Reviews
for Dominion Senior Living of Florence
Went back and forth with director to get things right but always went back to the issues we had. Mom didn't get regular showers. Feet stunk and skin was awful looking. Food was like what you might see in a ghetto pre school. Did not put her compression socks on every day which was doctor orders. Would let her sleep for days setting up in her chair. Legs stayed swollen. I had her with me for less than 2 weeks and all these issues went away.
My family couldn’t have imagined a more beautiful place for our father! The tour and his Day 1 were fantastic! When he was assessed, Dominion placed him in assisted living. Sadly, after only 4 days, we were told he had to leave or we’d have to provide a 1-on-1 caregiver at approximately $800/day in order for him to remain. The $10k loss hurt, for us, that is. What hurt more was moving our father - another battle for his brain to manage, and the lack of attention and compassion he received when he wasn’t the right fit. All due to their inaccurate assessment… apparently we “didn’t tell the right person” that he would need assistance getting from his room to the dining area. Such a disappointing experience.
Dominion Senior Living is a beautiful community. But what makes it special are the people who work there. They care deeply for their residents and it shows. They truly live up to their mission to Honor God through service to seniors. I can’t imagine a better community for your loved one to call home.
Our Dad has been there 3 yrs. Our family would never consider moving him from Dominion. The Director Jackie Smith and her staff are total professionals whom we have great respect for and appreciate the work they do! Folks we had conversations with many members of the healthcare community about seniors care and what that means to our mother at the time a now our father after our mom’s passing. In seeking guidance from doctors, social workers, senior care specialists our heads were spinning at what to look for in consideration of what was best for our father. One comment from most was that no place is perfect, not the most expensive or the least. Not the one with all the bells and whistles or just a basic assisted living facility. They All; have their strengths, weaknesses and specialties. Also it is important to stay connected with the staff, interact with them. We have done that and it fosters good communication on behalf of our dad. It is so easy to do with these folks. So after prayer and armed with a lot of knowledge and information we settled on Dominion Senior Living of Florence KY. We have never looked back and are extremely; happy with our choice as is our dad. I would also add that any business or hospital, or restaurant, etc, you name it, will have issues, from time to time. What defines that organization is how competently and timely they deal with it. The folks at Dominion do that very well. They are problem solvers. So we are very happy there as is our dad with his care. Jackie and her staff are true professionals and we have great confidence and respect in their ability and find it easy to trust our dad’s care to her folks. Check them out if you are considering assisted, personal or memory care for your loved one.
I have been so blessed to be a part of the Dominion of Florence. I have just surpassed 6 years of service, and the journey has been packed with awesome friends and an awesome community. I love daily life—praying together, warming up at the fireplaces, the fun activities, and the delicious snacks! After 23 years in the business, I can testify that this is the Best Place to live and work.
Bait and switch. Sells you on good care then attempts to sell you more services to properly care for the elder they assessed and placed. I would like to know who can afford $6-7k then an additional $25k per month! Terribly disheartening to see this attempt to rob a veteran senior of his entire life’s work. And, they lost him in the facility at one point. Also, their elevator is out of inspection code.
[name removed] was the intake specialist. She was very nice and helpful. Once my mom was in facility she got an UTI very quickly and was sent to hospital and then moved from assisted living to memory care. Days later the staff allowed an unauthorized niece to unlawfully take my mom out of the memory care facility against my wishes. I was the POA for my mom. Needless to say the story is much longer but I was highly disappointed in the staff and Director. The Director left his employment very soon after. Whether he resigned or was fired is unknown to me. I would not refer anyone to that facility ever!
I've toured several facilities and if I have the opportunity I will choose here. It's not just well appointed, the staff give off a very nice vibe. Do yourself a favor and take a tour!
I have a loved one at Dominion. It is a beautiful building, but not run well. Communication is very difficult, especially from staff to staff. If your loved one is here, they will need an advocate checking in on them at least 3-4 times a week. Things fall through the cracks easily. There is a lot of turn over in staff and continuing to get them on the same page is a challenge. Meds have been mistakenly given, falls have occurred when aids are overseeing showers. They mandate a pharmacy in Tennessee that isn't a preferred provider so meds cost more. Showers only given 2x/week. The activities are 40% "self led" and the residents complain of not enough to do, especially on weekends. Most of the senior staff is very kind but they have little interaction with residents. There are nights with no nurse in the building and only 2 aids for 60+ residents, some in memory care. Dominion will promise you a lot when selling you on their place, but once you get in, things change.
All are 5's. no place is perfect, but this is the best around for [name removed] and we would recommend them to other families based on the experience we have had.
