Reviews
for Colonial Center
As a nurse that has grown here from a CNA, I can tell you first hand that this building is home like and everyone whether it be staff or residents feel like family. True caring individuals that strive to better enhance the lives of our residents.
I have watched as these dedicated women and men have taken such great pains to be kind and respectful while doing jobs I would hesitate to do. I have seen genuine love and compassion for all the residents.
Staff are very dedicated to their job,and to respect each resident, and give them all the care they need and deserve
I am not a patient, but I have called to speak with a person, and they do not even give me the opportunity to explain, they hang up the phone, I called her back, and I asked what the problem? why she hung up the phone? she said if you want information you have to talk to the administrator, but it is assumed that if she is answering the calls it is because she is in the administration, and in any case they have to put professional people, not rude people who hang up the phone without letting people speak, I would like to ask the administrator carefully Pay attention to this, put nice people answer the phone, if you don't want to give the information, do it kindly, not just hang up the phone, like an uneducated person.
The nurses at Colonial Center were kind but did not respond to her calls for help in a timely manner. My developmentally disabled sister's bedding was not changed for four days. They were stained and filthy. Someone visiting actually changed the sheets for her and cleaned the room as much as possible. She did not receive a shower in four days even though it was requested on the first day. The facility is old and very dirty. It is in much need of renovations and regular maintenance. They did not clean out the drawers of the prior patient and were giving those clothes to my sister to wear. She did not have a tv on her side of the room for four days even though it was requested on the first day. The administration and head nurses were knowledgeable and kind but the run down facility and lack of personal care made my sister's stay there unpleasant and she discharged before her rehab was complete.
Most of the pictures on google are not a correct depiction of the facility. The residents are not treated as they should or have the rights they supposed to be afforded. The staff is almost always understaffed and some are even rude and disgruntled. This place is a falacy and should be shut down or administration needs to change. #ThumbsDown 馃憥馃憥
The staff is caring and helpful to all my brother鈥檚 health needs. I visit him often and they are acceptive of my concerns for him. The nurses work with me since I am his voice. The CNAs are hard workers and are very patient with him and me. I appreciate everyone at Colonial Center for their dedication to care to the residents.
I have been at Colonial since May 2022 and I am so glad I made the transition!! The team is welcoming and supportive. Our residents make my job so rewarding!
Several years ago, a valued and trusted colleague in the Department of Mathematics at Western Kentucky University told me that if or when any member of my family needed long term care to make my choice based on the people who serve at the facility and not the appearance of the facility itself. I was aware that his wife was a resident of Colonial Manor (now Colonial Center). Three years ago, circumstances dictated that long term care was needed for my wife. Heeding my colleagues advice, I chose Colonial Center for her care. I must say that his advice was solid. I have found members of the staff at all levels to be highly competent and caring. When the COVID-19 pandemic arose, I carefully monitored statistics from all long term care facilities is the area. Although cases arose among the residents and staff, Colonial Center clearly distinguished itself in the category of mortality. Their success was nothing less than extraordinary. Most recently, my wife became critically ill. An experienced nurse recognized the condition to be sepsis and immediately called for an ambulance to transport her to a hospital (I chose Greenview Hospital here in Bowling Green). While her chances for survival appeared slim for a period of time, she recovered from the ordeal and is now "back home" as a resident of Colonial Center. I would be remiss if I did not mention my concern related to turnover of personnel. Clearly, the stressful nature of the service and remuneration of healthcare professionals has played a role in this turnover. As young replacements are employed at Colonial Center, I hope and pray that the caring characteristics can be maintained.
My mother has been a patient with Colonial Center since 2017! She has Alzheimers, and I could not ask for better care! The staff are absolutely wonderful and so engaged with the patients. They even cut her hair for me during the pandemic when we couldn't get beauticians in. I am so thankful for them and would highly recommend them to anyone with a loved one going into the nursing home. It has been a wonderful experience and I know that my Mom is loved!
Under staffed always. Basic needs get overlooked on a daily basis.
Colonial is a great place. They make you feel like you are at home. The staff is friendly.
Colonial Center has a well earned reputation for its highly competent staff and the compassion they demonstrate for patients and their families. I have personally experienced, during the time they have been caring for my wife, actions by the all branches of the staff that dramatically exemplify this reputation and cause me to view our relationship as one of family. Although it is not possible to name each member of the Center who has validated the reputation, I feel that Camiel Dennis is one who personifies the admirable qualities identified with Colonial Center and its staff. We associated with Colonial Center are extremely fortunate to have Camiel and treasure her dedication to us as her extended family.
My family has been at Colonial for almost two years. I find the staff to be very professional, courteous, and efficient in all areas of care for my family member as well as myself personally.
Do NOT put your loved ones in this facility! They mistreated my grandmother in horrible ways, stole from her, didn't bathe her for 3 month, screamed at her amongst other things. Bad place!
Home like atmosphere , staff love residents like family!
Understaffed on weekends. It looks nothing like the photo, walls need paint, furniture is worn out. The staff gains up in 3 and try鈥檚 to convince you your loved ones are liners, they are worried about one thing $$$$
This facility is an absolute joke and needs to be held accountable for their rude, unfriendly staff and inadequate living conditions! There are a dozen nursing facilities in the Bowling Green area, many with 4 star and above reviews. Ashley, a nurse at this facility, could care less about the patients and in my opinion is the worst attitude in the building. I suppose she forgot why she first entered into nursing, or maybe she just never really cared about people!
I would not take anyone back to Colonial Center. My mother was there for one week and was treated terrible. In the week she was there, she never received a bath and I was told that they have a schedule to go by and give baths once a week. For older people, that is not enough, especially if they have UTI issues, etc. She told them that she didn't feel good and ask that they call me three times. They never did call, I just happened to drop in. That is when I decided that this wasn't the place for my mother and we took her home. I can give her better care at home and work than they do on a daily basis. The only person that was nice and helpful was Alison Ray. I wouldn't recommend this facility to anyone and I believe that it needs to be revamped with personnel, etc. Since I have to give it a star, it will only get one, it doesn't deserve that.
From the time we walked in the front door to visit a long time family friend, we were greeted with happy, pleasant staff. They are spread thin, but truly cared about the the clientelle. We had a nice conversation with one of the staff who truly poured their heart and soul into their job. One thing you will notice is Colonial doesn't have that 'nursing home' smell at all. It's not updated and modern, but the facility is very well cared for and clean.
Thought it was a very nice and clean and pleasant Home. .The stAff very helpful and cordial.
