My mother lives at the Victorian and she seems perfectly content there. I just wish we were closer in mileage, as it is a 4 hour round trip (driving time only) for me. But...it is a wonderful place!
Beautiful place, great staff!
My loved one was previously a resident at The Victorian at Riverside and the experience was great! We liked this facility very much. I would recommend The Victorian at Riverside to others.
Our family had an in person tour with The Victorian at Riverside and we thought the tour experience was really nice as well as the community but it was geared more towards independent living so it would not of worked for our loved one.
Acquaintance · December 2022 I am beyond happy with the care that my mom is receiving. Everyone that works there is kind and compassionate..the type of people we want caring for our mother. The facility is beautifully remodeled and clean, and there are daily activities for the residents. I am there frequently to visit my mom, and the residents are always out of their rooms, visiting each other, and genuinely seem happy. I cannot recommend Victorian at Riverside enough!
Unspecified · December 2022 My family is beyond happy with the care that our mom is receiving. We needed to make a somewhat quick decision over the Summer, to get mom into a secured care facility, and we found Victorian at Riverside. The employees are amazing! They have daily activities for the residents and all of the ladies seem happy and well-taken care of. I visit frequently and volunteer when I can, and I am always happy to see the residents out of their rooms, smiling and socializing with each other...exactly what we wanted for our mom. This place is a hidden gem and if you are looking for a trustworthy care facility for someone, you should consider Victorian at Riverside.
Unspecified · August 2022 This place needs to be shut down !
I have been volunteering with the VAR for several years now. It's always been an amazing home-like residence for our dear ladies, but I am so impressed with the new wing that will be opening later this spring. I definitely would put the VAR high on my list of personal-care options for my family members.
I could not be happier with The Victorian in the care and love they provide my mother. She has been through so much in her life and knowing that she finally has stability and comfort means the world to my family. A big thank you to Carrie and her staff. Much love and gratitude to all of you.
Unspecified · February 2021 The Victorian at Riverside is a great community partner and a valued member of the Covington Business Council.
Unspecified · February 2021 My mother was there and enjoyed the many activities provided allowing
her to make friends and interact with the other residents (this was pre-Covid). She was given medicines along with loving care. Nutritious meals were prepared onsite and personally served to the residents in a very
natural setting.
Unspecified · January 2021 The staff have taken good care of my mom and we are thankful for that. We know she is safe and in a clean facility where she is well fed and is happy.
Thanks for everything you all do every day. We know your jobs are not easy but the services you provide are more appreciated than you realize!
My grandmother was a resident here for quite some time before she passed. She enjoyed the company of the other ladies after my grandfather died. She was definitely not the easiest person to satisfy but she loved the staff and ability to have her own privacy and interact with others when she wanted. I can not recommend this place enough.
Unspecified · August 2018 I can not say enough good things about the Covington Ladies Home.
What a Blessing in our community. The care given to my Dear Friend was excellent, helpful in so many ways. The Director, Carrie Van Derzee is caring and compassionate as are the staff members. When I'm visiting the home, the residents are friendly to one another, share stories, have a lovely place to meet their visitors, have tea or just converse. Thank you!
Unspecified · August 2018 As a volunteer with a senior friend who resides at The Covington Ladies Home, I can say from personal experience that this is one of the most caring, person-centered residences I've encountered. That's based on my weekly experience there and my friend's daily experience for over 5 years. My observation is that each staff member is valued because they value the women they serve. The longevity of many staff members who have made their careers at The Covington Ladies Home is a testament to the positive environment they create for the residents.
Acquaintance · March 2018 My grandmother is in this home. It has saved her life! The people that live there and that work at the facility are amazing. Yes, they have to go to the dining room for meals, but I think that is a good way for them to get some exercise, and a great way to help the staff to know all is good with them. They have events a couple times a week for them to do socially, as well as periodic outings. I can't say enough good things about this home!
The Ladies Home has served senior women for more than 130 years. I have volunteered for ten years, and love the time I spend at the Home. CLH is a home, not an institution. You need to come and see!
Very impressed with the people we talked to on the phone and during tour. Looks like a very loving environment.
This facility is a little too restrictive for my mom. The bedrooms do not have private bathrooms and they must go to the dining room for meals three times each day unless an illness such as the flu would prohibit their going to dining rom. This definitely will not work for us.
We love The Covington Ladies Home!
It has been the perfect fit for my aunt, who is 83 years old. She had been living alone for the last 15 years, in her home of 40+ years. She really did not want to leave her home and leave her 2 cats.
While living at home, she was not cooking much and eating healthy meals. She said the food at the ladies home is delicious! You always get your vegetables and they always have desert.
She has been a resident at the ladies home for 6 weeks now. She enjoys the many activities they offer; Bingo, exercise groups, walks, occasional shopping trips, cards etc. She said they keep you busy, but not too busy. She still enjoys her alone time in her room reading and watching TV and doing her crossword puzzles. On a few occasions, they have had people come in to the home and play music, perform etc.
She said everyone is very nice and she has made many friends. I can tell when I visit her there, the staff loves these women and they want to be there!
In the six weeks that she has been there, she has only mentioned missing her cats 2 times. Having people around and activities to do was just what she needed.
She tells me she can never thank me enough!
I can't imagine a better place for her to be.
I told the administration to put my name on the list and I will be back in 30 years myself!

Unspecified · February 2013 Covington Ladies Home is small and personalized. It's been a lady's home for 125 years. It's a big old mansion, but it's very well kept and updated. It's beautiful and they keep it very clean. The staff is very caring and that's the most important thing. My mom has been there for almost five weeks now. She loves the food. The staff everyone I've dealt with is very friendly and on top of things. They call me for every little thing.
The only drawback for a 125-year old building is there are no individual toilets in each room. There are sinks, vanity mirror, but you have to go two doors down for a toilet and shower. I thought that doesn't really bother her or me much. But it would be great if they could get modernized and put in bathrooms in each room.
