Reviews
for Valhalla Post Acute
Very knowledgeable and professional. Was able to answer all my questions and guide me throughout the admission process. Wonderful experience! Thanks so much!
April in the admission department was outstanding. We had a bad experience at another facility and she helped us get the transfer to Vahalla completed. She k ew the answers to all my questions and was just a blessing during such a tough time.
This is a really good facility. The staff work hard to help people feel comfortable and invited. Sending a loved one here will be a step forward into a happy future!
Valhalla is a really nice facility. The management team is great and I feel like my grandma is getting really good care. The administrator and nurse leader are really involved. Food is good.
such a great facility with great staff!!
Horrible place! Staff are very rude. They seriously need to drug test. Overheard several staff discussing selling marijuana. State should be involved. This was just a one time visit to see a loved one.
Very unprofessional customer service! There needs to seriously be a staff meeting on customer service at this place! Me and my mother came here to visit a family member and when we came in the door we was unsure of where to sign in at because it was our first time visiting here and when we came in Saturday afternoon at 2:10pm the young African American girl at the reception desk very rudely and nasty told us to sign in she needs to be trained on how to talk to customers! Valhalla Post Acute healthcare center that soiled linen closet on the second floor is very disgusting and trifling and the smell is HORRIBLE !!!!! That whole hallway on both sides of the second floor is so foul smelling with urine it's ridiculous! I'm reporting this place to State ASAP
Horrible experience. I agree with others comments that most of the staff are sitting at a desk on their phones. My uncle had pills on his bed, when we discussed with the staff, the woman said, “oh he took all of his pills” and proceeded to toss the found pill it in the trash. The front desk might as well be closed. The young lady did not answer the phone, was on her phone non-stop. I had called the facility earlier in the day with no answer. So I physically when to the facility to ask a question. I tested the phone by calling while I was there. Guess what! The phone was blinking (ringing) and the young lady never answered it. Back in her phone again. Worst of all, we were not called when he was close to death although they knew he was dying. My uncle died alone. Shameful.
Whenever I go visit my family member there staff is always working hard and very nice. Positive changes are happening and it's noticeable throughout residents and staff.
Beautiful building, the residents looked great and well cared for. The activities are top notch with Christy and her staff.
The rooms are very nice! Much larger than other places and they have an incredible theater room. The food was good and the atmosphere was pleasant. The admission process was super easy. I would recommend for your loved one’s rehab needs.
My Grandpa had a very nice experience here. Very hard working employees and very well managed. The room was clean and the care was amazing!
My father is in this facility for rehabilitation and their are about 2 nurses that actually care about the patients. The other attendees aren't trained on the lifts and are lazy. The young lady at the front desk looks like she just got out of bed and is always on her phone. If we had another option for care if pull him out of this place right away.
The Valhalla is a very nice and clean facility. The staff was always friendly, and very helpful with a smile.. I would recommend this facility to any elderly person, Valhalla always has events for folks to engage in and occupy their time from boredom.... Very Nice place...
Thank you so much Valhalla Post Acute for giving my grandmother such great care!
They have the most amazing staff! I highly recommend!
Worst place ever, My Mother was here and thank God we got her out of there, it was a nightmare
DO NOT GO HERE!!! Our family member was here because the family could not care for him at home. He was bedridden and unable to care for himself. He was a respected man proud and always cared about others and himself. He was not cared for properly by this facility on many levels. Firstly his medication was often not given properly- we would find on floors in the bed and obviously not taken. Had numerous meetings and this was addressed, Still follow through was not there. He was not bathed shaved washed shampood as promised weekly. He smelled and this embarrassed himself as well as the family especially when people would drop by and visit. Again, this issue was addressed in facility meetings and was not followed through. COMMUNICATION TERRIBLE- the family was not contacted often when issues or valid concerns would arise. Yet again this was addressed in facility meetings. He passed without the family being contacted that he was even ill. The family was not given an opportunity to say goodbye… Our loved ones deserve better care. This is not the place no matter how nice it may appear. Best of luck with your dear loved one!
My husband was there for 3 weeks for rehab for broken hip. Got an UTI. Was not treated and died 3 weeks later. Worst place ever. I ask the nurses numerous times to check him and they just ignored me.
Highly recommend this facility. The staff truly care about their residents!
