I don’t even want to leave the one star, I would not let this place take care of my dog!! They left my mother lay for hours without checking on her without changing her, without turning her, she developed a stage 4 bedsore. Do not let your loved one go here!!

My mother has moved into Kingsbrook Lifecare Center. It's been great. They've been good to her, and it's a clean facility. There's plenty of staff to care for people. They're not waiting for half hours or hours for attendance. They keep good staff. She likes the food. She brags about how good the food is and there's plenty of it. The rooms are very roomy. There's plenty of room for a guest and a wheelchair to get in and out. They have a lot of activities for the residents. They take them on outings. She hasn't been there long enough to enjoy any of the other stuff, but so far, she's really happy with it. All the nurses are very kind and attentive. They don't just fill it with a bunch of people to change a bedpan. They've got LPNSs and RNs and plenty of qualified staff. The landscape is good in the summertime. She's been there before, and there are a lot of places you can take them for walks outside. The facility itself is really kept up nice. They're a part of the University of Kentucky and King's Daughters Medical Center, they're all in one, so they keep it up. From what I've seen from other residents, it looks like they have a lot of activities. Value for money is good. Everybody would like to get a cheaper price, but compared to prices in Kansas City where I'm from, they're half-priced. You're talking $404 a day in Kansas City, and here you're talking $202 a day. That's a big difference in prices, so you're getting your money's worth.

I have seen some bad reviews for kingsbrook. But my dad was there July-Aug. And I'm truly Thankful for the staff. They treated him like ,he was their dad. The nurses , aids even the lady cleaning his room. He had a UTI , (enough said ) I could not have taken care of him like they did. Not because. I'm not a nurse, because they have each other's back. And they make sure each patient has everything they need. They work together, they understood, that I didn't understand, the confusion caused by the UTI. And they treated me like family also. I got really close to so many of them. In just a short time. If my dad would EVER need them again. Yes he would go back. He came out , so much better. Alot of therapy, but better

My mom was at Kingsbrook Lifecare Center for rehab, and it was excellent. She was in a shared room (they also offer private rooms), and it's nice. She said the food was fine. They have a lot more volunteers coming in quite often than the other facilities. They have done some trick or treating and different things like that. They do shopping trips, as well as church services and crafts. There are people that come in like groups/volunteers. Their calendar looks pretty full.

This place is terrible. Wouldn’t allow them to care for my dying cat. They treated my aunt with everything but respect. She waited 30 minutes to an hour to use the bathroom, mind you, after the call button had been hit several times. When one of us, a family member would go get a nurse to tell them. After all of the family was gone, they would place my aunt in time out in a wheelchair, in the hallway “for causing problems.” They allowed her to fall in the floor, several times. The nurses were always rude and mean to her. She had constant panic attacks, due to the care she received. The food was always cold and looked like dog feces. My uncle signed her out early, to continue her PT at home, as she was only there for rehab and couldn’t continue to be treated that way any longer. If you care about your loved ones, absolutely, do not put them in their facility. Its beautiful on the outside, but the inside is a complete disaster. I hate to write a novel but people need to be aware of how awful this place truly is. 0-10, Id absolutely never recommend.

This is a place I wouldn't take my dog too, sister was there and her care was the poorest I had seen, she would lay in the bed for 30 mins to an hour to use the restroom, finally when a family member came they would have to go out and tell them because they sat there doing nothing. They would ignore the call light. When we said something then when we were gone they would be mean to my sister. Food was gross and always cold. They really have a pretty place but if you can't serve your patients well it may as well be nothing. I will make sure anyone that plans to go there changes their mind because I would recommend this place to anyone.

