Reviews
for Homestead Post Acute
The world was in a different century when was the last time I was there at Homestead Nursing Home plus I use to work there . Anna Henry
My mom went in for rehab. This place is sad. They serve THE same thing EVERY DAY for breakfast. They left my mom in the bathroom for 15-20 minutes. The pull cord did not work and she even had a bell to use and they claimed they could not hear it. She finally had to yell to get someone to come and help her. She has been ignored before for other reasons as well. They finally told me that my mom was going to her assisted living place after I learned about it from my mom and that was 3 days later. The case worker even asked me if I could transport her to her assisted living place. I told him No. They have their own vans to do that on the premises to do that. LAZY and unprofessional. She did get transportation. I am really NOT impressed with it.
My mom fell out of bed last month on a Sunday. She complained the her leg hurt. Homestead didn’t take her to the hospital until a Tuesday. When she arrived at the hospital she was dehydrated, had low blood count , needed blood transfusion, and she had broken her left femur. Sadly, mom passed after surgery to repair the broken femur. She died of a heart attack.
Mama loves all the nurses, physical therapists and especially the social worker. The business office and social worker worked tirelessly to help us!!!!!
Wouldn’t recommend to place to anyone. You call to check on a loved one and the phone at the nurses desk just rings and rings. My mom was there for only three and a half days and no one would let me know how she was doing. She’s in the hospital with Covid and no one from the facility called to let me know she had been taken to the hospital. Bad business
My loved one was previously a resident at Providence Homestead and our experience there was very good. Communication with the family was good. They were very good about keeping us informed and answering our questions. Our only problem was that it was far from home, but good care for my loved one that was necessary.
Friend of mine was there. They lost her medication on more than one occasion. Lost her appeal paperwork.Released her unable to walk, feed herself, and only use of one arm. She also has Parkinson's .Also said she would have homecare, and in home and in home physical therapy, no instructions of when or how this will start. The bare minimum care was provided.
I have called 3 days in a row to get information on my grandfather they pretend like they can't hear you when you call place you on hold and never return your call I have contacted a few places about this business to file complaints hands down the most unprofessional facility I have ever seen
Nice and clean facility, staff very friendly and helpful!!!👍🏿✨️
My father moved into Homestead Post Acute. They're so understaffed. He has a nice room. It's got a huge bathroom. I mean, it's really nice. It's a lot nicer than the other one that my friend was in actually. The room, as far as it was, I'm surprised that it was this big. He does have a roommate. So the first couple of days there -- he's 85, so he's really old fashioned -- the roommate that they had put him with, didn't want to keep his clothes on for whatever reason, and that really bothered my dad with me coming in and out of there. We would pull the curtain and the guy would push the curtain back. Dad mentioned it to the staff. So then they moved Dad's roommate. It's like they were trying to team up with someone that's more compatible or whatever. I really liked that they did that as well. The food looks good to me. He says, "Some of that stuff I don't want." He's going to have to try new things. But the meals look good and then they have snacks throughout the day. He said they either put it down on the table like in a TV room, or they'll come in and ask him if he's in his room.
The staff is very nice but underpaid and understaffed. This place is designed to cash government checks on your behalf and provide the bare minimum required to keep themselves out of court. If you can avoid it, do not let these people make money off of your loved one.
Best group of employees anyone could ever ask for !! Highly recommend
The level of care my wife’s grandmother got here was a joke. Don’t trust these people
Great facility
My mother in law was there a month this summer. It was not and continues to not be a good experience. She came home with EKG glue still on her from a month earlier. We have been trying to get her clothes for over a month...they lost most of them, not sure how. We had pictures of her clothes and receipts of new clothes. We were promised a check after providing estimates and receipts but still haven't gotten a check or clothes. Very disappointing, wish we hadn't let her go there.
We admitted my Mom at Homestead in 2016. Everything was great until 2019 when a new Administrator took over. His name is Justin. From November 209-January 2020, Mom became sick with the Flu and Pneumonia twice. I went over to check on her at 1 AM because she was not answering her phone. That caused a stink evidently because Justin called me into the office over me coming to check on Mom at “late hours”. I asked the charge nurse to go and check on Mom when I arrived because I could not wake her up when I was in her room. She said, “ That is the job of the 7 AM nurse, not mine. “ And she walked away! Justin called me into his office and threatened to "Ban Me" from seeing Mom if I continued to come at "late hours". You see, these people forget that we (Mom and her family) pay their salaries! They are on our payroll! The level of respect dwindled and we moved mom to another facility. Do not put your loved one at Homestead Nursing Home.
