Reviews
for Symphony at Valley Farms
Assistance with filing long term care insurance was very poor. Staff was mainly friendly. Therapy department was good. Meals served should match the gourmet names that they were labeled on the menu. Very few meals were good. But to be fair, it's probably pretty hard to find kitchen help with much skill. Also, the Assisted Living part of the facility is very limited in the assistance they provide. A person should be pretty independent aside from needing reminders and help bathing.
They could improve on staffing. Communication with the families. Put the dining hall in the middle of the room instead of all the way at the end of the room. Not leave residents soaking wet in their own urine and lying in the floor for hours until the have rhabdo. My favorite thing about the community was when my dad left in an ambulance and never went back.
I was greeted and treated warmly upon entrance. Ms. Alysia, Ms. Kandace, Ms. Jamie, Ms. Angela, and Ms. Tai were all so nice, smiling, and professional when I visited. The atmosphere is warm, inviting, and beautiful decorated. The curb appeal is so appealing and I love it! The residents all seemed so happy. Made me smile.
The friendly staff and my mom feeling like she's at home. Yes, I would recommend this community to other families based on the experience so far.
They are good to the residents. The food is good as well. The rooms are very good size. Have room for a bed, chair, small sofa, lamps etc.
The team at Symphony really cares about their residents. We have been so happy with the level care from the nursing team, the Director, the physical therapist and support systems. They have worked with our family to ensure that our family members receives the proper care then need to keep them healthy and safe while providing additional activities for socialization and a top notch physical therapy team. We would highly recommend Symphony at Valley Farms.
I have a relative of a friend that absolutely loves this place!
This place has been great for my grandpa! I can’t say enough about the staff that has helped him fit right in and the support we have got. He is genuinely happy there and it fills my heart to know we found a great place for him. Highly recommend!
My experience with this facility has been very positive. The staff are great, kind people. It was the perfect fit for my family member because she is energetic and has limited yet unique care needs. She’s very independent minded, and so Symphony gave us a great balance of respecting her health progress at her pace while also giving us a much safer alternative to her living at home alone. I’m very happy with this transition and grateful to the team.
If I could give negative stars I would! This place isn't fit for a dog. $6000/month for a studio apartment, the care was non-existent. My grandpa fell, not once but twice, and the second time he was left laying there for who knows how long. Even the EMTs that arrived to take him to the hospital were expressing their frustration with how long he had been left to lay there, saturated in urine. This was 1/16. Today is 1/18 and he's now actively dying. Blood from where he had cut his hand was in the floor for three days. For an entire week, they did not bathe him, clean his room, do his laundry, nothing. Do NOT take your family members here unless you can afford to pay for care and also do the care yourself.
Very, very poorly run. To not trust this company
The only thing she's not liking, is the food they serve. It looked like a smaller version of her patio home. Everyone there was really nice and residents were friendly. Staff was also friendly and helpful.
Overall I've been pretty happy. I'm sure anyone can find issues wherever they go especially when your looking at how there car for your mom. No one can be perfect. You should keep tabs on what is happening and visit or get to know the staff. The room sizes are great. Besides clothes I have not had to bring anything else in for her. Only special treats we take for her.
Had add on's and was fine during the day but not for dementia residents. Hardly any staff after 6 when sundowners occur. Lots of falls, out of milk regularly, not chef prepared meals appears frozen food. Activity director quit and not replaced. No social worker, no Medicare or Medicaid beds to transition to. If a person is alert and has no dementia and only needs minimal assistance, it would be fine. I did have items come up missing. No assist bathing at times.
Overall fine but the food is less than to be desired. Looks very very unappealing. I feel bad for those that have to eat it.
My loved one was admitted last fall and was walking with dementia. We paid extra for frequent checks, bathing, medication dispensed, hairdressers etc. While there I witnessed many admissions with a very high acuity of care needed. These needs were not met. The facility is understaffed in the evening and nights when the residents with cognitive difficulties are worse with sundowners. The staff in evenings are not trained for high acuity level of care. 1 person for entire building at night. They communicated that falls were normal. I witnessed an outbreak of COVID that spread like wildfire as staff not following protocol. Multiple falls and residents transferred out by ambulance to hospitals. Now my loved has been hurt related to a fall. My family would not listen to move them as they visited during the day and saw "nothing wrong". The facility is fine for those who can ambulate and do not have cognitive deficits. However, they will take your money for extra services they do
This place is amazing! They are the most caring group of people, ALL of them. Everyone cares about each resident. Mom was 93 when she arrived at Valley Farms. She was there 18 months. Part of that time she lived in the memory care unit. The patience and understanding the staff showed was consistently good. Mom didn't just sit in her room. She was surrounded by other residences in the same condition. The health care was exceptional. Nurses always listened and responded to my concerns. I was always called if there were any concerns. The physical therapist were another wonderful group of professionals in the building. Such dedication to their patients. And during holidays, the schedule goes on. It's not like a ghost town. Regular staff members work on holidays too. They have holidays, birthdays, any other special celebrations all the time. A huge movie theater and beauty shop on site. I really don't know if a better place my mom could have been.