The first room I was given was half of a room which was divided by a curtain. The half which was to be mine was the size of a jail cell. It was so small that they was no way that I could maneuver my wheelchair around in it. I requested a larger room and was transferred to one the next day. Talking with the staff was fine. However, any request that you made to them was never followed through with--communication between staff members appeared to be non-existent. I had to ask everybody who I can in contact with what I wanted. There were NO activities held to enjoy. This was probably due to the pandemic. They did pass out a daily publication called "The Perk" that I enjoyed. I did not see any amenities--that is, if they had any. I only left my room for one hour per day and that was for rehab. My stay there was a nightmare. The neglect to other residents was apparent. I would not recommend this facility to anyone who you love. You put your call light on when you desperately need assistance/help and no body answers it for 30 minutes or longer. The attitude of all the staff (aides, nurses, etc.) is poor. You can tell that they are understaffed and overworked. The only way that I would return to this facility is it were the only one who had a bed available. This is so sad because it is a beautiful building and appears like it would be someplace you would want to be.

My family member received excellent care at Kingsbrook. It's a beautiful building with all the amenities, but more than that, it is the excellent quality of care the residents receive. Staff kept our family informed of everything. They were encouraging and helpful. My family member saw a major health improvement and was able to transition home. Staff was very detailed and intentional with all COVID precautions. Staff are well educated and are very caring. Rehab/therapy, activities, nursing, all were great. Dietary had delicious and nutritious meals. I'm grateful for Kingsbrook.

I talk to my Dad every evening at 7p. He tells me he is treated very good, he praises the food, and says he feels very safe in their care. He brags on his care providers. He feels they are very prudent in addressing issues around the Covid pandemic. He says he feels safe regarding infection control measures.

Don’t walk run from this place!!!! Our mother walked in and never walked out...physical therapy is almost nonexistent. No response to calls for help. Tried to give our mother wrong meds...care on weekends was even worse...if you must use their facility, only do so if there is someone available to stay with the patient. We removed our mother but it was too late...she never regained her strength.

Depending on what aide was on duty, the quality of care could be great or very poor. That is why I am giving this a 3 for a rating. Did notice urine smell there. Family member was allowed to sit even though she begged to use a bed pan for 2 hours and was just told to use the diaper that they had on her and then it took them forever to come back and change them. Complained and this situation was immediately addressed though. I hope the aide got fired. I do not feel justified in giving them a lower rating because the problems were addressed. However, if you have a family member or friend at this facility or any facility, I would recommend checking on them often and at random times.

Staff lost mother for nearly two hours and had no clue where she was. They made no attempt to find her. They overdosed her on a very serious medication. Changing diapers on bed ridden patients almost never happened. You had to chase down staff to get a diaper change or help or assistance. Residents were wheeled to a lobby each morning and left for hours without care, like herding cattle. Speech therapist tried to coerce us into long term care. Couldn't Wait to get mother out of their. One elderly lady called 911 and reported the place for neglect and abuse. They kicked her out. She died a few weeks later.

Well! Kingsbrook is a GREAT place to put yourfamily. Granted not all places are perfect but at least kingsbrook is not dirty and does not smell of urine. Really people who put things on here. Would not know good care if they saw it.

We had our mother there for dementia and she was overdosed 4 times, fell and broke her wrist because she was so drugged up. We went to the "top dog" of the facility and he told us maybe we should move our mother somewhere else. What a big help!!! Never take anyone there. This place is such a uncaring place.

My dad stayed twice within two years, both times he was treated with disrespect and this last time from May to June, he was given medicine he was allergic to and was over medicated, had things stolen out of his room that was not replaceable, some of the nurses are wonderful but for the most part, they see people as numbers not human beings... well never let him go there again

