Reviews
for Madonna Manor
❤️❤️ My mother lived there for six years. She started in Assisted Living and ended her time in Skilled Nursing. She received exceptional care all her time there. We were treated with great respect, dignity and care! God bless the staff and residents of Madonna Manor!
LONG REVIEW BUT IF YOU PLAN TO PUT YOUR LOVED ONE HERE I WOULD READ THIS! My mother unfortunately was placed here from the hospital for rehab because all the other places were full. For the first couple of nights we thought this place might be ok until we started noticing things that was not good at all. My family is very close to my mom so one of us were there every night! we noticed that they were not changing her clothes for like three days in a row even when we asked them to! Food would be all over her tops! We would even lay clothes out on her bed and they would be there the next day untouched and her shoes were never on. My sister addressed this to the Director of nurses and the social worker and it was ignored. If they were not changing her clothes then they were not changing her depends which causes UTI'S! One night she was sent to the hospital in the middle of the night and our family was not notified. Again, my sister notified them about the situation. My mom wound up at the hospital from this facility with a severe UTI most likely from her depends not being changed or her catheter not being attended to. If you plan to put your loved one in Madonna Manor, you need to show up everyday and make sure they are getting the care they deserve! Do better for your facility Madonna Manor!! There are many family's out there depending on your facility to care for their loved one!! On behalf of myself and my family, we are VERY glad we got my mother out of there and in a much better facility!!
My mother is currently at Madonna Manor and I firmly believe they deserve more than 5 stars. Each time I am there, I am greeted by each staff member I pass in the hall. My mother is treated so wonderfully. Gabby frequently helps her and she is a Rock Star. I have seen her with many residents and she treats each one with so much love and care. I can not recommend Madonna Manor enough. They are truly amazing.
The skilled nursing facility did not offer quality care. The only reason I’d give it even one star is because the PT was good. The staff were indifferent to their patients and were defensive and unhelpful . We took my mother out.
Our mother loved her experience at the Clare Building, one of Madonna Manor’s independent living brownstones. Living in this beautiful, well-designed apartment enabled her to stay independent and included reasonable measures to help ensure her safety and well-being. This gave our family peace of mind while our mother continued to pursue her interests, hobbies, and faith life and keep up with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. The brownstone also offers plenty of space where we could spend time with our mother—on the patio and walking paths, in the common areas, and within her apartment. We are grateful for the incredible kindness of the independent living lifestyle coordinator, the Madonna Manor staff, and the other residents who became our mother’s friends.
Kind & Caring Employees at Madonna Manor
My mother is a resident of Madonna Manor. My sister and I are very pleased with the quality care she is receiving. She has developed great relationships with her caregivers and therapists. Each time we visit, her therapists go out of their way to chat with mom. I feel very comfortable talking to the staff if a concern needs to be addressed. Also, the dining room, the community gathering space, the beauty salon and the campus grounds are very inviting... sitting down by the lake or playing games by the fireplace are our favorite places.
Thank you, thank you, thank you to all the staff at Madonna Manor! Took amazing care of my mother in-law when she was there! They truly put their heart and soul into their work, and I couldn't imagine her staying anywhere else! Thank you all so much!
My father is a resident at Madonna Manor currently. He has been there almost 1 year. We are not happy with his care there. We pay 15k a month and I clean his room and do most of his personal care. He was found today with a saturated bed and clothing unchanged for 5 days, food all down the front of him.. He has gone 3 weeks without a bed bath. He’s also being treated for a skin based staph infection (from being unwashed and not changed often enough). I found feces covered towels in his bed last week. I’ve brought my concerns to management and nursing directors and had care conferences. I’ve contacted the state Ombudsman. I don’t know how to “fix” these issues and I’ve been told that staffing is adequate… adequate enough for CSI owners to make a profit. There are some caring, dedicated staff but they are overworked and the bad apples sour the entire experience there. MM, go ahead and comment. How about calling ME directly?