I’d give this place negative stars if possible. In fact, I’m doing everything within my power to shut it down. Do not bring your loved ones here. Their wounds will go untreated. More wounds will develop from abuse. There’s bugs everywhere in the patients rooms. I’ve seen hospice patients crawling around on the floor from not being checked on. Employee smoke in the kitchen where the food is made for patients. Drs orders do not get followed. Vitals not taken. Administrator, Social Services and Medical Records will not respond to any questions/concerns/requests regarding immediate medical care. Nurses and CNAs will without a doubt neglect and abuse your loved ones. And demean them. Bed sores will develop. Serious medical issues go untreated. This place is an absolute nightmare. You’ll have PTSD afterwards. Family and patients, both. Please do not take your loved ones here. Don’t fall for the look of the outside and without a doubt fake positive reviews like we did.
Everyone was so nice to me when I was there. It was clean, food was good. I felt welcome.
Valhalla Post Acute deserves a full 5 stars! My father was admitted here for a two-week stay, and the care he received was exceptional. The staff went above and beyond in every aspect, from the dietary team to nursing, housekeeping, and even administration. Everyone was attentive and genuinely cared about his well-being. The administration staff made it a point to visit and ask if we needed anything, which made us feel very supported. I highly recommend Valhalla Post Acute to anyone in need of quality care for their loved ones.
My mother was there for over a month. With the care of the nursing and physical therapy staff, her her back to being independent.
My family member had a great experience here. Admission was easy and thorough and housekeeping kept the room very clean!
I stayed there after a knee replacement several years ago. The staff and therapist were amazing. So glad I did inpatient therapy and couldn’t have selected a better place.
Good facility. The admission process was fairly seamless. They were very helpful and informative about to expect. They took very good care of my family. Especially Jasmine, Shiba and Alexis, who were awesome. I greatly appreciate the effort to make my loved one comfortable.
The facility from the outside is beautiful. That is the only positive aspect of the facility. I was admitted to the facility after being discharged from the hospital to their sub-acute rehab section after being hospitalized for a stage 4 sacral wound & heel wound. I was to have a wound vac to help with healing of the sacral wound & and a chronic foley catheter to prevent infection of the wound. When I arrived at night, both my daughter & I asked for the foley catheter to be inserted. The nurse replied, "well, why didn't they send you here with one." My daughter pressed, and they said they'd call the doctor. Four hours later, she hadn't gotten a reply, so she asked again. The nurse said he was working on it. In the meantime, I was wet & kept needing to be changed, by my daughter because I was told there were no CNAs or nurses available. Secondly, no one knew how to use the wound vac. My daughter ended up calling the manufacturer of the wound vac to get instructions, because none of the nurses on call wanted to attempt to work on it. My daughter has no medical training. After the nurse got orders for the chronic foley catheter six hours later, two nurses attempted to insert the catheter, but they said they couldn't do it because I was too dehydrated... huh? So the day shift nurse came & inserted the foley catheter (13 hours after I was admitted), but she didn't know how to use the wound vac. Then the wound care nurse came & she didn't know how to use the wound vac. So over 24 hours in the facility, no wound vac. My daughter took my temperature & saw that I had a temperature of 101. Fearing infection, she called 911 & had me taken to the hospital. What made matters worse, when I was being taken out, the person across the hall was also having a medical emergency, and EMS was there for them, too. So both EMS teams push their patients, the other sick person and me to the entrance doors & guess what? They are locked and no one is there to open them!!!! So we had to find someone to let us out... in an emergency & we could see a 3rd EMS team there waiting to get in, I guess to pick up someone else. This may have been a bad day, but it was scary. Investigate this place before you send your loved one there. UPDATE: I received a Google Reply to this message on 5/23/24. With all do respect, my focus is on getting better. If the administrator can't read the details of what happen & see the issues are present & doesn't have the ability to identify ways to improve a patient's experience, then he/she doesn't need to be an administrator. A 5th grader could see where the many missteps occurred. I posted this so that people who are looking for safe facilities can be proactive and investigate Valhalla Post Acute before they send someone there. I did not post this to do your job. Please, don't feign like you care. It's falling on deaf ears.
Scary place for my family member. Look for a highly reliable home for your loved ones.
I went to visit a friend March 6th and the place stinks terribly. The front door set off an alarm as I was entering and as I was leaving, it did the same to another person. The cover on her bed looked to be worn and dirty. I would not want to be placed in that stinking place.
If I could give this place 0 stars I would, my grandma was supposed to be receiving “care” at this facility and ended up leaving with marks on her back & her being terrified of everyone now. The care members work from a temp agency so it’s not normal staff working there.
Please beware and don’t send your loved ones to this facility. My Mom was there for 2 1/2 months. And have been nothing but trouble. She hasn’t had the rehab that she needed, not been given her medication correctly, didnt help with feeding and not helping with her drinking anything, and I could keep going on and on. And the facility smelled and was not clean. Thanks goodness she was transferred to a new facility now.
