Reviews
for Magnolia Village
If you are looking for a place for your loved one that you know they will be cared for, Magnolia Village is the place. They have an abundance of attentive staff members. They all have positive attitudes and make us (family members) feel welcome any time of day. My dad is a slow eater and needs assistance most of the time. Last Saturday evening I came to see him while he was eating dinner. Danielle was helping him eat when I got there. The kitchen staff didn’t get upset about him taking his time eating. This is a safe, happy environment for our family members to live.
Sorry this is long. All the staff that on a daily basis provided care for my mom did an excellent job (except for 1 nurse, see below). Mom was in this facility for physical rehab. Some of the physical therapy folks did an excellent job working with her while some seemed put out and bothered by her. When Mom arrived I began staying with her because she did not know where she was, was panicked and due to this had difficulty going to sleep. If family was with her her panic was decreased and she would go to sleep without experiencing misery. 6 weeks into her stay a nurse I had never encountered before told me that it was after 8:00 pm and I had to leave. I tried to explain myself and was cut of by being told "these are the rules". Later she came back to tell me to leave again but this time did it in the presence of my mom which woke her up and set her back into a panic. The next night I was again informed to leave again waking and panicking my mom. I mentioned at this point that Kentucky law states that a long term care facility cannot deny a patient from having family present outside of visiting hours. I said I would not leave, was cut of being told that "these are the rules". The following week I was in the facility during the day and came across the same nurse. I asked her if the facility had received the email I had forwarded from the Ombudsmen. She again informed me that I had to follow the visitation rules. Soon after an individual approached me stating she was the administrator and she would have been contacted by an Ombudsman if one was involved. I mentioned that restricting family contact with a patient was illegal and she said it did not matter because these are the rules then walked away. Of the 4 emails I sent to the facility none of them were responded to or acknowledged. Note: the facility pamphlet states that they have open visiting hours. Latter the Ombudsman informed me that the facility had previously been cited for denying family contact with patients and had not corrected this issue. Another issue is that during my mom's stay Dad was not involved in any treatment or discharge planning. Over all I'm concerned that the leadership of this facility is unprofessional and unethical in not following the law concerning visitation and by not involving the family in treatment and discharge planning. It is not in my mom's best interest to lay in bed unable to go to sleep because she does not know where she is and is panicking. It is not in my mom's best interest for her family to not be involved in treatment and discharge planning. As these folks are professionals I would have expected them to advocate for family contact. As professionals I would have expected them to advocate for family participation in treatment and discharge planning to insure mom's best outcome.
My mother has dementia and I feel like the new activity director has really made a difference in her attitude. She is singing in the multi purpose room and joining others for the first time. Thank you Renita Hudson ❤️
Very positive. Excellent care for resident. Deborah Walker
Magnolia Village has the greatest staff you could ask for! They will go above and beyond to ensure your loved ones are taken care of!
I can’t say enough good things about Magnolia Village. Great facility and team!
Magnolia Village takes excellent care of my Mother. Every time I have visited her she was content and well cared for. The staff is friendly and goes above and beyond to be helpful. Truly Blessed to have my Mom at Magnolia Village. P Hogan
I have my Mom there because of the excellent nursing staff. Facility itself is to be desired considering the price is a couple thousand above state average. I would give nursing staff 5 stars. They show so much care for their residents. I am not sure hygiene routines are performed as often as they should be. But in many ways this staff goes over and above with lots of hugs for their residents. The residents seem to really enjoy their interaction. However, lately the facility and personal space has not been clean and the pictures do not represent the facility. Furniture is run down and damaged and dirty for the most part. Patients bathroom are used as storage areas. The food is starch laden and looks like below average quality. Laundry services is less than great but I am sure it's very difficult to keep up with everything. Update: Magnolia Village, in concern of the care they provide, called and we had a lengthy conversation about this review. Again, this is an example of the excellent staff they have there.
Thank you for the Thanksgiving Dinner for families of residents. The food was very good and so was the visit. Dad has been at Magnolia Village since June. He says he is treated like a king by the staff and points out staff members who care so well for him. I am so glad he is in a place that is so clean and safe.
Magnolia Village is a safe and caring nursing home. My daughter comes to visit with her friends every Sunday and they have a blast with not just her grandmother, but the other residents and staff. The staff has taken such good care of my mother for several years. We are so thankful for everyone that works so hard and does everything with a smile on there face. Jennifer has handled everything we've needed. Hannah connects so well with the kids, the residents, and is amazing at what she does.
Thank you so much for hosting a Thanksgiving celebration for the residences and their families. The meal was very tasty and it was nice to see such a good turn out.
Wonderful place and people are great
Very caring staff. Good meals and clean facility.
There is no better health care facility!!! From the administrator, Jennifer Soldevilla, down to each and every staff member....every one is so genuinely concerned about each and every resident!! I have never witnessed such compassion and loving support for residents and family members. THANK YOU MAGNOLIA VILLAGE!!! YOU ARE THE BEST!!!
The team at Magnolia Village is wonderful. They are always helpful, kind and genuine.
My 93 year old Father was here for rehab about a month following hip surgery, and I was greatly surprised to see the level of care and attention he was given. The nursing staff was not only knowledgeable, but also very compassionate. The rehab staff working to get him from the wheelchair to walking again were very patient and kind and met their mark. The young women who were in charge of activities provided much needed love and fun to an otherwise ordinary day. Finally, the management staff helped walk me through the unknown territory of eldercare for which I was extremely grateful.
I really enjoying my visits to this facility as the staff was very professional, the facility clean and up to date, and the food was very good. The patient I was there to visit soiled their self moments after my arrival and within minutes of notifing the staff the patient was cleaned and changed as were the linens on the bed. Shortly after the staff changed her, the cleaning staff came in and removed all the trash and dirty linens. I was very happy with the services. The nutritional staff came and asked what she wanted for lunch and promptly brought in her food. They also brought in a guest tray for me and the food was fantastic. I was all around pleased with the service and care.