My mother was a resident at Madonna Manor skilled nursing for over 2 years. In that time, I was with her 5 days & 3 nights every week. My siblings were with her the other 2 days & 4 nights. We got to know many staff members and nearly all administrative & executive team members. We were there because we are a close knit family and didn't want our mother to be lonely. We were also her advocates. I have had multiple conversations with Denise, the executive director. I have had many conversations with the director of nursing. I will add that in the 2 years, there have been a minimum of 6 different people as director of nursing. Madonna Manor has immense staffing issues that continued to get worse. These staff shortages are especially in the areas of nurses and licensed nurse aides. These staff shortages are due to multiple reasons, the main reason is that Madonna Manor admittedly underpays their employees. Every decision maker I spoke to, including Denise, stated that they were aware that their employees are paid dollars an hour less than other close by facilities, with no shift differential for nights & weekends. Paying a shift differential seems common in the industry. So staffing levels for our loved ones is poor. Nearly every shift is understaffed. Staff turnover is constant. With that is low morale and poor continuity of care. The communication amongst nurses and aides is hit or miss. It cannot be relied on. We relied on our constant presence and strong advocacy for our mom. It was absolutely necessary at times. Our frustrations & concerns are well documented with the management team at Madonna Manor. Their response was a continuing decline in staffing levels and poorer quality staff. There are some great caring team members at Madonna Manor. These folks, along with our constant presence, insured my 102 year old mother was well taken care of. I cannot say the same for every other resident. I certainly hope Madonna Manor wakes up and becomes the facility we need. With the prime real estate location and gorgeous grounds, I certainly hope they understand they are ruining their reputation as caregivers and pay their staff fairly.
Every time I visit Madonna Manor, whether it is to visit a friend or attend an event at the Adelaide, I am always impressed with the warm and welcoming staff. They genuinely care for their residents…and it shows!
I’ve worked at Madonna manor for over a year now and It’s a hard working team that really try’s to put smiles on everyone’s Face. The residents are an amazing crowd as well
Very nice place to work. I have been here almost 12 years. My brother was here for rehabilitation and he bragged about how nice the aides and nurses were. He likes Madonna Manor better than most places he has been too.
My Mom is really doing fantastic with changes in Doctors, therapy and just an entire new way of approaching life. She's living in the new independent apartments at Madonna Manor and she's come so far I'm really happy for her. She's literally 15 years younger. I referred someone to your company and will continue to do so when the need arises. Right now we're in good shape. It would be a five(5) in all my dealings with your company. Kind, caring and knowledgeable are combinations that are hard to come by these days.
My Mother-in-Law was recently a patient in rehab. The staff provided amazing care and encouraged her to work towards her goals. My mother-in-law had a lot of complicated illnesses that eventually took her life, but staff were communicative, compassionate, and collaborated with outside providers along with internal providers to give her the best chance she could have. And even after her passing, the staff have been so supportive to my family and I as we grieve the loss of a very important person in our lives.