I would not take a stray dog there. Upper management involve themselves in family matters. I had a better experience in Medicaid skilled care than that place for my mother. The family and staff who wrote those positive reviews are in management positions. The family writing about their mother being taken well care of, activities etc are not telling the truth. They were only wanting to change their mother's will who had left those family members out of the will. Valley Farms management helped them in this. Worst private pay facility for elderly especially dementia I have ever seen. The family who is out of town rarely sees their mother. There was no activity director for months, no social worker on site. LPNs with poor management skills are running this place. Terrible what they did to this family!
As I stated before this place is corrupt. They follow the purse strings. My mom has had 2 hospital admissions and walked in the facility and is now wheelchair bound. She looked unkept and unbathed last time I saw her. The staff who speak positives about the place are in positions of power and they use that to squeeze the train full eyes of families who have medical backgrounds out. My family who wrote positive reviews only did that due to the facility allowing their staff to testify on their behalf during a guardianship hearing. This place is NOT a good place for anyone with dementia. They are in it for the money and do not have any medicare/medicaid beds.
My mother has been a resident at Valley Farms Assistant Living facility since October of 2023, and I have been tremendously pleased with the care provided to her by the nurses, physical therapists, and all employees. While I live out of town, I generally visit with my mother on the weekends, and it's always a welcoming environment. Various forms of entertainment are always available - groups coming in to sing, preachers, movies, bingo, ping pong, or just sitting outside enjoying the fresh air. The facility is very, very clean, and the residents are friendly, and a joy to get to know. My hats off to Valley Farms! Thank you for being there while loving and caring for my mother. Linda
My mother has been at Valley Farms since October 2023. She had a short hospital stay at which we thought that we were losing her. After discharge she went to a rehab facility and the family made the hard decision that she was not able to safely stay in her home. We did not want to put her into a nursing home so we looked at a few facilities and also talked to friends that had recently been through a similar situation. We decided on Valley Farms and hoped for the best. By December she was back to her old self with the care that they provided. A special shout out to Select Rehab which is onsite daily. Samantha,Tracy, Pam, Shannon,Amy and the rest are the best. Alisa,Kandace and the rest of the nursing staff are there daily to address any concerns that we have. All of the caregivers become part of our family as we’re there daily to visit with Mom and her new friends. Couldn’t be happier. This is not a nursing home it is assisted living andI hope that Mom can stay here for a long time. Also it’s fun getting to know the other residents and hear their stories This is a partnership with us helping them provide the best for Mom as long as we can. If you think this is something that would work for you then come and see Jaime and ask for a tour. Larry
I have been at symphony for about 3 years now. I love my residents so much! They have became like family as well as the staff. They have worked with my schedule so much since I am in school. I just wanted to say how much I love my residents and facility.
Do NOT place your mother in this complete private pay facility. There is a high turnover with staff. Understaffed at night. Admitting high acuity residents without proper training to Care for them. Offer add on services but not enough staff to cover what is needed for proper level of care. This is the perfect example of a wolf in sheep's clothing. The activity director quit. No social worker on site. Business is run by an inexperienced team. If you Care about your loved one do not go here if they have any type of cognitive deficits.
At first glance it was beautiful. Then after awhile you get a full understanding it's all about the money. They get involved in family disagreements which creates a larger scale of problems. There is routinely only 1 to 2 persons on night shift if you can find them. They accept high acuity residents without having adequate staff trained to care for them. There are literally Prairie size dustballs under the furniture even after deep cleaning. There's a high level of turnover with staff. There sometimes is not milk for 2 weeks at a time. There isn't enough staff to provide the extra add on assist the resident pays for. The management isn't receptive to any of your complaints and in turn threatens to have you band from a facility that is private pay. Do not fall for the sales pitch if you love your family. This facility is not appropriate for assisted living or memory Care. The director is terrible, the activity director quit, in house select rehab is short staffed. Terrible
I would highly recommend it.
Competent staff who addresses any concerns I have. Nice place.
My loved one was previously a resident at Symphony of Valley Farms and the experience was not good. Extremely poor housekeeping, poor nursing, staff do not return calls and can never take your calls. Unable to provide protein for vegetarian diet. Constant turn over of staff. They recently lost the director of memory care and recently lost their executive director. Management is extremely poor. Several upset staff and resident families. Lots of falls and no one to answer the phone or let you in after 5 pm. Filling their rooms with high acuity patients. The place was good when we first got there, but went down hill with two different managers. No accountability or quality assurance.
This is a great place. It is like my mom is living in a 5 star hotel. Highly recommend this place. The meals are very good and varied. They made the transition very easy . My mom feels at home here.
Facility common areas nice private room not cleaned that often Everyone is friendly to your face Poor not enough staff to care for patients Some staff care other are there just for a paycheck and to eat the food Food is like slop cold and hard to eat The Activity director is a joke Expensive place just to sleep and eat slop Management needs lots of improvement
Our dad was a resident at Symphony at Valley Farms for a little over 3 years. While there he transitioned from Assisted Living to Memory Care. During that time I was able to witness the loving care that all the staff had provided my dad. Researching places for your love one is not easy as information is limited. However, we have had experiences with other facilities. For those searching, I can say you will not find a better place than Symphony at Valley Farms, with a staff who truly cares about the wellbeing of their residents as well as the residents' family. I would like to sincerely thank each and every employee whom my dad and I got to know for taking such great of him and for your dedication and hard work during his stay. As a medical professional myself, I would highly recommend Valley Farms to anyone seeking Assisted Living or Memory Care for a loved one. Karen C.
