Ashwood Place

The admin staff are good to me and take great care of me. Food is okay and I like activities they have in the community.

Food is mediocre. No nutritional value at all. High on carbs and sugars. Low on taste. Transportation is limited to 3 days per week (M-W-F) with limited hours 9am-11am. Good luck getting a hair appointment within those hours. There is a on-site salon but it’s only open a couple days each week. Management more concerned about marketing events than making activities available for residents. There is an undisclosed annual increase to rent, 2024 being 11 percent and expect even higher for 2025. Recommend to use the money you’d spend here on in-home care for your loved one. Light housekeeping.

We chose Ashwood Place because of the close proximity to me, their physicians, hospital, and costs. Facility and staff are great! Food services are inconsistent. A big portion of what we pay is for the food service and feel it should improve--a lot. Seniors obviously need good nutrition.

All of the staff are friendly. One of the waist staff goes out of the way to help people, just today a person noticed that I acted like I was having trouble breathing and came over and asked if I was ok. Has helped me before.

The majority of people who stay here are lovely. If you have ever eaten with 3 people at a table when one new person asks, they are always welcome!! We play bingo on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday which is fun, for one hour and small, useful prizes.

Most amazing place I’ve ever been a part of!

I would recommend it to other people looking for a place. I think it's the right size, not too big not too small. The staff are very nice and friendly. Other residents are very nice and friendly. They have consistent activities That she enjoys. They do a nice job. The food was a little rough when they lost the cook, but that is improving and that really can't be helped it happens.

I have been here 3 weeks and my experience has been good. The food is good and staff is very helpful and friendly.

I was most impressed with Ashwood Place. I like that even though it's independent living, they have a subcontractor they work with, and they offer a la carte assistance. The rooms were nice. Everything was very nice there. The staff was very professional and very informational. They had activities.

I am here temporary, I find the place very suitable for me, except the food which needs some improvement. Meals are too close together. I would recommend overall suitable.

Very friendly staff, easy access for families to visit, transportation is available (on a limited basis), fun activities for residents. I would absolutely recommend Ashwood place to others looking for independent living.

My Aunt has been at Ashwood Place for a couple of moths. The director, Emily, has helped us figure out and navigate some issues with her in a very caring and informative way. We are so appreciative of her extra help and guidance. And the facility has so many activities and support. We are thankful for Ashwood Place.

My mother lives at Ashwood and enjoys Ashwood Place and all their activities. She has lived there six years and it was her decision to move there. She has never regretted her decision. The staff treats her like family and sees to her every need. This keeps her independent which is very important to her.

We gave the value for cost 4 stars because it is very pricey. That she is provided meals. Staff is VERY willing to help in any way they can. Especially [name removed] and [name removed] , but all have been very polite. From maintenance to kitchen staff. Grounds are very nice, and my Mom can plant her flowers to enjoy while she sits on her patio.

Overall experience has been great. Recently my Dad fell in dining room. Staff reacted perfectly and got EMS on scene to get him to hospital. They are loving the experience.

My dad has lived here for over two years now. The staff does an excellent job in providing a home like atmosphere. Dad does wish that there was more variety in the menu offerings.

My mother is at Ashwood Place and we have a caretaker that comes in the mornings and the evenings and helps her with her medicine, helps her get dressed, and helps her bathe, and that kind of thing. However, the caseworkers said that she probably needed more care than that with these Lewy body, but we just want to make sure that this is what she has. She has an apartment. They go to the dining room, and they take orders. They clean her apartment once a week. At this place, I have to contract anything else out. Everything is contracted out. If I move her, we have to give a two-month notice. For a little while, she didn't have cable in her bedroom, but they just fixed that. We told them about it and they took care of it. The staff is friendly. Everybody is great. The food is better than the other places. They have activities and I wish mom would get into them, but she doesn't. I saw bingo and they have games on Sundays. A lot of times I'm in there and they have something going on in the activity room. They have books, a library, and they even have equipment for the in-house physical therapist and the occupational therapist. They have a security guard there between 8:00 and 9:00 at night until 7:00 in the morning. If mom falls or needs anything, she's on her own, but if she falls, they have cords in the room in three different areas plus she has a necklace, one in the living room, in the bedroom, and the bathroom. If she falls, she can pull the cord or she has a necklace or she has a cell phone, and she calls the security guard. She has done this. They call the fire department and the lift service will come and lift mom. They can't touch mom. They will put her back in bed. They will check and make sure she's OK and put her back in bed or take her on to the emergency room. Mom's on her own. If she doesn't wear that necklace, she might have to crawl to pull a cord or something. They don't have a stove, she can't cook, nothing to plug in, no hot plate. Mom has a balcony and there's a courtyard and her room overlooks the courtyard. It's beautiful and spacious.