We give Madonna Manor and staff 5 Stars, and our appreciation and gratitude for their care of our family member. Our family member went into Madonna Manor in November expecting a short-term respite care stay during his treatment for a head and neck cancer. One of the first hurdles we faced finding his care was the fact that he had a recently placed trach, (for those unaware, in the state of Kentucky most care facilities are not willing to take patients with a newly placed trach) after countless calls to facilities in Kentucky and visits to some that would accept us in Ohio, we struck gold with Madonna Manor. From the very start Admissions and the Director of Nursing understood completely the challenges that we were facing and assured us that the staff at Madonna Manor was perfectly willing and capable of meeting our needs. We were happy to have a solution closer to home and the move from Drake Center took place just before Thanksgiving. Several weeks after his admission the treatment started a series of significant "bumps in the road” began. With each new bump the nursing staff on Household A rose to the occasion. They dealt with what seemed like an ever-changing list of health concerns and the need for an escalation in the level of care that was required without missing a beat! Throughout the stay when he was able, and therapies were prescribed, the PT and speech staff also exceeded expectations in their level of care and patience with our family member. Their concern in his recovery and their encouragement in the progress that he made also played a key role in his success. In addition to the exceptional level therapy and nursing care, the administrative team was always willing to assist our efforts to understand the Medicare claims and the routine “appeals” processes. There was a genuine desire to see that our family member received all of the benefits that he was entitled to. Their assistance resulted in getting benefits that would have otherwise been denied on numerous occasions. Finally, as if all of this was not enough, Madonna Manors supporting staff members were also incredible. The aides were always polite and helped in assisting with basic needs. The housekeeping staff deserves a huge pat on the back, they do and amazing job and are always upbeat and friendly. Madonna Manor is without a doubt the cleanest facility that we looked at, and also happens to be the cleanest care facility that I’ve personally ever visited. Last but certainly not least, the kitchen staff should also be recognized. While our family member was unable to enjoy the food for the majority of his stay I can tell you that we witnessed other residents enjoy great looking meals served by a dedicated staff every day. Seven months later, after all of the hurdles and treatments our family member has walked out the doors of Madonna Manor to return home. We can say with all confidence that had it not been for the care he received at Madonna Manor, his recovery would not have been as successful. 5 Stars for sure! Thank you all, Family of RS
my mother in law just began her temporary stay here, for some physical therapy rehabilitation. Its a very nice place it's a clean an fairly decent facility. /// An after a month VERY long an boring stay at the hospital she's definitely ready to begin her therapy, to get back up and moving about then to be able to get back home, She's already planning to be out and about the place with her being at the hospital that long an not being able to leave her room at all or even to go back an forth threw out inside her room. With her now being at Madonna Manor She will have the option to go about an around the place whenever she's wanting to. The staff seem very polite and helpful an ALWAYS willing to go out their way to help an or offer her as well as her visitor's any information or help in anyway they can. It's looking very hopeful and promising that she should be up moving around on her own, hopefully VERY soon... For I know she's very ready to be back home around the family an in her own space and home once again....
My Mom was here for rehab. We loved the care she received! Staff was great!
My grandmother who was bed bound was at Madonna Manor. I’m not sure about the other departments where she was is absolutely horrible. It was so bad I had to purchase an Alexa so I could see my grandmother when we weren’t there with her. We didn’t have many options so unfortunately she had to stay there. Our family was able to take shifts and go check on her 3-4 times a day thank god to make sure she had water, was in a fresh diaper and had her medication. When the few staff that actually cares tells you to report them, you know it’s bad. The call lights don’t work, when you complain they say it’sbc they are so under staffed (yet staff sits around on their cell phones face timing and playing games on their phones) I asked the lady w time my grandmother was bathed and at this point it was 3 weeks she didn’t even have a sponge bath, she didn’t have water for hours on different occasions, Covid is horrible there. I understand it’s bad at many nursing facilities but when visitors are told it’s mandatory to wear a mask and you go in and half the staff isn’t wearing one you wonder why it’s so bad there bc they are bringing it in to these elderly people bc they are not using precautions. My grandmother didn’t receive any medicine when she had Covid cough, Tylenol, etc bc she didn’t ask for it. She was 95 and had Covid brain. Just a horrible place.
Nursing and administration staff showed love and kindness to my longtime friend who love at Madonna Manor for years. He loved living here and he always treated with respect and dignity.
My father is staying at Madonna Manor while recovering from surgery. My family attended mass on Sunday and enjoyed a wonderful lunch in the dining room afterwards. The staff was cheerful, kind, thoughtful, and accommodating. It’s rare that we’re able to all be together with my father. We’re grateful the staff at Madonna Manor made that possible for us.
