Reviews
for Cedarhurst Senior Living of Owensboro
There are times in life when children are faced with what do you do and who can you turn to. After placing our mom at Cedarhurst we quickly learned we had made the absolute best decision. The love, smiles and care that each person who works there pour into your loved one is like no other. My brother and I visited several times a week and not one time did we question our decision! To be able to leave your loved one and trust someone caring for your family is very hard but not one time did we second guess our choice. The staff went above and beyond to see that our momma was cared for. Although our Mother has gone to be in a better place I know we have met the best caretakers and staff in this world! Thank you all for everything you did and continue to do. I hope each and every one of you know the blessing you have been to us! I hope I dont leave anyone out but thank you for everything Winter Stelmach, Ashlyn Miles, Beth Hill, CJ Loney, Chuck Robbin’s, Tessa Alvey, Daphne Porter, Jan Wiseman, Shirley Phelps, Tammy Janosa, Juanita Ayala, Tina Johnson, Emily Rummage, Marci Brown, Lauren Hughes, Paige Hughes, Ellen Allen, Apple Balderas, Angel Bratcher, Courtney Ewing, Join Johnson, Kristie Johnson, Nina Johnson, Beverly Kirkpatrick, Leah Lewis, Ashley Lambert, Emma Montgomery, Nichole Simmons, Angie Sharp, Grace Heady, Wanda Taylor, Bridgette. You all are true rockstars and blessings on Earth ❤️
Very nice place. It must be the nicest in Daviess County. We were looking for a place for my mother. Daphne from the front desk gave us a thorough tour and was able to answer any questions we had and provided literature to take home. The rooms, atmosphere and activity options were very nice. Thank you Daphne for your time and patience walking us through this process.
There are Angels walking on this earth. My mother was hit with a bad seizure and found out she had a brain tumor. When it was removed, it accelerated her early dementia signs. She was a “people person” her whole life, but she was very anti nursing home facility her entire life as well. She, being a widow, and my sister and I both raising young kids already, had no other options but to search for a place to care for her and keep her safe. It was the greatest decision we could have ever made for her, even though we knew she never wanted this. After a week and a half of adapting, she thrived and her spirit came back to life. She suffered several other seizures and lead to her demise, but she find a purpose and life again at Cedar Hurst. My sister and I visited her about 4-5 times a week. We got to see first hand, how she was thriving. We saw the angels doing their work on these residents there at Cedar Hurst first hand. No one wants to have to make this decision, but if you are put in this position, know that the people of Cedar Hurst of Owensboro, are God’s angels placed here on this earth, to deal with this terrible disease. It was the absolute best decision we could have made for our mother. I hope I don’t miss a name, but they deserve all the recognition in the world and I’ll never forget the love and care they gave my mother and many others. Winter Stelmac, Ashlyn Miles, Beth Hill, CJ Loney, Chuck “the ice cream man” Robbin’s, Tessa Alvey, Daphne Porter, Jan Wiseman, Shirley Phelps, Tammy Janosa, Juanita Ayala, Tina Johnson, Emily Rummage, Marci Brown, Lauren and Paige Hughes “the twins”, Ellen Allen, Apple Balderas, Angel Bratcher, Courtney Ewing, Join Johnson, Kristie Johnson, Nina Johnson, Beverly Kirkpatrick, Leah Lewis, Ashley Lanbert, Emma Montgomery, Nichole Simmons, Angie Sharp, Grace Heady, and Wanda Taylor. The job that you do is not for the weak, and we can’t thank you enough for the love you shared with our mom. Thank you and blessings to each of you.
I’d like to sing the praises of some very special staff members at Cedarhurst! Jan, Daphne and Tessa are always extremely pleasant helpful with whatever we need! Morgan goes above and beyond to make sure Mom’s needs are met. CJ is very helpful and responsive with all of Moms medical and medication concerns. In the dining room, April, Josh and Lily make sure she has what she needs and is loved and cared for. Katherine always checks on her and invites her to participate in activities. Cherri is a wonderful lady that takes good care of Mom’s cleaning needs and is also a listening ear. Special thanks to Andrea for being so wonderful and compassionate and helping with this transition into assisted living. Winter does a great job ensuring that the whole staff works together as a team!
This place is a 15 out of a ten!!! Love everything about this place ! Staff April in the dining room is great at her job! Best place for your family to be!
Tessa Alvey and all of the front desk staff are so welcoming and helpful, and I have found the same servant-attitude in staff as they interact with residents.
Jane, Tessa and all the front desk staff are very welcoming. All of the staff at Cedar Hurst are amazing and care for your family members just like it’s their family. So thankful for each and every person in Cedar Hurst
I visit Cedarhurst 3 times a week and eat in the dining room on each visit. April Arnold serves me often. She is always pleasant, knows my name, and is efficient and consistently positive. Cedarhurst is fortunate to have her.
Cedarhurst is such a beautiful facility. So many activities and an incredibly caring staff. I've visited numerous times and each time I have been so impressed with the positive atmosphere throughout the building. Seeing Darlene Stelmach interacting with the residents during activities, it is so evident that she loves what she does, as well as the residents.

Lily taber was amazing!!!
Great place for old people thanks to Marina Haynes
Summer
Lily, Rose and Josh are amazing and caring people. They always go above and beyond for everyone all the time.
Josh Willoughby has definitely made the dinning room services more enjoyable for all the residents. He is always smiling and always willing to help all the residents have the best dinning experience. All the residents love to see him there and when he is off, they are always asking where he is. Everyone talks about how great the food is when he is in the kitchen. Lilly Taber is also a great asset to the dinning room. She is always smiling and willing to help others. Josh and Lily make a great team in the dinning room. They make sure everything gets done as well as provide a clean atmosphere. They are definitely busy from the time they get there until they leave. If you see these two in the dinning room, be sure to thank them for a job well done. They are always going above and beyond for the residents.
Josh Willoughby is truly an asset to the dining staff!

