Reviews
for Highlands Health and Rehabilitation Center
If you care about your loved one do not put them here. Staff hardly takes care of residents theyre fed the bare minimum they don’t do the therapy residents need. If the resident gets sick or has a medical issue they wait last min to send to a hospital and then won’t contact the family about it they never answer the phone
Review: A Facility Defined by Neglect and Indifference Rating: ★☆☆☆☆ Leaving a loved one at Highlands Nursing and Rehab was the worst mistake our family made. After five years of residency on the first floor, it became clear that this facility operates with a complete lack of basic hygiene, medical oversight, and human decency. Systemic Neglect The facility is consistently unkept, but the personal neglect is far worse. My mother was rarely bathed or provided with the fundamental care she deserved. The employees are not just incompetent; they are indifferent to the physical well-being of the people in their charge. Medical Gross Negligence The most horrifying experience occurred on Christmas Day when my mother suffered a stroke. The staff failed to notice or intervene until I arrived and pointed out that something was wrong. When I insisted that an ambulance be called, the staff member on duty responded by rolling her eyes at me. ### Zero Accountability or Compassion I was left entirely on my own to coordinate with the ambulance while the staff ignored us. Following that emergency, my mother passed away in hospice as a result of the stroke that went unnoticed by this facility. In the time since her passing, not one person from Highlands has reached out to offer condolences or even a follow-up call. Final Warning This is no way to run a healthcare facility. They treat life-threatening emergencies as an inconvenience and treat grieving families with total silence. If you are looking for a place where your loved one will be safe, clean, and cared for, look elsewhere. This facility is a danger to its residents.
My mother was at this awful facility when she would get a visitor her emergency call button would always be out of her reach she fell out of the bed three times the last time she fell she was found on the floor her nails where blue due to lack of oxygen. When she got to the ICU she had phenomia so bad that she had to be put on life support she was on a ventilator for a month then they had to put a trach in she is now in a rehabilitation center she's still very ill. This nursing home let her lay there until she was almost dead. While she was at the hospital they lost her belongings pictures that we can never get back her dentures and eye glasses. Do not put your loved ones in this awful place I don't even know why they are still in business. I wouldn't even give this place the thought of a star. But I had to give at least on star to post this review. Y'all should be ashamed of yourselves
What a RIP off for sure they make you mark in your clothes and they still lose them and say its your fault by saying was your name in them well I have family members who had had my name and room number inboard on them and I don't have a single one and the people in the office just blow you off like your a peasant I sorry but this is a very bad place and I'm probably going to be kicked out for this review but I'm thinking living in my truck will be better than this cause I could go on and on but I'm not somebody help please it's just some clothes but where does it stop and you don't want me to put pictures on here lol and there's more but let's see what they say about this its ashame that I have to do this yours truly, JIMMY HESTER
Great employees and staff
I highly recommend Highlands Nursing and Rehabilitation. I recently had to admit my father into a facility, and Highlands was outstanding! The decision to move a loved one into a facility is very difficult, and the process can be very overwhelming. Tayra Bright, the Marketing and Admissions Director, made a special visit to the facility on a Saturday evening when he was admitted, just to welcome Dad and reassure him that he would receive excellent care and they truly delivered. The facility was clean, and the staff were all very kind, compassionate, and patient with both him and me.
This is a great place. I’ve been here for years and there is no place I’d rather be. The staff is great and friendly as can be.
My mother spent her final days here in dignity. The staff was not only professional but kind and compassionate as well. I spent later mornings and evenings there, and my brothers spent early mornings and afternoons with our mother. We were never relegated to forming a schedule to visit and care for our mother. My siblings and I were encouraged to take opportunities to create a comforting environment for mom by bringing familiar items from home to her..... We encountered a couple of hiccups during her stay, but they were quickly rectified without hesitation or complaint. Thank you for allowing us to spend time with our mother and assist with her comfort measures under our terms. It meant the world to us then, and nearly six months later, brings us comfort.
My mother has had wonderful care at Highlands. The building has been updated and feels clean and fresh. The staff from the front office to the nursing staff has been kind and caring. I can't say enough good things about the way they have treated my mother and our family.
The team at Highlands is doing great job! This facility has improved beyond belief and the team working hard to make it happen are top notch! The care residents receive is provided with love and respect and the facility is kept clean and nice! Come visit us and see for yourself! Great things are happening here!!
I have been here for a year and 3 months, l also have been in diffrent nursing 4 different times. No place is perfect, but being here is one of the better places. When I have had problems they have acted in a positive way , to resolve the problem. The nurses and aids are very caring, and understand my needs , my jokes an best of all my pranks. My room is kept kept clean an slowly the food is getting betterwhich is hard thing to do
Recently visited a family member in this facility. It is a very nice and comfortable place. The staff genuinely cares for the residences here.
