Reviews
for Essex Nursing and Rehabilitation Center
My mom had two stints in the rehab facility, and everyone was wonderful: nurses, aids, therapists, front desk, finance director, etc. They took wonderful care of her, answered all of my questions, and always kept me informed of her care plans. Not to mention, everyone was so friendly and supportive. I highly recommend them for rehab.
Currently wondering why I was never informed of my great grandmothers passing i
Pleasant and caring people
My mother was there and it was awful. They told her to just go in her diaper if she had to go. Nobody still in their right mind wants to do that. She waited 45 minutes to an hour to get someone to help her to the bathroom. She would call me crying. The nurses wouldn’t help at all. They would let the memory care people roam the halls naked and wonder into other residents rooms where they would take their stuff and try to get in bed with them. When my mother died the staff went through her stuff and kept a lot of her personal items. They had it boxed up and bagged up and gave me what they thought I should have. I wasn’t allowed to get all of her things. Robert and his sister that are in charge are the absolute worse. He’s more interested in teaching classes than running that place. If you have no option like I did to put your loved one there, be prepared to go several times a week to check on them and stay a while. It was 5 years of pure hell.
The rooms are great with two beds. closet, nightstand and bathroom, my mom and brother love the food and the variety. The staff is great and always taking care of the needs of residents. My mom and brother are very happy. Currently they are both in rehabilitation. My mom will transition to living there permanently and maybe my brother. I can't say enough good things about Essex. Essex is definitely a hidden gem in south Louisville for nursing and rehabilitation. My sister and I love it.
My husband received excellent care from the staff of Essex during the year and a half he was a resident there. Very kind, attentive and skilled staff.
My great grandmother receives care there and she absolutely loves it!! The aides are so patient and caring with her. Definitely recommend! Essex
Everyone treats my grandmother like family . She moved in about 8 months ago & loves it so far.
I had hip surgery and it got infected. They didn't give me no antibiotics for it, All they did was charge the bandage.Sometimes it would take them 2days to get to me. ,I got very low platelets and low immune system.I believe they could have done a better job
My husband is at Essex Nursing & Rehabilitation Center. I like it. The facility is clean and nice. When my husband first got there, he was placed in the rehab section, and there was a lot of activity. They have a lot of meeting rooms where patients are meeting with each other or with their families. He was then placed in long-term care, so they have more handicapped people, and there are more people in their rooms most of the time. But my husband is still able to walk around and meet other people. It's very bright. The people are cheerful. My husband has had good care. The staff is mainly from the islands, so they are very cheerful. They are very good with the patients. I get to go to treatment planning sessions and so on. The staff is just very cheerful with the patients, and I love that.
Last time I visited this place my great uncle was laying in blood and they must’ve heard me say “OH MY GOSH YOUR LAYING IN BLOOD” really loud and about 5-10 mins later a couple nurses came in to fix him … it should’ve already been fixed … now they are saying he’s not doing well and has an infection from bed sores that they can’t fix he won’t have much longer it’s always something with this place my grandma went in there too from breaking her hip after leaving st Mary’s hospital (another place I will never go to again) and months later she was not doing good and going to hospice at home I willl neverrrr ever send my loved ones here again if it was my choice I would move him out of there and he may have a chance left
Essex is a great facility!! Their social worker Jamie is Astonishing!!!!!! I would give that woman a huge raise if i could. She walked me and my dad through the discharge process after a 2 year stay. I love Jamie and she will do amazing things for this world.
Great staff, my grandma received amazing care after a recent hospital stay
Fantastic Facility! Their social services director Jamie is fantastic she has helped my family through so much since we moved my mom into Essex she is a true bundle of joy!! Thank you essex 😁😁
My friend was pre-diabetic...now I'm sure she is diabetic...they have her on a carb consistent diet but a high carb diet...bread...pasta...it's amazing how they cram so many carbs in her meals...she is moving to another facility but not sure the damage can be reversed...no doctors appointments...nobody tells her what is going on when she asks...just a horrible place...needs to be shut down...💔
There are too many reasons to list why this place is horrible. My mother had an ICH and a Stroke, which left her unable to walk or talk. She was at Essex for almost a year. One day, after my mother had been there for 6 months, she was acting abnormally. I went to the LPN in her area and asked if they would check her blood sugar, I believed it to be high. She said, "why would I need to check her blood sugar?" I replied, "BECAUSE SHE IS DIABETIC" The nurse then argued with me that my mom was not diabetic. The entire time my mom was there, they had never once checked her sugar or gave her insulin.