I moved my dad into Ashwood Place a couple of weeks ago. I was coming in from out of town during a very stressful time. Cathy and the staff at Ashwood Place have made the transition for dad, seem less. They have taken very good care of him and put my mind at ease that he is taken care of since I cannot be there all the time. Corey, the security guard at night is great and Cathy who is my contact, answers any questions I have and responds quickly to my texts. I cannot thank the staff enough for helping me during a difficult time. My dad loves it there and that makes a huge difference! Thank you! Thank you!

My parents settled into Ashwood Place in October 2030 and soon felt right at home. They discovered several acquaintances lived there as well. Now that the facilities are opening up for activities they are enjoying the gym, bible study, happy hour ( or as we refer to it - “the jolly trolley”), bingo and visiting during dining hours. The staff has made them feel special. Thank you.

My mother has lived at Ashwood Place since January of 2019. It has been a wonderful experience for her. Ashwood has a real sense of community and family. The staff goes above and beyond to serve their residents and I would highly recommend them to anyone seeking an independent living facility.

We moved my mother into Ashwood this month. The staff was very accommodating to our needs and extremely helpful throughout the process. Everyone there is very kind and cares a great deal about their residents and it shows.

I moved to Ashwood last month after living alone for many years. This has been a huge blessing in my life. I found myself being very lonely and not eating well while living alone. My friends and family suggested I take a look at Ashwood and it has been the best decision. I have made so many friends. I’ve gotten healthier with all the dining options. I go to many activities especially Bible study. Krista and Sarah are so nice to work with. Anything I need they take care of. The community is so clean and inviting. I never want to leave here and wish I had moved sooner.

My grandmother has lived here for a few years and I visited her from out of town last week. She is happy, her room is clean and spacious. The director introduced herself to us and talked to us for awhile in the hall. My grandmother said she talks to her everday. I met some other people who live there. They were friendly and talked to us as well. Its comforting to know she has people around to look after her since we live so far away. She has made a lot of friends.

Ashwood Place has been such a blessing to our family. Everyone working there goes above and beyond to make everyday special for the residents. We are especially thankful to know that mom is eating well, resting well and is in a safe environment.

My mom lived in Ashwood Place and they were awesome. The staff was awesome, even the cleaning staff. The rooms were nice. She lived in a one-bedroom apartment, so she had a bedroom, a living room, and a nice big bathroom. They furnish their own bedding and towels, and they clean the rooms once a week. When you take your relative there, they're going to have clean sheets put on their beds every week, new towels, and new washcloths. The food was good and they had lots of activities. It was more like a retirement place, but there were a lot of elderly people there too. When they had people that were really getting bad with their memory problems, they still allowed them to stay as long as it wasn't too bad. If it got bad, they would just require the people to hire somebody to come and sit with them. They pretty much didn't push you out. The value was good. They had several open areas and a porch where you can go out and sit. It's right next to the hospital and a lot of doctors' offices. It's a very good location. They have people come in from different agencies that can do things like they do with assisted living.

I recently toured Ashwood with my grandmother and the staff was very helpful. They spent a ton of time showing us around and answered all of our questions. The building is clean and the residents were doing yoga when we toured so the residents really are active. We toured every senior living place in Frankfort and this one definitely meets my grandmothers needs the best. We are hoping her house sells soon so she can go ahead and move in.

My tour at Ashwood Place was very good. I was impressed with it and the staff. I spoke with some of the residents who seemed very happy. I was impressed with what they offered. The staff stood out the most.

My mom moved in this past January. The staff and everyone there have been friendly and professional. The building is clean and well maintained. We couldn't ask for anything better.

I have heard great things from my loved one about Ashwood Place! We have no complaints, as the facility is nice and my loved one is very satisfied with her stay.

