the dominion facility. My mother has been there going on three years now and when she first moved there the former administration was not professional at all. Barley spoke to you when you walked in or even while you were there for some period of time. However my mother said she liked the place and the other residents seemed friendly so she would stay there awhile and see how it works out. As time went on she complained about different things such as the food preparation, nursing care especially through the night hours when she needed assistance with meds, dressing etc, . She at some point spoke of moving to another facility and then she heard that The new administrator of whom my family is familiar with was coming to work there so she decided to stay and see how that鈥檚 works out and I will tell you that she is very satisfied. The place has done a complete 360 since the new administration took over. The staff are very helpful, the food is much better and the staff is constantly working with the residents individually and collectively by way of games and exercise activities. My siblings and I are very pleased with the facility and if my mother had not made a move to a facility such as the dominion of Richmond when she did it is our opinion that she would not be alive today so we are very thankful for Mrs. Agee and her entire staff and can only hope that future families can trust in the dominion to care for their loved ones like they have for our mother. No facility is without improvement but in my opinion it鈥檚 as close to a five star as you will find. Thanks once again.
Dominion Senior Living of Richmond went over and beyond to set my father-in-law up (making his transition smooth with an AMAZING staff who genuinely care deeply for their residents). A warm and friendly atmosphere with outstanding amenities!!! I would highly recommend Dominion!!
Samatha took care of my papaw when he was there and did a terrific job and was so kind.
My mother Samantha talks about how good her job is and enjoys being around the people there
Dominion is a wonderful place that strives to give the best care to every resident and support to their families. The atmosphere of Dominion is friendly and inviting, I love coming to work everyday and see each of the residents and their smiling faces. Dominion is a community that all are welcome and feel at ease when you walk in.
My father spent the last month of his life at Dominion. Because of aggressive behavior, due to his end stage of Alzheimer鈥檚, he was asked to leave the facility he lived at for 2 years. I didn鈥檛 think I would be able to find a senior living facility that would accept him. When I met with Dominion Senior Living, they accepted my father with open arms. The staff there expedited my father鈥檚 acceptance and move in. The staff are all VERY caring and available. The facility is beautiful, the rooms are large and the staff are stellar. I highly recommend Dominion Senior Living.
Dominion offers a vibrant community experience! From bus rides to local outings, crafts, music, and bible studies, there's something for everyone. The staff dedication ensures every resident feels engaged and loved. It's a place to connect and feel joy.
The staff is so sweet and go above and beyond for all that live there. The staff ensures all residents have plenty to do with dances, arts and crafts, exercise and other weekly events. The food is also AMAZING! Thank you so much Dominion for being a wonderful place to live. It鈥檚 great and reassuring knowing our loved ones are so well taken care of.
This is the best in Richmond! This facility is first class as are the staff that care for the residents. My mother inlaw is a resident and has received excellent care. We are very pleased!
Dominion is a wonderful place. Staff is caring, and makes resident feel like family. I would definitely recommend Dominion for a family member.
Dominion Senior Living (DSL) takes seriously the care and safety of those who are entrusted to the care of the memory unit. I have been able to watch closely the staff and management, and I am convinced that they are willing to do anything and everything in their power to make residents comfortable, and included. God bless them as they continue in this important work.
Dominion Staff are fantastic, my dad is in Memory care unit and he can be a challenge. The Staff team has worked with him and our family to make him have all he needs!
I have personally know two different families who have had loved ones living at Dominion. And I鈥檝e never heard them talk negatively about the care or compassion given by the workers or management staff. I myself have given several concerts for the patients. In my time there I have witnessed nothing but kindness and quality care for everyone there. I hope that if I鈥檓 ever in need of such care that it will be in a place as nice as Dominion Senior Living.
My mom and dad moved in early April 2022. Unfortunately, my mom passed away in May of '23, and my dad remained at Dominion until October of '23. Due to a series of medical issues and procedures, my dad spent the next 5 months in hospitals and the rehab facility. We were afraid dad would experience a failure to thrive while in the nursing home, but he made it very clear he wanted to get back to Dominion. Last month, he finally qualified to return. When he arrived, he told his friend that brought him, "I believe I can make it now." When the Occupational Therapist came to do her evaluation, she asked dad where he was. His reply?... "Right where I want to be". Comments like these can only come from someone who feels loved and cared for. That has been his experience at Dominion. We're ecstatic he's back! But this really isn't my review; it's my dad's.
I cannot say enough good things about Dominion Senior Living. Donna Agee is an amazing leader. She is genuinely a loving and caring person and has built a staff that reflects her expectations and values. They treat you like family! When you leave their facility you know, without a doubt, your loved one will be well taken care of and treated with the upmost respect.
I know several of the Staff personally including the director, Donna Agee. I also know several of the residents. I have been there many times visiting, also. If I needed these services, this is where I would want to be and where I would want my loved ones to be. They are compassionate, caring and competent. It鈥檚 a beautiful facility, also. I have complete confidence in Dominion and recommend it.
My husband had Alzheimer鈥檚 and was in the memory care unit almost a year. The staff were professional, kind, compassionate and loving not only to him but to the other residents as well. They work hard to keep them engaged up to their individual ability. The building is beautifully decorated and kept clean. The food is excellent. We were so happy with everything that both my parents moved there when they needed assistance.
Dominion is a beautiful community with a family atmosphere. They have a team of workers who have a heart for the residents and do their best to provide excellent care. I have a family member who is a current resident. She鈥檚 my beloved aunt and I recommended Dominion for her care. I wanted the very best for her and they have not disappointed. The food is fabulous, there鈥檚 a host of activities, all of this provided by folks with kind, compassionate hearts. I鈥檓 sure they aren鈥檛 perfect but you can certainly see they strive to be.
Dominion Senior Living is a wonderful place for me to work. My family and I were so impressed with the senior living and care here that we moved my mother in law in as a resident. We have never regretted our decision. The staff is considerate and friendly. Dominion offers several activities for residents every month to keep residents engaged. When you walk through our doors you will not smell urine ( like in a nursing home). Dominion has lovely residents and staff.
