Thank you to the healthcare teams that work together to provide the best possible care to keep our loved ones safe and healthy, so they can spend more time with family as they age. They are able to provide the constant 24 hour care that we as a family are not able to provide in a safe environment. I enjoy how the staff interact with residents and how they have given my Mom a cute nickname! Mom tells me how good the staff is to her, of course she has some favorites. Blessing to you all!
My time at Helmwood was wonderful. The staff was amazing to work with, so friendly, funny and easy to get along with. My supervisor Letisia was absolutely amazing, I loved cooking in the kitchen and knowing I was doing an act of love making sure the residents had a good complete healthy meal everyday.
My loved one has been a resident at Helmwood since August 2021. I have been in the facility at different times of the day on different days. Nurses are attentive to her needs, and they keep me informed of any changes to her care. The CNAs that I have encountered love my friend and treat her with love and respect.
The front office staff are friendly and go the extra mile to help when I have questions or need clarifications or documents. The social worker is a dependable liaison when I need to get information from her or another employee. The activities director and assistant are encouraging to the residents and are always upbeat during recreation time. Care conferences are regularly scheduled, and participants are always well prepared during our meetings. I am so thankful for Helmwood Healthcare staff!
As a retired dialysis worker, I can say our patient’s that were in this facility were treated excellent. They got to their appointments on time, and they were happy, and clean. We didn’t see that with the patient’s that came from other facilities. They all raved about the kindness of the employees, the great care they received, and the yummy food!! This is the only place I would trust to take care of a family member.
Unspecified · February 2025 Helmwood is an excellent facility with such a home like feel. There are many options in Elizabethtown, and Helmwood is by far the best.
Unspecified · February 2025 If I could give less than 1 star I would. This place is horrible. My dad was there to recover from a Spinal Fusion and a hip fracture with repair. He was there x2 days and I sat with him from 8am-8pm each day for safety. I know first hand no one ever came and offered him water, no one offered him to use the bathroom or change his brief in case he was incont, meds were always given late, call light response time was at least 60 minutes, staff attitude was awful. We were promised 1 hour of PT/OT/ST each day and he was only given 30 min. I reported issues to the DON with no resolution. Horrible!! I was luckily there to provide the care my dad needed however what about the residents who do not have a family to adovocate for them? Sad Sad Sad. Please don't let your family members go here---take them to the SNF at Hardin Memorial---1 million times better!!!
I have had loved ones here and they have been neglected. I never would have thought this place has such poor aides and nurses. They just do not care, they lie for each other . Residents pay almost $7,000 a month to be there and they cannot even meet the elderly there's basic needs to say the least.
Unspecified · December 2016 My Mother was a recent patient at Helmwood Rehab. She will be 89 in January she was there for rehab from a broken hip and arm..We were ask to bring a inhaler for her Asthma from home which we did. We reported in a progress meeting we did in fact bring it in there were two staff members present at that meeting. Two days later a Nurse had three aids come to her room and hold her down against her will and the Nurse went between her legs and took the extender to her inhaler which had no medication in it. They pined both arms against her wheel chair and left a bruise on her arm that was broke. Three women restrained. 88-89 year old woman for a inhaler extender. She was traumatized to say the least, she was afraid and felt un safe. If you have are you are thinking of taking a loved one to this facility please keep a close watch on them. This is against all Medicare and Kentucky State laws.
They treat everyone like they are stipid, a thieve.
My brother was at Helmwood Healthcare for rehabilitation. He had some physical disabilities that had to be dealt with that we couldn't do at home, so he was there for three months. Helmwood is very nice. It's very clean and homey. They tried to make everyone feel at home. They had a lot of personal touches. The rooms weren't really large, but they were large enough. Everyone who lived there has some of their own furniture and easy chairs and television. If you needed nursing care, they were able to isolate you with some curtains that would pull out. It was just a very nice, updated facility.
The staff was very nice, very pleasant, easy to talk to. They seemed to really care, took the time to know every person individually. They really took a lot of interest in my brother. They do in-house activity every day. They have a church, and they go outside of the facility at least once a week. They've gone bowling, and they've just done a lot of different things. The food was pretty good. The best thing, I think, was the personal care and personal attention that they gave. They have an interest in every individual. He was happy there.