My relative stayed in this facility for rehabilitation after her second surgery. I will add to this list of unsatisfactory reviews of Kingsbrook. To say the least, the service was horrible and I would not recommend it to anybody. DO NOT SEND A RELATIVE HERE. IF THERE IS NO OTHER CHOICE, MAKE SURE A FRIEND OR RELATIVE IS ATTENDING TO THEM AT ALL TIMES. I felt bad that a lot of the patients on the same floor as my relative were much older and likely getting the same poor treatment. Their conditions seemed much worse and I cringe at the thought of how they were treated. The problems I had were as follows: As previous posters have mentioned, the staff did a poor job of attending to the patients. One time, for example, my relative needed a medication at night. It took them two hours after repeated calls to finally get that to my relative. They also failed to respond to a call for help in the restroom once - my relative had a hard time walking which made that a dangerous situation. Some of the staff was rude in addition to being unattentive. For example, one of the staff (as usual) ran late with the medication. When we brought up the medication being so late, the staff member gave a rude response. A stomach virus went around the area where my relative stayed. We asked for immodium, but they said that it wouldn't be needed and the virus would go away on its own. Given that they were health care professionals, we trusted their advice. Needless to say, my relative's condition does not improve after a couple days. After arriving home and taking a dose of immodium (we took advice from an RN we knew) it went away within a half day. I would avoid this place if at all possible. It's one thing when a business has a rude, unattentive staff as is seen in some places, but it is dangerous when it happens in a health care facility. I have friends who are nurses and when we described the scenario of this place to them, they recommended that my relative leave the facility and to not be nice about it. That's a short part of the experience we had, but we left the facility after three days. The nurse in charge mentioned that another patient was disgruntled and leaving the facility for the same reasons. I rate this facility a 1 star out of 5 and I would give it less if I could.

I had family in this facility and they were left alone most of the time. I checked on my family daily and spent many hours at Kingsbrook. I have nothing good to say about their care of patients 90 per cent of the time. If you want your loved one left alone all the time this is the place to take them. My loved one's room mate could not get them to answer her bell either. They would come in the room and say I will be right back, but they never came. The main office staff was rude, talked down to family members and complaints were overlooked. Please think long and hard before you leave a loved one in this place. I had no choice in the matter as Kingsbrook was the first open facility and my family member was having to leave the hospital. IF you have a choice, please look around the area for a better place that will truly "care" for someone you love.

Don't bring your loved one here unless you can be there with them 24/7. I can only speak about the wing my loved one was on and cannot speak about the other staff on other wings. Not everyone on that wing was inadequate at their job, but at least three quarters were and that's way too many to be working in this environment. I took my loved one out of that environment and don't care to tell anyone talking about taking someone there not to do so unless you can stay day and night with them. Overall rating would be a negative but it won't let me give that rate. I had to rate quality of care because there are a few good care givers. Helpfulness is poor they ignore you at the nurse's station and then act like you're a bother to them when they do acknowledge you. When I couldn't be there they were very rude to other family members. Not all their equipment worked (blood pressure, temperature etc.) and said they would come back and retake but never did (although they logged numbers). They dropped medication off in the room and didn't make sure it was taken; they just logged that it was taken. Wouldn't answer call button for 20+ minutes and would come in and say they would be right back; but never came back; I would have to go and get them. This is just a few and I mean a few of my concerns. I realize that this is a very hard job, but when you put the care of your loved one in their hands that's what they are trained for and they know what to expect when they chose that field. Why are you still there if you don't want to be a caregiver? Please like I said if you love the one you're thinking about placing there be prepared. It's beautiful on the outer shell, but the inside of the wing I dealt with was completely rotten!

We found the staff to be excellent. They were attentive to the needs of my family member. They made sure pain was controlled. Therapy group was great. Nursing, kitchen, and everyone else did a great job!

I was upstairs not in the alzeimers unit. Not much different. I asked the nurse for my pain meds every day time and time again and always had to wait for sometimes was 2 hours. And when i would go to therapy the nurse would just be sitting there laughing and talking... i would understand if she were busy but she was sitting while i was in pain. I wont go back

Our family has had a horrible experience with Kingsbrook. Maybe on a floor where people are lucid care is better, but on the alzhiemers floor you are lucky to get a diaper changed once a day. We have complained relentlessly, and still no improvement. Keep your chandeliers and grand piano's, and give basic care to your helpless residents.
