Reviews
for Dover Nursing and Rehabilitation Center
My recently deceased sibling had the worse experience here. I honestly believe prison would have been better. How this place is still open is beyond me. Unbelievably bad all the way around.
This facility has a terrible staff. I have had two relatives here. One was dropped on their head the other was told they were unable to help them to the bathroom they had to use in their diaper. The need to clean house. Many need to know what is going on inside this building before your loved one gets abused. Call those who have inside information because you can’t be sorry enough after someone you love is in their.
A beautiful place
Great facility under new ownership and management, The nurses, therapist, and staff care about you and your loved ones. Feels like home and beautiful upgrades throughout.
Witnessed an employee named Tarina bragg about getting other workers in trouble by falsifying details and stories after a worker refused to not lift a total care resident without the lift. The CNA girl should never have to debate with anyone or a nurse about why hoyer residents don't get air lifted on shower beds with bed sheets especially if the tool is there to utilize. That wasn't very bright. Sneaky-distasteful & miserable souls in that place. Stay away and go somewhere that appreciates good help and actually takes health care work serious. I can smell some law suits coming about... Well deserved at that. Need more folks who don't mind being "The good guy" with a back bone for what's right. Too many licenses on the line for those that don't. In And some people think it's fun and games to toil with the well-being of others to hush things. ONE word....ACCOUNTABILITY... Watch your loved ones close if their here. And if your freshly licensed, beware. People are wicked and strange in this facility.
If you are a CNA or Nurse, STAY AWAY! this place just lost multiple staff members because of pay check issues, staff members have had to wait over a week for check corrections, sometimes longer, with little to no support from management. D.O.N will threaten you if you aren’t willing to cover a shift she needs, residents are poorly taken care of ect. Watch the news! They are already under investigation with the state. the “CEO” is a call dodging joke and shouldn’t have the responsibility of overseeing the care of your elderly family. they have already been investigated for injury to residents. In general, stay away. Check Seniorcare.com reviews as well, don’t just take my word for it.
My mom is in Harborview Health Systems Georgetown. It's a nursing home, and it's very attractive when you enter. It's very clean and it seems to be pretty well-staffed at this time, which is unusual. Anything I requested for her has been seen. She's also under hospice care at this time, which they work with closely. So for the last few months, I've been pleased with her care. She's comfortable, clean, and warm. That's important right now because she's 101. She's in a 2-bedroom, there's plenty of room, and it's always clean. There have been mishaps but it's cleaned up by the next evening or day that I'm there. There are windows in each room, which is nice. The staff was very friendly and helpful. They also call me when there's any change, which I appreciate. They work with hospice, I call them, they work well together, and if there's a need, they answer. I've noticed a few things. She had an infection and the nurse at Harborview got online and got her medication once I showed it to her. It's been better so I think they do react fairly quickly when I may have made a request. Her food is nectar water, which is thick, and the food she receives is ground up so it's not good. Some of them are bland like baby food and because of swallowing problems, they put nectar in her drinks. She's gotten used to that. I'm not tasting the food though, their ham is not good at all. The chicken, she seems to tolerate sometimes, but they do add applesauce and puddings, and things that are easy for her to swallow. She likes things sweet, and she does well swallowing them so they always provide something like that on her tray. I think they have to do that for people with that diet. I think they have to be careful. A few times, it's been over-peppered, over seasoned, and burned her mouth. I hate to criticize it because I think they do the best they can with what they have to deal with, grinding her food up. I don't know if they could improve that. From what I've seen, the maintenance and upkeep are very good. They had a group of young children paint pictures on their windows, which was sweet. I think they're from a local school. They have a wonderful beautician. She's so sweet and worked with giving her haircut correctly because she can't get her out of bed. They've worked hard to help me with that because she needed to wash her hair. The hospice does some of it too but Harborview will do anything as well. The majority of their staff is very friendly and helpful. Of course, they do laundry too. They have a shower room that she's gone into, with hospice, to get some type of bathing done. I think they have activities. They've called me because she cannot participate, but they put out a little flier every day with what activities are on. The residents there have bingo and they're able to go outside in some areas. I'm just observing but we haven't done that with my mom. I do see that happening and