Was recently discharged f which Is a+ for pt received Few pt names to mention that were excellent was miicha.janis & small lady first name started with a V. All excellent therapist. Well majority of aides good but andy.shebree & were other not sure dept but Victoria jasmine please give recognition after all they helped somebody 3day Rrrrrrecogreco
January 10,2024 is my second time at Valhalla Post acute . I fought to come back to this facility because their care is top notch unlike the 6 other facilities I have been in . I will be returning in April when I have my second knee replacement because this is the only place I would choose to be . Their Therapy department is the best . I worked with Brian in PT most of the time and he was so professional and made sure you had all of the tools needed to go home safely . There was no one on their staff that I had a issue with . I have several food allergies I have celiac, dairy allergies and I am allergic to nuts and seeds and Barb that worked in the kitchen went over and above to make food just for me to eat that was Gluten & Dairy free . I am so very thankful for this . Thank you to the whole staff ! Stephanie Cantrell
DIRTY. Floors in my sister's room have not been cleaned in a month despite repeated requests. Trash (used adult undies)not removed from bathroom --it stank horribly. Food is COLD every meal. Common complaint with others who are there. Plus she is diabetic & they are giving her regular menu. I was told by head nurse there is not diabetic menu. The man who runs the place, Taylor says there is diabetic menu avail. She can't eat most of food they bring as it works against her diabetics. Wound care. She was there 2 WEEKS before they provided care for wounds to her legs that she came in with. It's not like they didn't know. Both her legs were wrapped up. Nothing done till complaint made & her legs were in worse shape. Social service ladies not really any help (Lauren & Chelsea). They play pass the buck. I.ve never seen such a shabbily ran place before. Would not recommend. I.ll edit this 1/23 /24. THE ABSOLUTELY WORSE PLACE! NOTHING BUT COMPLICATIONS TRYING TO GET MY SISTER RELEASED FROM THERE & TAKEN TO ANOTHER FACILITY. KEEP YOUR LOVED ONES OUTTA THERE!
My husband is at Valhalla Post Acute at the moment and I have high regard for them. Their rehab staff is excellent. They do great work. They give loving care to the residents, at least they did to my husband, and the nursing staff is responsive and professional. Their physical therapy, occupational therapy, and speech therapy were excellent. He's in a private room. It's very spacious. It had a private bath, a roll-in shower, and a very spacious bathroom. They had activities and he attended just once because he wasn't that interested. He went to some bingo. He didn't participate though. I played bingo and he sat and watched. We went outside and they had nice walkways that you can roll the wheelchair around. It was very pleasant outside. They had common areas, but he wasn't up to that.
Food is horrendous. The rooms are not cleaned.
Our father was a patient here after a broken hip. He was in bed for three days and never received help to turn. On day 3 he complained of pain to his buttocks. I discovered a bedsore and showed the nurse. The nurse never called the doctor and subsequent nurses all lied to us stating it was being cared for. In addition the nurses gave him laxatives causing constant diarrhea and staff would not assist with cleaning him up. He laid there for 2-3 hours in it!! We kept asking if he was still receiving laxatives and were lied to once again. We finally had them stopped!! On day 16 I discovered his bed sore was still not addressed and finally had a nurse notify the Np for orders. After meeting with the unit manager she showed me that there was no documentation on the bedsore and not a single documentation of BM’s charted!! The NP ordered for stool collection ( apparently didn’t look to see if he was getting laxatives). The staff refused to collect it ( despite him having bm’s up to 15 times in a day!), therefore the NP collected it. Meds, including pain meds not delivered for days!! His food was always cold and staff would not let him have coffee, despite no restrictions. Family was present daily and multiple times a day and we still could not get them to provide good care or even be honest with us! He was so exhausted from not sleeping due to constant diarrhea from laxatives that it slowed his PT progress, caused him mental stress, felt belittled, ended up with a UTI and a bedsore!! He was also sent home without the prescription cream for the sore. I feel sorry for those who don’t have family and are placed here. The PT/ OT staff were wonderful- the ,”Nurses” and ,”Assistants”, were demeaning, negligent and uncaring. Do NOT take your loved one here!!