My mother seems to be adjusting well and likes it very much here. They seem to be doing everything they are supposed to. We chose Ashwood Place because it is close to my office and our family which makes it easy to visit.

My Mother-in-Law lived happily at Ashwood for 5years before she died at age 90. At almost 93, my Mother was ready to consider an alternative to living alone in her home. She wasn't totally sold on moving, but decided to give it a try. The deciding factor was being able to bring her dog and cat. She's been at Ashwood only a month and we've seen a remarkable change in her. She still has her walker and cane, but rarely uses them. She's motivated to walk, participate and live again. The staff is friendly, professional, responsible and caring. The activities are engaging and she loves the food. She's always taken great pride in her home and has been able to decorate her apartment just as she wanted it. She just called me to tell me there was a called meeting in the dining room this afternoon and she wondered what was going on. It was a surprise party the day before Thanksgiving, complete with finger foods, music and dancing.

During my tour at of the Ashwood, I noticed all of the residents were very happy and in a room playing board games. The staff was all very friendly and informative. The only problem I noticed with this place was when we walked into the dining room the floors were sticky. It could have just been that day, though.

I was very pleased with Ashwood Place. It was very clean, and it offered everything that our parents needed. It was located very close to the doctor offices. The girl that I worked with -- the new manager there -- showed me several different floor plans, and she was very helpful. Unfortunately, it wasn't in our price range, but it was a beautiful place. I would recommend it to anybody. I think they were playing bingo when we were there. The dining area was really nice.

Ashwood (Ashwood Place) is very close to the hospital and to the retail operation. We like that it’s very conveniently located. They have some variations in the living arrangements and different arrangements in the rooms and apartments, including three or four free-standing small cabins right next to the facility. The food was pretty good. They had a very good chef, but they were big on maintaining the calories. They had a library and exercise people coming in from the outside.

Ashwood Place was bright, clean and well-maintained. They were very friendly. It has a wonderful place to eat and entertain family. It’s a very nice place.

I went to Ashwood Place, and it was very nice. I thought the rooms were very nice, they were very clean, the whole place was just immaculate, and it was a beautiful facility. I really liked their cafeteria. The way it was set up was very nice. It was right near the Senior Center, so they bus people over to the Senior Center. I didn't have a relative in this facility, but I am trying to look at it for my mother now.

We are so happy to have found Ashwood Place! My mother was not being very co-operative in finding a place for her to live. She was afraid of all the changes that come with living in a new community. We toured Ashwood Place on her birthday. When we arrived Mom was presented with a tiara, a birthday card, and a large decorated cupcake! Mom was Queen for the day and loved the attention. Mom has lived there for month now and has shown more independence than she had been. The meals are wonderful(we personally have eaten them )! Mom has met people and enjoys the company! We couldn't have asked for a place with better staff! They are friendly, informative, and take an active interest in every resident! Thank you to A Place for Mom !

We visited Ashwood, and I really liked that they had cottages outside that you could rent if you wanted to or live in. Everything seemed to be efficient. The inside of their apartments were really nice. We met the girl that toured us, but everyone seemed very loving and caring there. She was very informative, gave us all the information, and answered all our questions at that time. She was very helpful. We were very pleased in visiting this place.

Ashwood is a perfect place, and the facility is amazing. We’re extremely happy with the staff; they're very involved, caring, and they watch out for the residents. The place is clean, and it’s been a very good experience for us. I already have recommended them to our friends and relatives.

The rooms at Ashwood Place had their own bathroom and they were a decent size. The dining room was set up like a cafeteria. The staff seemed to be genuinely involved with the residents. It was in a nice location with a hospital there and a shopping center nearby, too.

Ashwood Place is an independent living facility. It's about 10 miles from my house, so that's one thing. I think there are about 200 some apartments and there are a couple of studio apartments that aren't with the main building. It was built about 22 years ago. I'm the carpenter that actually worked on it at the time. The people are helpful. My mother likes it. They have some activities here. She likes the food. They have their main meal at lunch between 11:30 and 1:00pm. She doesn't usually make it to breakfast because she usually just has breakfast in her own room and it takes her a while to get ready. It's a studio apartment. It has a nice bathroom. It's a decent-sized room with a patio porch on it. It's nice, it is well kept. Since my mom is very well satisfied here, I could give them a 5.