As I have cared for both my mother and father as well as helped with my uncle at one time, I have seen and experienced several different nursing home, rehab, and assisted living facilities. I would never go anywhere else than here again should I ever need such services and assistance in the future! The facility is just beautiful, you do not feel as though you’re in a hospital type environment. Everyone is very friendly and kind, However 3rd shift here needs work, and better nurses and aids. If you call for someone in the evening anytime after 8 be prepared to wait at least 30 minutes. The rehab unit is where I was, so I can’t speak to any other part of the facility, the physical therapist and occupational therapist are amazing so kind so helpful they go above and beyond! The food is average, but they are slow about getting food out to you and is often served cold, but not always. In general, this place is the best of the best I would recommend a Madonna Manor highly to anyone that needed to be in a nursing home or here for memory care we have or assisted living.. they do amazing things here for everyone that lives in here, but Hass to stay in here. Many activities are offered for those who can participate. I just wanna say thank you to all the nurses and aids in the administration and doctors that were here also very kind. Still a patient, hoping to go home soon, Debbie Shaw
They were very nice and physical therapy was great
They were professional, kind and honest. Every facility now is understaffed, but I feel as if Madonna Manor really tries to keep the patient first and do what's best for the family as well. My mom stayed there for three weeks after hip surgery and she was well taken care of. The OT/PT staff is amazing and very good at communicating with the family. I truly felt my Mom was valued.
If your loved one is Alzheimer and unable to communicate , please don’t go here . The care is horrible . The price is $XX,XXX [amount removed] a month . They will not get proper care . They work short handed and do not give prescribed meds as prescribed on schedule, or ignore meds all together . This happened to my mom . And verified .
I don't know if I came in on a bad night or what... but wow... what a nightmare. The VERY first thing I walked into was staff fighting with each other, and then the nurses being severely understaffed and then upset family members calling state... just awful.
My Mom has really really progressed in MM . She went to Rehab and got out successfully. She had a UTI and as an elderly woman it was rough on her and all of us. They dealt with that and she greatly improved mentally. She thought my Dad was not dead and had joined the circus. Her mental, motor and psychological improved to the point to where she is now in Assisted Living with some minor help. They are patient with my mom and I truly thought she would not be here today last year. Her Parkinson's medicine has been cut in half so it has been invaluable to her and us. Sometimes they have staffing issues but they know us and we trust them with her. I truly was a blind man stumbling in the dark. The UTI forced her into memory loss and that was the toughest time. They pulled her in from lack of lucidity.
A long standing reputation in the community for delivery excellent care. I toured the current assisted living building while the additional two buildings were being constructed. The views are remarkable, with some overlooking the Ohio River. The campus is exquisite and the detail and cleanliness throughout all buildings and grounds is evident of the pride that is taken at Madonna Manor. Observing and engaging with staff in the healthcare unit it is obvious that the campus selects employees who are passionate about caring for others.
Wow this has got to be one of the worst facilities in Northern Kentucky. If you need assistance plan on at least an hour wait from the staff. The most laziest staff I think I have ever laid eyes on! Please do your research before admitting your loved one in this horrific place!!!!
My relative hasn't been at Villa Madonna even a week yet and the staff has their call-buttons turned off and my relative can't get help. My relative is in Home Area C and the desk number there has a full voicemail box so our early assessment of Villa Modonna Manor is disappointing at best. They don't seem to care that the residents need their help. Isn't that why they're there - to HELP the residents?!
My grandma (Through marriage) has been there roughly a year. We was all very concerned for her in the beginning. We was worried she would give up since she no longer could live in her beloved home. She is 95 years old and is still energetic as ever !! Long story short, she absolutely loves this place!!! She talks so highly of all the staff. Every time I go there to visit her they all are very respectful. It’s very clean. They offer several different activities for their residents. As well as mass for those who religion is catholic. As well as other services… I have to say I’m super happy with Madonna Manor. If my grandma is happy then we all are happy!! She is a little hard to please but she hasn’t had one complaint to us yet!! This is a go to place for ur loved ones. A little costly. but in my opinion, money is well spent if your loved one is happy :)
First I’ll start by saying watch your aides. They always seem to be in your personal business and drama. Loni and Jessica are the main two. Them two have caused so must added stress to already helping taking care of my grandma in there. They would call/text along with via Facebook messenger all hours of the night. I found it very unacceptable. One wanted me to help plan her wedding plus try to get me to play games. I wouldn’t recommend this place.