This is a nice place and Summer Vowels is a nice person to work with.
Summer Vowels offers such compassion and excellent care when it comes to her residents. She understands that the residents aren't just patients and this facility is their home. I would give more than 5 stars if it was possible.

Great place for elders, workers are great. Marina Haynes is a really nice and respectful!
I toured Cedarhurst of Owensboro, and it's a new facility. The rooms have washers and dryers, so you don't have to leave your room to wash your clothes. If I had stayed there, that's where I would have been, and the staff was nice.
Three words to describe CedarHurst: IT’S A MIRAGE. Do your best to look past the staged facility. It does show well. However, once a resident, you start to see the things that matter. We put our loved one in the Memory Care unit. I think the bulk of the problems stem from poor staffing, poor training of the staff, and mis-management by those in charge. With the exception of a few, the staff members were not engaged. When you go there after the normal hours, you see a lot. They sat a lot, looked at their phones, and would ask me to handle getting my loved one to bed. In addition, the room and bathroom were almost always dirty. We had ants! Multiple times I stripped the bed as the bedding was dirty. Multiple times they didn't have a mattress pad (we provided) on the bed. The food our loved one ate was consistently cool even though the staff was right there to serve it. And our biggest pet peeve was that our loved one lacked proper BASIC hygiene. Don't go there. You can do better.
We, too, were awed by the “resort” atmosphere of CedarHurst. So much so that we moved our loved one into Memory Care. It is not, however, what you think. Most issues are related to the staff. The (most not all) RAs are not interested in doing their jobs as our loved one lacked proper basic care. A lot of time was spent sitting and talking or looking at their phones. If management was doing their jobs this might have been different but we hardly saw any management around unless they were walking out of their office to leave the memory care unit. The apartment was always dirty and had ants. The laundry was not handled well as things disappeared. The bedding was changed far too many times by family because it was dirty. We had a constant problem with the staff not covering the bed with the mattress pads we provided. The food was almost always cold when the staff serving it were right there but were in no hurry to serve it. Absolutely NOT worth the huge price tag.
Memory care is not what it appears. It is a beautifully wrapped present that is empty inside. The RAs (with exception of a few) are un-engaged, slow, and lack the care and concern you hope they’d have for your loved one. Management stays hidden behind their office doors and rarely interacts. Our loved one lacked proper hygiene, proper laundry care, the room was never clean and had ants! I could say much more.
My mother was there for about a year. Just within a year they raised the rent 750.00 etc a month and she was already paying outrageous fees. I asked for a detail list of where all the charges were going and was not provided one. The last week she was there they did not give her a bath. That was 7 days without a bath. Would you go 7 days without a bath, I don't believe so. Times as i was there, i would see staff sitting at a table on their phones instead of attending to patients. There were many people i liked but some that could care less. The cleaning in the rooms was also bad. We have moved her to new place. It's amazing the difference. My mom looks much cleaner, her room is definitely cleaner. Oh and About 1150.00 cheaper a month. Like i said there was some people i really liked but most of the staff was lazy . My mom moved out in Dec. there was a charge on my moms account in janaury for medicine for which she was not there. I have been waiting a week to hear from someone . Just my thoughts.
The main reason we chose Cedarhurst of Owensboro was because it looks like a vacation home or a hotel! Very knowledgeable and helpful staff members! I do recommend this facility to others.
I have a family member who lives at Cedarhurst. All of our interactions with the staff there have been good. Staff goes above and beyond to take care of her. Anything we have ever asked about, they were quick to look into it for us. You can tell that the staff genuinely cares about her. Facility is beautiful, clean, apartment size is good. Would not want her anywhere else!
The experience was very good. The apartments are very nice, and roomy, not sure on amenities. It would be nice, if someone is put in the hospital and you want to come back they give a discounted rate to hold the apartment!!!!
Sales team told us all the right things. Staff did not deliver. The RAs were kind, but had no direction. LO would go weeks without a shower and all day without a briefs change. Soiled depends left in restroom all day, sometimes on the back of the toilet. Put to bed on mattress with no protector, sheets, etc. Bran new mattress ruined. Price increased more than $2500 per month in just 16 months. Care plan not implemented. When asked for copy of implementation of care plan, we’re told we’d have to pay extra. Said we’d pay extra and still never received. We moved our LO to much better place.
We were told our LO would have all needs taken care of so we could enjoy quality time. They never showered our LO. She would often be in soiled briefs for hours. Soiled briefs were left in the room - sometimes in the trashcan, sometimes on the back of the toilet. Mattress protectors were supplied by us but often not used. Brand new mattress ruined and LO was sometimes placed directly on mattress with no sheets. Do not believe what the sales people tell you. Care plans are not implemented. There are several wonderful RAs there, but the staff constantly turns over and management is terrible. So sad that such a beautiful facility with such poor regard for memory care residents.
I do not recommend Cedarhurst Of Owensboro’s Memory Care facility. We had problems from day one, and it was a constant battle for over a year to try and get them to take the proper care of our loved one. I could write a book, but I will leave it at that. The staff were loving and caring and never mistreated our loved one, they just were not experienced or trained well enough to get the needs taken care of on a daily basis. Some of the things that were neglected they did not need training for, one example: putting our loved one to bed on a bare mattress when there were clean sheets in the drawer beside the bed. Management is terrible and what you are sold on you do not get, even though you pay for it. Within 18 months there was a price increase of over two thousand per month. The best day at Cedarhurst was the day we moved our loved one out. The new place we found is a God send!