Like a prison sign in and hope your loved one is brought out.
My father is being well taken care of when I have went to visit. It’s always clean and smells like vanilla.
Clean , nice employees , nice addition of the gym . Smells good too ( not like a nursing home)
good place and nice staff the PT is good too
This place is horrible, if you love your parent do not put them here. The staff could care less about your loved one.
Terrible care. My father, who has advanced dementia, had hip surgery. The only reason we agreed to do surgery was because we were told there are rehab facilities with physical therapists that work with dementia patients. He was at Essex for 2 weeks before PT even evaluated him, and then they signed off after 1-2 sessions because he couldn’t follow commands (due to his dementia.) His Hosparus nurses, who know my Dad very well, were allowed in to see him after he’d been there for 4 weeks - they reported he was unable to feed himself (the Essex staff told us he had been feeding himself,) had lost 12lbs, and that he wasn’t receiving his regular medications. The Hosparus nurses were very concerned with his condition when they evaluated him, but the staff at Essex had been reassuring us (i.e lying) that he was doing relatively well. I would not recommend this place.
You got nurses taking advantage of the covid situation and stealing narcotics from your dying loved ones to support their cocaine habit while they're working there... it's disgusting. And Mrs Catherine u probably work there.
This place is terrible. A lady I know said she was a prisoner in her room. Another man I know went to their facility for financial reasons. He was healthy when he moved in and in 2 weeks died of pneumonia. Everyone that had checked on him said they wouldnt let him sit up or have his wheel chair. No actual care is given its just a cheap prison.
My mother is here this place is terrible no help what so ever worst place in louisville.too much goofing off no one takes there job seriously .
I went through Essex Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Its a lot smaller, its not as nice looking, but I have a friend that works there, and she enjoys it because of the way they treat their people. The rooms were small and there was nothing fantastic about it. It was in a good location.
they took great care of my dad until he died one year ago. Clean, smells like sugar cookies and the staff is friendly and seem to enjoy their job.
I have no complaints about Britthaven of South Louisville (Essex Nursing and Rehabilitation Center) at all. They've been wonderful to my dad. The rooms are very nice and clean, and the food is very good. They have a lot of activities for them. They have an area where they can go outside, and they have a fishing pond where they can sit and watch the fish. The nursing staff is wonderful. They play bingo and they had a 4th of July celebration for the residents and their families. They try to get the families as involved in all the activities as possible. Every Sunday they have different church groups that come out. They have a beauty shop where they get their hair done. They're remodeling all the rooms now.
This place is absolutely NOT a place for your family members or a place to work... the Aides are rude and disrespectful... they will go outside and leave lights going off till they feel to answer them...this place is ran by macronation Aides NOT the D.O.N or Administrator the nurses are just as rude and disrespectful as the Aides.. they don't do 2 hour check and change your family member will be lucky if they are cared for like they deserve. TRUST ME think twice before this place.
My dad transferred to Essex Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. It was clean. The staff was very nice and accommodating, and there were three nurses at the time. They had a physical therapy room, a salon, and an activities director.
My mom is in Essex and they're very caring and attentive. I like how they give my mom stuff to do. I like everything about them and so far it has been excellent. It really surpassed my expectations. My mom plays the keyboard so they take her to the keyboard they have there. They have concerts during the week, and they have a courtyard. There are many things that I saw on my mom's schedule that she can do if she wants. They serve three meals a day and snacks, and the food is good.
Not only keep your loved ones away from there, never work there. They are slave drivers. Never enough help and too much work load.
Horrible dirty keep your loved ones out of there
My mother is in Essex Nursing, and Rehabilitation Center. It's very good, and they were one of the top places in the State. We liked the proximity to my place of residence. It's local. I know the administrators. They are local people. The people that are working there had a long length of employment. There is a very low turnover ratio. She is in a double-bed hospital room, which is fair-sized; nothing elegant, it has curtains. It has a place for a sink, bathroom, a closet for each individual bed, and a nightstand. The food was bland to my taste though.
Wonderful place.