All nursing homes have issues with staffing. I praise the people whom perform this work and care for our family members. It takes a special person to have the patience and understanding to work with senior citizens whom can no longer care for themselves. My mother has been at 3 nursing homes the past few years and I find Madonna Manor to be the best of the 3. The nurses and aids are polite and seam to genuinely care about their patients.
Dad was in assisted living for 3 years. Recurring emergency response issues at night. Dining room and food issues seem to improving with new chef. Staffing always seemed off. Especially bad on night shift in long term care. Family had to spend the night or pay home health aide to feel comfortable about overnight safety. Definitely not worth the money.
My father was a resident of Assisted Living for 3 years. He likes the chance to go to Mass frequently and made friends quickly. Most of staff was friendly and responsible Had recurring problems with emergency response during the night. Also had to complain numerous times about food quality and slow service. New chef seems to have been improving on this. Recently moved dad to long term care due to increased healthcare needs. Has trouble breathing and is awake off and on most nights. Only one aide available for 19 residents in wing including a number of residents who require extra attention. We have had to spend the night or privately pay for home health aide to come at night to guarantee dad's safety. Most of staff is caring but overworked, especially overnight.
My mother [Name removed] stayed a Madonna Manor for approximately 10 months. During this time the “Manor” always seemed to be short staffed for nurses and relied heavily on aides which don’t get me wrong , in facilities like these and especially in the memory care units this is very difficult work and it’s usually in my opinion underpaid. Also during this time she needed to have her legs wrapped every morning due to her legs swelling from CHF and more often than not they were never wrapped. Again a direct result of under staffing. Also at issue was the food, it was terrible, when we first got there it was pretty good but then they change chefs and I wouldn’t feed this food to my dog. Cold, poor quality under seasoned and not appealing even to look at. The aides that fed the memory care patients at times even refused to even serve it. We complained numerous times but nothing was ever done. I really find it difficult to write this because the facility it’s self is very nice, and has great potential but whoever is running the facility needs to step aside and put someone in place that will try and fix these issues.
My mom was in this facility. She is no more. Nurses are always short handed and took them over an hour to change my mom. When she did get her medicine it was hours late. She ended up in hospital with a bed sore. Had to have two surgeries on it. My mom had ovarian cancer but her death certificate says cause of death bed sore .
My aunt went there for rehab. The actual rehab therapists were great but most of the staff on the unit were rediculously slow to respond when nurse button was called , food was always cold, nurses were rude and spent way too much time at nurses station. She would end up wetting het pants and it would take 45 minutes for them to clean her. When Benedictines and Franciscans owned it, it was a wonderful place. When CHI took over it’s gone downhill. DONT SEND YOUR LOVED ONES HERE!!
During the past two years, Madonna Manor has declined to the point of awful. Continual staff turnover. Filthy hallway carpet. Sometimes odors all the way to the lobby. Staff doesn’t show up, leaving residents unsafe, without their meds, and without other needed care. The aides who do show up for work are very nice, however.—the one saving grace. Management turnover is frequent and those who remain are ineffectual and simply give lip service to complaints. Owner CHI better make big improvements to the facility and care level., as both residents and their families are very upset.
When my loved one first moved into Madonna Manor a few years ago, the assisted living wing was attractive and clean. Now the facility is in desperate need of good leadership and many repairs and improvements. Caregivers and other staff are quitting and/or not showing up for shifts. Residents are left at risk and sometimes not receiving meals and medications. Further, the place is not being maintained. Maintenance workers have quit. Weekly cleaning of apartment is done very poorly. And the carpet throughout the facility is FILTHY and smelly. I truly regret having to write a review like this, but, until problems are addressed and corrected (please no more excuses and lip service), I would urge family members to please think twice before placing a loved one at Madonna Manor. [Name removed] (the owner) needs to make many improvements immediately, as Madonna Manor's reputation in the community is sinking fast.