Beautiful place and the staff is very friendly and helpful.
Ok
First, there are amazing staff members that work extremely hard to care for the residents. That being said, I have had ongoing difficulty contacting any staff after 5pm. When I brought this to the current director’s attention, I was told that they were aware of the situation, and that they would be fixing the problem. When I left messages on the “executive director’s” voice mail, I never received a response. Then I found out that it wasn’t even her extension. I was also told that the staff were usually too busy to answer the phones in the evenings. I. know that some of the staff have portable phones, but apparently they do not work properly. There have been times when I really needed to speak to my family member’s caregivers, but have never had the phone answered. Apparently, this situation is very low on the priority list with management. Very disappointing. I would love the opportunity to speak to anyone that can address this ongoing situation. (Almost a year now)
5 on all categories that are listed and I would Recommend that facility to anyone. The employees and how happy [name removed] is out there. The communication has been great, I never felt like I was in the dark about anything
5 star! I absolutely love A Symphony at Valley Farms. It is the best facility I have ever seen. I am an RN and it's a great place for my 87 year old mother. Therapy of any kind on-site and billed outpatient. Individualized quality of care by staff. Movie theater, life alert pendant, staff caring, clean and no odors, decorated like home, meals are great, can buy snacks for large private rooms
Nice facility
I want to start off by saying I love the staff who take care of my loved one. The problem is the executive director! She is never there and when I ask to see her I am told she isn’t here today. I have emailed her and she has not responded and I have left voicemails and she never calls back. When I do see her she is very rude to her staff and it seems that none of the caregivers know her when I ask them. This concerns me because I am trusting them with my loved one! We were supposed to have a meet and greet with her but it never happened. As I’m speaking to other families, they have the same concerns!
The first thing you notice is the cleanliness of the well appointed facility. During the year my brother has been at Symphony Valley Farms, he had been well cared for, well fed (he likes the meals served) and allowed to be engaged in a myriad of activities offered by their wonderful activities director.
Very nice facility
My daughter always did her ballet Christmas recital there from what I expected for three yrs being there a total of three times the facility was VERY clean, cozy an welcoming the kids seemed to being smiles an happiness to the clients they seem to really enjoy the little ones performing for them it was heart warning to be honest.
If i could give negative stars, thats where I would rate Symphony at Valley Farms! We moved my mother in law in 48hrs ago and she has already fallen twice! Her falls happened at night ..we were not told that they only have 1 night nurse & 2 aids.. the night nurse told us she rounds every hour and the aids round every 2 hours! My MIL's room is right next to the nurses station. How can a memory care facility function safely with 1 nurse at night? This is beyond ridiculous! My husband and myself are beyond mad ..we have reached out to the director who has yet to return our call!! Do not believe the hyped info that the staff gives you. It was extremely expensive to get her moved here and the amount of money we are paying for horrible care at night is just that ..HORRIBLE!!!
The laundry is not good - many things are lost. Management is not taking responsibility and needs to step up. Most food looks nasty, they need to fix things that the residents will eat. Overall I would still recommend Symphony of Valley Farms.
We really enjoyed the tour of Symphony of Valley Farms. In fact this was our first choice; however, it was more than we wanted to spend each month. This is a community I would recommend you tour to see if it would be a good fit for your loved one.
Symphony of Valley Farms gave us a good tour, it just was not the place for my loved one. The facility felt more like a nursing home. It was also more expensive as well.
My mother stays here and it is very nice. Beautifully decorated.
Our experience with Symphony of Valley Farms has been excellent. The staff are caring towards the residents. They keep the family updated on our loved one and any changes that happen. The meals are good, there are three meals a day, and the residents have choices. Overall, I would recommend the community to others for their loved ones.
Visited my sister in law and the place is clean and smells good. Great place.
Symphony at Valley Farms seemed like a very, very clean, very well-kept, and very well-run facility. It appeared to be overall nice with a good calendar of activities. The memory care rooms were spacious. The condition was very acceptable. Brandy was personable, very professional, and very helpfull in assessing the needs that my mother-in-law has.
Symphony at Valley farms has been a blessing for us. My mom is in memory care. They are able to get her to shower and keep her safe and well fed. They have weekly entertainment, she loves the music. The people that work there have become like my family. They truly love mom (even when she’s difficult). I am so the thankful for all of them! Thank you Symphony you are truly the best in my book. 😀
If I could give 10 stars I would. The people that work at Symphony at Valley Farms have become our extended family. The care Dad receives is exceptional, thorough and loving. Recently my Aunt needed a place to live that has Personal Care. It was relief to find out Symphony had a room. Three meals a day ( Dad loves the breakfast), 24 hour nursing, in house PT & OT, activities and beautiful surroundings make Symphony a great HOME.