Great Facility. Great Care and Concern for their patients. Vey very Clean. Everyone in the facility is very friendly. Keeps you updated on your family member. Does alot of programs for the patients. Has a calendar letting people know what each months activities are. By far the BEST of the 3 he has been in. KEEP UP THE GREAT JOB ALL OF YOU ALL ARE DOING.
My husband came to Pine Meadows for rehab and was very curious on having any success. To our amazement the Rehab Department exceeded our expectations on my husband being able to return home. Thank you so much for a successful ending since my husband is going home. Also, everyone was so nice and friendly in all areas and always double checked to make sure he was comfortable or needed anything. The meals were well planned and he seldom left anything on his plate. Excellent service and would recommend to anyone in need of rehab.
Thanking Pine Meadows for the care they give to my mom who is blind, unable to stand nor walk and needs pureed food to eat. Mom unable to feed herself is fed by caring employees who may sometimes play her favorite tunes to get her smiling while she eats. I'm grateful for all the caring nurses,(who have recognized an on set of illnesses and have quickly administered the correct medication for her survival), nurses aides, nutritionist, administration, and all staff including the receptionists that help to make this facility a special place for mom.
Excellent care and wonderful staff!
Knowledgeable staff and clean facility. The Nurses truly care about the residents and go out of their way to make sure that everyone is safe and happy. The activities directors are top notch and the social workers and therapists are loving and kind. Great place to be.
Wonderful Facility with wonderful Residents and Staff!! Great activities daily for the residents.
The food and the people here are very nice. The nurses, therapists, and doctor are killer. I liked my time here. I spent three weeks here, and everything was nice. It was clean, and the staff was attentive. Also had good therapy. They let you do what you can to get healed. They don't force you to work more than you can.
The staff is excellent and everything they have done for our father has been amazing. They are very gracious and loving. My father is very ill and we were getting ready to plan a funeral because of his condition. Since being here for only three days we have seen a miraculous improvement already. The staff are so loving and have been amazing for my father. The different facilities he has been in have been dirty, they didn't pay attention to him, and we feel that he didn't have a voice. Pine Meadows has been the perfect place for our father and we are tickled to death to have him here in a clean, loving environment.
My elderly mother has been here on three separate occasions and liked it there. I am writing this review because I saw a terrible review about this facility and I was surprised since my mother was never treated badly at this facility. First of all, yes, the residents do congregate in certain areas in the hallways but they are not ignored in any way. Secondly, I have never witnessed an employee being cruel or negligent to a resident. From my experience they are very nice and attentive to their residents. The meals are good and the residents can go to the kitchen door in the dining area and get snacks and drinks at anytime during the day. I'm not disregarding that someone else might have had a bad experience but my mother was treated very well.
My mother has been a long term resident of Pine Meadows for almost a year and half. I should begin my comments by saying that the very last place that my mother wanted to be was in a nursing home. We all hear the awful and depressing stories that come from long term care facilities. As her dementia and Alzheimer's status grew worse, it became painfully obvious that caring for her at home was no longer an option. I will say this to anyone taking care of your loved one with this disease. You will sacrifice the health and safety of your own family along with your loved one. You will do this because of the great love for them. In the end, you will end up taking care of them in your home far longer than you are able or should. You will do it anyway. With the Alzheimer's patient, it is inevitable that you will have to look for a long term care solution for your loved one. One of my first recommendations for you will be to enlist the services of a lawyer that specializes in elder law in you can. There are a number of issues that will arise. The quicker you can involve the elder attorney, the easier some of these issues will be handled for your loved one and family. One of the things that I have come to appreciate as a family member is the family type approach that the staff at Pine Meadows takes with my mother. On my most recent visit with my mother, I had at least 6 different interactions with staff members. This ranged from the facility administrator, various therapy techs, nurses, and aides. As we were walking down the hallway, each smiled, spoke kindly to my mother, patted her shoulder, and asked how she was doing at that moment. What struck me was that they also spoke to me, gave me updates, and generally felt comfortable to call me by first name. When I receive calls from the nursing staff, they are always extremely caring and pleasant. My mother's nurses and I are comfortable enough that first name basis is a norm for us. As you become a caregiver for someone, you know that you will have several connections with medical professionals over time. I appreciate a professional approach at times, however, I have grown to love that the staff feel comfortable enough to call me by the same name that my mother uses. In a way, it helps me feel as though I have family along side me there caring each day for my mother. To me it is the staff that make the facility what it is. The rest is just walls and paint. Every place in town has those. What is between those walls means more to my mother and I. It takes a little time, but build those relationships with the staff members and you will not be disappointed. Because I love my mother, I am more than comforted that the staff at Pine Meadows has grown to love her too.