In the 2-plus years my relative has been at Madonna Manor, the services have steadily declined, despite the escalating cost of residency here. Staffing problems are continual. Many of the aides are very, very caring and helpful, but the facility is under-staffed and there’s little backup when aides call in sick or don’t show up. This means call buttons are not answered for long periods, meds are not always distributed, and emergencies are not addressed quickly. Food is only fair, but this is a constant complaint at assisted living/nursing care facilities. Madonna Manor’s management MUST correct these problems. Seniors deserve much better.
Many of the aides are very caring. But my relative in the assisted living wing has experienced the following too often: 1. Failure of staff to show up, leaving the "assisted" living wing without any assistance whatsoever. 2. Very inconsistent quality in food, some of it quite poor. 3. Failure of aides on duty to respond to call buttons--frequently for more than a half hour--presumably due to under-staffing. 4. Failure of the aide on duty to get out the resident's medicine packets for her to take, resulting in medicines not being taken as prescribed. This has occurred multiple times. Since each packet is dated, with morning and evening indicated, it's easy for family members to ascertain, unfortunately after the fact, when medications have not been provided to the resident to take. Madonna Manor looks nice, the rooms are acceptable, and the activities directors do a good job. BUT anyone considering moving here should take the issues listed above in this review very seriously. Many families are quite concerned and upset, including the family of a 90-year-old who was found on the floor during one of the periods when aides called in "sick."
Nice facility. A little more out of the way for us.
My mother has been a resident of Madonna manor assisted living for five years. As with all nursing facilities she has good care givers and not good. We are basically mostly pleased with services. However we have had to hire our own caregiver twice a week to help with bathing. Madonna manor has not been able to provide bathing to our assisted living mother. We just wanted encouragement to shower twice weekly and to call if mom refuses to shower. We continued to find mom in dirty gowns and no calls stating she refuses to shower. She has gone weeks without bathing, yet we are charged for services she does not receive. I am not able to provide services due to my own health issues. Now I know she will be bathed since we have our own care giver coming twice weekly. I do not mean to say anything bad about Madonna manor, but we are very disappointed in care given to our mother. I would move her but she knows people there and does not want to go any where else.
Went there for rehab after knee surgery. Worst place I ever experienced. I would not recommend this awful facility for ANYONE ! Definitely not for a loved one! If I could, I would rate it 0.
My loved one lives in Madonna Manor, and overall, I feel like they stake good care of him, but sometimes the help seems off to me, like they don't always know where his things are, they don't always know how to get him up. The admissions lady that helped me has been very easy to work with though. I think she does a good job and she's very helpful. The place is also clean, and close by. Overall, I would say that it is an alright place.
We are very happy with the services my father is receiving at Madonna Manor. The staff has been very friendly and caring, the place is clean and tidy, and my dad seems to like the food. I’m not usually there during activity times, but I do know that they have many activities to keep the residents busy. We were also looking for a facility with a spiritual community; that was big for us. Madonna caters to this need, so we are very happy with it.
My family decided on Madonna Manor. It was just fine and I was satisfied with the facility. My mother was on the facility before and we had that as the indicator on what would we like her there and it turned out very nice. She would be in an apartment when she went there but she was on the waiting list right now. The staff that I talked to was the administration and they were just fine.
Madonna Manor is good. The rooms and apartments are fair. They have no help to keep them clean and take care of them, and they go through help constantly. They just fired a couple of more this week. It’s a nice facility, and if you could get help in that they could keep, that would be a lot better, and we are giving them a second chance now. Their dining room facility is pretty bad. The food is not suitable for an elderly person. They have stuff like fried chicken nuggets. The setup is very nice as well as the grounds. I would suggest more staffing to take care of the residents as there are 12 residents and only 1 person working.
Madonna Manor was nice, but it was out of our price range. The rooms were nice as well as the dining area, but smaller. The staff was helpful and informative.