This place is the worst never take your loved ones here or never get a job they have their favorites they have a kitchen manager that works there that carries around his baby on his back you're allowed to take your baby to work with you there and remind you Rehabilitation Center why would you want to bring your kids to a place like that and who's watching your kids how do you know a resident won't do something to one of your kids what if your kids pick up one of those rats that's running around in the place and they got roaches very nasty place and very unprofessional people
Physical facility is beautiful. The medical care was poor. Sometimes meals were not delivered, staff was rude and many were not properly trained, often TV and phone didn't work. Relied heavily on contract workers and little communication among them. As always, there were a few workers who were dedicated and compassionate. In summary don't send your love one to Valhalla.
If you have family staying with patients it might be ok. Nurses and aid don't show up when called. Never want to go back.
Mother had rehabilitation here after stroke. Disappointed with the quality of care received. Would not recommend this facility to anyone. Understand staff shortages can’t always be helped but my family had to be there to assist with basic needs 24/7 because they were not being provided for my mother. She wanted to go to bathroom but it would take so long for someone to come help it would be too late. She was not turned in bed which resulted in bed sore still giving her problems 4 months later. Only one PT seemed to care if she improved while the others made no effort to motivate or encourage her. If she was having a bad day they would just send her back to her room and say she would not participate in therapy. They would not allow family members to be present at daily PT sessions except on rare occasions. Our mother always did well when a family member was there. She went several days without a shower even though we would ask daily and we were told family members could not get her up without hospital staff. She was able to walk with assistance. Mother had been there for more than a week before she received diabetic meals even though it was in all her records upon admission. I noticed several times that the meals brought to her room had another patients name on them. That patient was noted to have a nut allergy! We don’t think floor was mopped or swept more than once in the 6 week stay. I could go on and on.
If I could post a "0" star I definitely would. The facility is beautiful and appeared to be very clean. We were so excited when my husband was accepted to this facility, but it was a nightmare for him for the four days he was in there. The nursing staff were mean, rude and uncaring in every sense of the word. My husband was "scared" to be left alone and unfortunately my daughter and I have to work and could not be there 24 hours with him. I filed a couple of complaints with administration and got him out as fast as I could without going AMA, due to the charges we would have had to incur, but it honestly made the staff treat him even worse. The serve hot food cold, which was minor compared to the treatment he received. I took him peanut butter sandwiches so he would not go hungry. They took hours before responding to any needs. When I finally got him released the first thing I did was give him a shower, because he never received any sponge baths or anything while in there. He was just left to wallow in his own ruins. VERY SAD!!!!! I would NOT recommend anyone to go to this facility.
I feel like the room is in a far away place. I haven’t had but one staff even begin to smile. No one has made us familiar with the room or facility. No one has checked on my husband at all other than leaving a dinner try and picking it up. The nurse showed up with a cup full of pills. When asked she did read me the names off her computer. Getting a glass of ice water as an act of god. They did bring me a cot, asking me to move the chair. He put a fitted sheet on threw the flat sheet on the cot and I have no pillow. Our son brought a small fridge. He opened it and had to leave the styrofoam and box in the room. Staff don’t even acknowledge the mess. It’s like they can’t make eye contact with it. I cannot leave my husband alone here!
Poorly managed, personal rooms and bathroom not cleaned well. Poor communication with families.
No place is without areas of possible improvement. ValHalla is like most places - not enough people applying. HOWEVERR, from the greeters - Natalie and Trina - to the RNs (our most frequent ones were Juan & Renecka) CBAs (Necole & Sheba and night time John), Therapists (Jeff, Robin and others whom I have forgotten their nams), to the Admin/Billing staff, the housekeeping and kitchen staff we could not have asked for anything better.

Trash facility, rude nurses, horrible attitude from everyone all the way around
My husband received excellent care in the last weeks of his life. The nursing staff is very caring as is the administration staff.
My husband was there for 6 + weeks. Short staffed so little attention paid to him. There was 1CNA, 1Therapist and an Agency staff person who actually seemed to care about the patient. He had a physical issue that wasn't addressed for the first 2 1/2 weeks he was there. When I asked why the issue wasn't being addressed, the Nurse told me it was because the issue hadn't been reported. That seemed strange to me since it had been going on for so long. The room wasn't cleaned regularly. In fact, I asked for a broom to sweep the room more than once. We weren't told that the transportation company bringing him home didn't assist with getting him into the house. If we hadn't asked friends to be available, he would have been left in the yard. The wheelchair used to bring him home belonged to the facility. When the transportation person was asked to take it back, we were told to call the facility. The facility asked us to bring it back and we did. The amount of therapy he received was limited. (That may not have been the fault of the facility). However, he's in the same condition he was in before he went to rehab. Very disappointed that a quality "looking" facility didn't provide more quality service.
