Elk River Senior

The only good thing about living at Elk River is the location. Since I have lived here, management has been very poor to say the least. The common areas are filthy all the time, the hallways have puddles of dog urine in them frequently. Hallway light fixtures are full of dead bugs and haven't been cleaned out since I lived here. Neighbors are very inconsiderate when it comes to noise, any complaints to management goes unchecked or unresolved. You get nothing but constant excuses of why issues can't be resolved. The property seems to have problems keeping maintenance on staff. (Elk River is not an assisted living facility it is independent living.)

Manager and maintenance people nice and attentive to residents needs. Management company, not so good. Manager and maintenance not onsite often. Management company keeps them running around to their other properties constantly. Common areas are not kept clean, light fixtures in hallways and common area's are full of dead bugs. Entrance/exit foyers are full of cob webs and dead bugs. The location is great, nice and quit, off the beaten path. Apartments are roomy and comfortable. Neighbor's are great. Neighborhood is nice. Have to wait awhile to get non-emergency repair orders taken care of. Maintenance people spread around to many other locations and not always available.

Perhaps it was a nice place before Winterwood took over. Now, it takes months to get repairs done and they don't take care of common areas. Our front doors open into an inside hallway and the A/C has been busted for over 2 years, whatever the temp is outside, that's how hot it is in the hall - heat radiates so tenants are forced to run our A/Cs to compensate for this radiant heat. Examples of poor maintenance: 38 days to replace toilet seat; 40 days to replace shower diverter so a shower can be taken; 3 months to replace floor tile coming up in kitchen; dryer lint build up in exhaust; broken ceiling fan still not replaced after 11 months; lawn grass over a foot high; dumpsters overflowing and remaining that way for 2 months. Winterwood is nothing but a predatory management company who will tell you to leave if you don't like it.

I love it here! It's a very nice looking, very clean place. I was able to get a very spacious apartment, with a nice little outdoor porch area. It's just been so convenient! They've got an elevator for getting to the upper floors, so it's easy to get around, and I like that I don't have to go outside in the weather to get my mail anymore!

At Elk River Senior everything seems good. I have no complaints. Everything here gets five stars from me. The facility is clean. The staff are friendly. It is a good value. I am very pleased with this facility.

The overall building is always clean and the mgr. is great. The maint. Person is a is on sight and very helpful. It is a very quiet and safe place to live. I'm soberly thankful that I found this wonderful place.
