Carmel Home

The Carmel Home in Owensboro, Ky is terrible. The attention to their elderly living there is negligent and dehumanizing, and what makes it even worse is how costly the nursing home is for that type of care. I have many pictures if you would like to see. Pictures of extremely dry skin, long nails that always had old food packed in them, food on the walker, a soiled cleaning rag that sat on the bathroom floor for 2 days. She had a rash on her butt that was blistered and sore. When 3 nurses took her to the bathroom to clean her packed full diaper (she had sat in for no telling how long), not one of them treated it. I had to bring it to their attention. If I hadn't, then who knows what it would have looked like the following day. The list goes on....I word never recommend this facility

Carmel Home is a bigger, cleaner and newer facility than where my mom is in right now. Their environment was more home-like and it didn't have an antiseptic smell to it when I visited. It was also brighter and the furnishings were newer. Their rooms were bigger. There were also more private areas that you can go and actually visit instead of always having to visit at a nurses station or in a crowded hallway. There was also more individual care there.