My husband stayed at Homestead and the therapy team and nursing team worked with him so he got stronger. He was able to come back home with me after staying for a few weeks on the rehab unit.
its very clean and organized
The care this facility exuded in regards to my grandma's care in her last days is beyond words. My grandma was cared for with the utmost respect and compassion and was only at Pine Meadows for a week, transferring from another facility after leaving the hospital. In addition, they came to assist my uncle twice as he had two seizures, two days in a row while visiting his mother. I can't say enough about how wonderful the staff is at Pine Meadows! My family would like to thank each and every one of you that assisted in any way possible with the care of the patient that was in room 115.
Please read if considering this place!! My elderly mother needed to be discharged to a rehab facility, possibly long term. I was given Pine Meadows’ name along with some others by the Case Manager at Baptist Hospital to tour first before I made any decisions. I made that appointment was greeted with warmth and toured the facility. I liked the smallness “family feel” like the administrator stated and that there was one central nursing station. I peaked into a room where I saw a bed, nightstand and chair. Upon arrival, my mother was hurried into her bed by the ambulance staff, the Pine Meadows staff was hurried and rushed in their demeanor to her and to me. I asked for a recliner for her because I didn’t want her to be in the bed all day, only to be told she wouldn’t be, she’d be in a wheelchair! Plus, I was told they don’t have recliners, but I can bring my own! I advised her tech and nurse she is able to get up and use the restroom with assistance, but can’t wait 10 mins after pushing her call button. The tech insisted she wear “depends”! I and my mother refused. I was told upon admittance she would be a getting a “goody bag” with toiletries and some wash cloths and towels. In the night my mother pushed the call light because she had to move her bowels. No one came so she insisted to get up on her own , (which she was not cleared to do) and walk to the bathroom where she left a trail of feces to the toilet. She continued to need assistance and pulled the emergency cord next to the toilet for help to clean herself and for someone to remove the feces on the floor before she stepped in it and slipped. No one came so she tried to clean it herself, having stepped in it. She continued to walk out into the hallway until someone noticed her and helped her back into bed. No one checked to see if she was clean or if she had feces on her feet, which she did, which transferred to her bed!! The same thing happened to her roommate where she pushed her button and needed assistance, who is immobile and messed her bed!! When I arrived at 11:30 am the next morning, she had dried feces caked on her leg, her socks and her bed. I went to wash it off, but of course she had no toiletries bag with soap, nor any washcloths or towels! I had to use a rough paper towel with the soap from the facility soap dispenser to wash off the poop and dry her leg! I took upon myself to discharge her in LESS than 24 hrs of her admittance!! Upon leaving I saw a recliner sitting amongst a bunch of wheelchairs down her hallway, What a joke!!! The one star rating was for the few who were nice and helpful! Otherwise I would’ve wanted a “no star”. Many other opinions and ratings but I’ll stop here!
I have been to Homestead many times to visit residents and meet with staff. I am very impressed with the level of care that is given, the attention to detail by administration, and the quality of therapy by the therapist. I would be happy to have any of my loved ones stay at Homestead Post Acute.
I did clinicals for my CNA course here and loved the facility Staff are hardworking and really CARE. The "mentors" I had were good teachers and went the extra mile. I have seen facilities that were completely dismal before. Pine Meadows was clean and nice looking, and had an overall positive atmosphere. Both residents and staff seemed happy to be there.
They do not listen to the residents. A little lady who was stranding on the hall wanted to use the restroom, when I asked the nurses at the station one of them replied "okay thank you" in a really annoyed way. I continued walking to where I was heading and kept on looking back to see if they attended the lady, but they didn't move a finger. They were still chatting about useless things. It's not like they were busy. Awful place, my friend's granny will be taken awar from them soon.
My father in law was at Pine Meadows and we visited weekly. Every time we went in to visit he was happy and clean. He had made friends there which was really good for him. I am happy that the head nurse was always willing to talk with us about anything we needed. He liked going to therapy and got strong enough to go home. I really liked the Pine Meadows nursing home.
My mother was here for rehab on two separate occasions. She loved the staff, enjoyed the food, and responded well to therapy. They had a fourth of July cookout accompanied with a concert. My mother appreciated the opportunity to play the Star-Spangled Banner on the piano to begin the concert. Even though she was anxious to get back home, just as anyone would be, she enjoyed her stay at Pine Meadows and was content there.
I am currently interning at Pine Meadows and having a great experience thus far! The staff has been incredibly welcoming and informing throughout the past few months that I have been here. The residents are all so sweet and such a pleasure to interact with on a day to day basis.