My grandmother who has dementia is a patient here and is doing SO well at this nursing home. They have friendly nursing staff, follow proper protocol when it comes to care and help for their patients. They’ve been nothing but kind to me coming and going from the facility. They notify me if she is sick or not doing well. I really Couldn’t have asked for a better place for my grandma to stay and receive 24/7 care!
My Mother has been at Highlands for almost a year now. We have been grateful for their care of her. Very nice people working and caring for the residents there. My only negative comment is that my Mother’s eyeglasses disappeared. Thank you.
The nursing and social services have taken wonderful care of my brother. Initially had a problem with the billing office, but that was quickly rectified. On my visits, the building has always been clean and the staff is very friendly.
Highlands is a great place! The renovations really improved the overall appearance of the building! The staff and management really care about the residents.. The DON is amazing! I’m really impressed with this building now!
The staff was wonderful polite and informative. The establishment was nice and clean looks well maintained. The residents look well taking care of keep up the good work ❤️
Very good place for the residents to live. They have done renovations here and it looks better from when I previously visited. The staff is very friendly and you can tell they are passionate about what they do and they care for the residents. They also have a lot of recreational activities for the residents to do which is really amazing. My grandmother stayed here before she passed. I am definitely bringing my mother here also. Recommend it to anyone!
Great job on health care Highland
Es un lugar muy maravilloso. Las personas allá son super nice.
New to Highlands Nursing and Rehabilitation. Very friendly staff. Wonderful Facility.
Wow! BIG and awesome changes are happening at the Highlands….new leadership with new attitudes! The building looks great and the smiles on both the staff and resident faces say it all! Come check us out! We are so proud of what we have accomplished.
With the new leadership the place is really looking great. We see a large boost in moral as well.
This place has changed so much lately, with renovations and staffing changes. Definitely a big turnaround from how it used to be!
I have been here for over 4 Years and I have personally seen so many improvements. The staff here is friendly, and works hard in an effort to make Highlands Nursing and Rehabilitation the best it can be. The word team is alive and well here.
Hi, I have a loveone who's a resident and they are receiving poor care specially weekend staff. I understand being short on and over work and underpaid staff. But No one deserves unhealthy care. The disabled Seniors are left in bed all day and a lot of times in soiled conditions. with unresponsive uncaring staff. This is Not and will Not be accepted.
Every time I asked to be transfered to a department, I get sent to a voicemail that does not return calls. This is not the easiest place to get into contact with who you need to be in contact with when you need to inform staff about a resident.
Highlands has a very STRONG team and caring care team members! Thank you for all you do on a daily basis for your residents ❤️ I look forward to my next visit
Wonderful team! Great atmosphere
No complaints, just can't seem to get paid despite multiple attempts to make contact. Update: the number I was given does not connect me to owner.
When my Aunt had to go to a long term care facility I was so flustered and confused with all the various aspects of choosing a facility. Everywhere i went it was like buying a car, high pressure sales tactics. Then I called the Highlands nursing home and spoke with the Admissions Administrator, Simone. She was so understanding and empathetic to our situation. We met and viewed the room which she said would be my Aunt's. Of course my Aunt was worried about a T.V which Simone promised she would have and delivered on her promise. From start to finish I felt as did my Aunt that Simone was genuine and cared. She was like an additional member of the family and I swear my Aunt might very well still be living with me and not getting the care she needed without Simone. God bless the Admissions Administrator Simone of the Highlands....
Literally my uncle Mr. Brown died on a Saturday morning a few months back. The CNA told their staff nurse Teresa an older black nurse that he did not look like himself. The nurse refused to go into the ROOM CAUSE SHE WANTED TO START AND FINISH HER MORNING MED PASS!!!!!! Several minutes later she went in the room and asked my uncle if he had a stroke!!!!!! HOW THE HELL WOULD HE KNOW IF HE HAD A STROKE?!!!!!!!!!! Thank god for that white ageny CNA from Alabama she started cpr and yelled for help. An aid and an ageny nurse went in to help. If it wasn't for them he would've died at the facility but he ended up dying several days later. THE HIGHLAND STAFF, THEY SUCK AND ARE NOTHING BUT LAZY INDIVIDUALS THAT DO NOT CARE FOR THE PATIENTS AT ALL.
Samone you rock. Everything I've needed you stepped up and taken care of. You even carried my tv up. Thank you soo much!
After caring for my wife's mother for 30 years, and because of her decline we had to make this decision for her mother's own safety. The staff at Highlands is amazing. CNA April and Terry treat their patients as if they were their own parents. That alone is a big relief knowing that the care is so personal. In fact, her mother loves it there. The administration is also amazing and will handle all the paperwork, especially the medicaid. We were shocked to see all the negative reviews and glad that the new ownership has made the changes needed to excel this facility to the top. If your aging parents need a short term rehab, or long term care, I would recommend that you at least visit this facility. No matter which facility you choose, visit as much as you can. It's the least you can do.