I do read the flier for the patients that are there listing activities that are going to go on. The menus for lunch and dinner are also posted on this paper that comes out. They have an activity coordinator who called and was interested in trying to find something that she could do, which I appreciate. They contacted me to see if there was anything that she liked. I think there's a chaplain base there too but I'm using the hospice's chaplain for her. I do believe they have ministers there as well that will come from the local churches. Their price is probably a little bit lower than some. The range I noticed was from $7000 to $10000 so we're more on the lower end with it being almost $8000 a month, and that's out of pocket because her Medicare was used up in the hospitals and care units. From what I've seen, and I've also called other places, they're probably a little less expensive than some. They do have one problem sometimes that they need to address. I think it's a problem with getting people to work. The place is locked and the front desk has to let you in. You have to take your temperature too, which is great, but quite often there's no one present at that desk, and you might have to wait quite a while to get in. Or you have to make the alarm go off for them to turn off. That is the one weakness. They run and try to do it, but sometimes the nurses on the floor or the aides have to come and do it too. There is not really anyone that's there in the evening, permanently. They need some night's help, I guess. They probably need someone watching the door and letting people in from, I'd say, 5-9 shifts or somewhere in there. The staff is very pleasant and helpful though. I have not run into anyone sharp or refusing to do anything or are acting like they have a temper. Some are just more pleasant, friendly and comforting. Some are just in a big hurry because they have a lot to do and that's the only difference I see. I've never seen rudeness or anything like that.
I knew of harbor view as dover manor. I first called to ask what kind of volunteer services they were offering. The lady that answered the phone asked another lady and they said services are starting back on Monday for volunteers. I then was put on a brief hold for 25 minutes which was totally fine. Then a male answered and I asked him what all I needed to do to become a volunteer and he said I don’t know what to tell you on that. Didn’t wanna help what so ever. I then proceeded telling him that the lady that first answered said they started services back on Monday and he proceeds to tell me he don’t know. He thinks that may be right. Once again no help at all, then asks me for my number so he can give me a call back when I’ve already been put on hold for 20 minutes so why not wait another 20 minutes for them to find out information, once again no help at all very disappointed. I volunteered as a volunteer at a nursing home here in Georgetown for five years ive never known a nursing home to be this poor communication and help in a nursing home as I have seen in this one since I’m assuming I guess they bought Dover manor her out and change the name
I stayed there in February and March for Physical therapy. Great housekeeping staff Devonne is the best person working6there a real gem. She is very caring and a great nurse.
My friend is a resident at Harborview. In the few weeks I've been visiting them there, I've seen real and good changes being made. Harborview is a good solid choice for nursing care needs.
The administrator bary derossett is very unprofessional. He was the administrator where my dad passed away. The first time we met him was when an aide had my dads bed raised as high as it would go and my dad fell hitting his head on concrete floor. Baby was standing outside his office when I spoke to him about this situation because the nurses were screaming at us for wanting to know what happened to our dad. Barry never offered to step into his office. He never reached out or tried in anyway to speak to us about the situation. He never checked on our dad after that happened. Then our dad passed away on his birthday. We called about driving 2 hours to see our dad. They said it was OK several times as we had lots of planning and wanted us to come. When we got there bary stopped us in the foyer and would not let us see our dad. Again he was very unprofessional. This should never happen to any family. Any place that would hire a unprofessional cold hearted person is not good.
Great place to live and work
poor pay for CNA!
I thought it was a very clean place. There was no odors normally associated with nursing homes. The staff was nice and always showed up soon after being called. They were very caring, patent and helpful. The only complaint I could possible have was sometimes the hallways seemed a little crowded. But other than that, the grounds were relaxing and pretty, the front lounge was beautifully decorated and had a warm feeling, parking was ample and the food was good. When my aunt was breathing her last breaths, the nurses were with the family and cried along with us. They rarely left our side as we waited for the inevitable. They helped us clear out her room. The condition of the facility along with the extreme caring of the staff is what made this place an ideal nursing home.I would highly recommend Dover Manor to anyone who was looking for a decent and upstanding last home environment for their loved ones.