What type of nursing/rehab facility would deny a patient admission because they are AFRAID of taking care of their trach site? The only care required for the trach site is changing the gauze and bandages...that doesn’t sound to difficult to me! Why would anyone want to have their family member in a facility that is not capable of providing routine nursing care! Thank goodness my Dad did not get admitted to this unprofessional, unreliable, incapable facility!!
I had to call Adult Protective Services on this facility for neglect of my mom who has been there for 3 weeks. Among many other things, she fell twice and no one bothered to help her up for over 20 minutes. They also left her in her wheelchair in a hallway for 9 hours straight, 4 days in a row. When I asked them why they would do that, the nurse said she is a fall risk and they have to watch her. So, she has to sit in a wheelchair staring at the wall for 9+ hours a day? She is weak and can barely sit up, much less for 9 hours a day. Worst of all, they left her sitting in her own feces in the wheelchair for over 2 hours. She already has a sore on her bottom from this place. Some of the staff is good and kind to her, but most of them are very uncaring and ignore her when she calls for them. She begs them to help her and they ignore her. The administrative staff is uncaring as well, they glossed over any concerns I have expressed regarding my mom's care. I regret the day I let her go to this place.
My mom is in Pine Meadows and it has been a horrible experience. She has bruises all over her arms from the staff being very rough with her. She is suppose to be there for rehabilitation as she was in the hospital for over 3 weeks and is no longer ambulatory. She calls for help to go to the bathroom and they make her wait for a long time to take her, then she has an accident. They put adult diapers on her because they rarely get to her in time. MY MOM IS YOUNG- she is only 76 and very capable of knowing when she needs to use the bathroom. When they take her to the bathroom, they leave her sitting on the toilet for 15-20 minutes until they come back to help her get back in bed. She is not eating and noone seems to care. Worst of all, when I asked about the bruises on my mom, they LIED and said she had no bruises. Thankfully, I have PHOTOS of the bruises, only when I told them that I had photos did they confess to her having them. DON'T send your loved ones to this horrible facility. It is a very SAD place where NOBODY walks. They are suppose to be a short term rehab, but NO patient in the whole facility is ambulatory. They all sit around in wheelchairs in the hallways being ignored. The staff lies. My mom fell and the nurse noted in her chart that I was contacted, but they did not contact me. Lies, deceit, ABUSE! TERRIBLE, TERRIBLE place!
The girl that answered the phone had obvious anger issues. Someone should send her to get that checked out. If it's your job to answer phones, you shouldn't yell at people who call.
My grandmother was recently in this facility and I regret it. At first it was great then went down hill quickly. Went to visit her on Christmas Eve and walked into my grandmother in so much pain, dried up vomit on the floor and on her clothes with the call bell still laying on her bed. There is no telling how long she was laying there not checked on. I'm a CNA and I've worked in these same facilities, I understand they are understaffed and over worked but there is no excuse why the NURSE did not check on her, there were multiple people literally right down the hall in the nurses station just sitting there. Unfortunately my grandmother passed away the next day but fortunately she was sent to the hospital to get the proper care and be pain free with family surrounding her. I have so much frustration with this place and if you do have to send your loved ones to a nursing home or rehabilitation please do you research and review everything about the place. I hope this has helped.
My mother is there and on weekdays it stinks they don't want to feed her and they steal her soda's we leave for her.
Nauseating
My mother in law lives here and she loves her home! She is so happy and well cared for, lots of fun activities.
Homestead was very nice. I met very nice people there.
I stayed in the rehab. wing after having had knee replacement surgery. My call button calls were responded to promptly, the workers were so uplifting that it would have been hard to get depressed, the physical and occupational therapists were so helpful and interested in helping me improve my mobility. I really couldn't have asked for a better place to be to recover. The food was the only thing that was not wonderful, but then that's typical for that kind of facility where so many are being served.
Homestead was recommended to my father. It was nice and clean. They kept the smell down really good and it doesn't smell of a nursing home. The staff were not afraid to bathe people. They're not shy to come in and help you to make sure you're clean. They offered bingo and card games.
Homestead Nursing and Rehab Center is a really great nursing home facility. I think that the staff really care for the residents, and take care of both their physical and emotional needs. I was very impressed with the manner that my mother was cared for, and I knew that she was getting the best level of care in the area. I have toured other facilities in the Lexington area and I found the Homestead Center one of the friendliest and most well managed. I also have experience with this facility because my great aunt received rehabilitation services here after her knee surgery. She was able to regain confidence, strength and mobility after a very challenging surgery, and the staff was very understanding. You could tell that they identified with her, and that they were experienced in their craft. If you are in the Lexington area and you are trying to find nursing or rehabilitation for someone you care about, take a tour or talk to the administrators at Homestead. They will be able to give you options and answer your questions.