I toured several assisted living places before taking my friend to see Dominion of Florence. She was surprised by how nice looking the place is. She moved in August. I have been most impressed with how well the staff seems to work together to resolve any issues, and to get answers to my questions. The interaction between the staff and the residents is what impressed me most when I was looking. It is obvious that kindness is high on their priority list. I didn’t expect 5 star dining, but I have eaten there several times and the food is fine. My friend doesn’t want to participate much in the activities, but oi have watched and the director is cheerful and encourages the residents to have fun.
Dominion of Florence could be honest with family members instead of hiding injuries and illness. Hire the right people and train their staff to deal with dementia.
Wonderful place. Feel very good about family member living there.
This is an excellent retirement community and my father adjusted very quickly and loves being here! The staff is super nice and friendly and he loves the food and the atmosphere! I always enjoying visiting here and there are so many activities planned every day and they really care about thier residents!
My mother in law has been here since the place opened and her sister is now there with her. They are both in their 90’s. The family is happy with the level of care they both have received. The staff is friendly and always welcoming. Highly recommend.
The staff at Dominion of Florence are helpful, patient and kind. The housekeeping is efficient. Communication with the family is good. The move in process was smooth. The meals are of good quality. The facility is gorgeous. Our loved one is very happy.
My mother has lived at Dominion Senior Living for four and a half years and we both love it! The staff is wonderful and cares for her with lots of love. The building is beautiful and her room has everything she could ever want. She has made a lot of great friends over the years and knowing she is happy makes me happy. I wouldn’t want her to be anywhere else! Thank you Dominion family!
Dominion has been home for mom for over 4 years. The entire staff provide excellent care for mom and are always available to help her in any way. They keep her active and involved each day. It it great to see mom in a community she enjoys and is so well taken care of. Thanks to all at Dominion for all you do.
I visited several facilities before deciding on Dominion. From the minute I walked in, I was struck by the atmosphere. I was welcomed - not just by the director, but by the smiles on the faces of staff AND residents. No way you can make that up! I had direct access to the managing staff at all times. The food was good quality and served restaurant style to encourage interaction among the residents. My Dad had to be moved from assisted living to memory care. I would highly recommend Dominion to anyone seeking a safe, clean, caring home for an aging loved one.
There are no words to express my gratitude to Dominion for the excellent care they took of my mother. Every single staff member is professional and courteous and positively delightful. From the first day, they went above and beyond to exceed our expectations. The place is absolutely beautiful, clean and peaceful. Every staff member has an open door and they respond to concerns immediately. I can honestly say I haven’t had a single complaint. I’m so sad my mom had to move on for more intensive treatment due to her disease. I wish she could have stayed the rest of her days. A hundred gold stars to EVERYONE at Dominion!!! Thank you so much for everything!!!
My experience is with Memory Care. The staff are all very kind and thoughtful---and on their toes. There is a lot of personal interaction and I think the residents feel happy and content. My Mom likes the food. Communication is excellent. Move in was smooth and the staff was very helpful. Thank you for making my Mom feel so at home.
Dominion of Florence community needs more staff for number of residents. They need to be better trained on how to approach residents with dementia.
I have a client here and I couldn’t say more wonderful things about this facility. It’s beautiful and the staff are very friendly. The food looks really good as well.
We had an in person tour with Dominion of Florence and overall the community and the tour experience we had was a good one
The other place, went out of their way and made a companion suite to make room at a lower cost. I was very impressed with the place.
My father has been a resident at Dominion of Florence for about 10 months. The entire staff has treated him unbelivebaly well, being very attentive and caring. He at times can be cantankerous, but the aids and the nurses always seem to be able to calm him down. He is 94 years old and needs assistance in various ways and they are always there to help him. Some of the staff have even prayed for my father in person, when he is struggling or has fallen. The entire staff treats our family as if we are their family. I / we would highly recommend Dominion of Florence to anyone who is in need of a care facility of this nature.
When I first walked into Dominion of Florence, it looked like a resort. Not only were the staff members smiling and saying hello, but the RESIDENTS were doing the same! There is great communication with the family. I am greeted by name by the Executive Director. I highly recommend this facility to others. I am so happy with the choice that we made for my Dad.
Dominion Senior Living is a wonderful community!
My mom was only here for a few months, the staff was incredible! The facility is very nice.
This has been an excellent experience for the family and our loved one. The building is clean and beautiful. The staff is friendly and caring. They are very knowledgeable and they are willing to listen to my loved one. There are three meals a day provided and the residents are able to order off a menu. Some of the activities include: exercise, devotions, church services, outings, bingo, salon, and more for the residents to participate in.
Our loved one loves the breakfast and lunch, we are starting to have a few issues with the evening meals but if there every is something our loved one does not like they will offer different options. He doesn't participate in much now but he does enjoy the balloon volleyball. From the very beginning we wanted our loved one here - the community is very open, airy, and has great big windows. It is very welcoming. The staff are very attention and they always pay attention to the residents. The nursing staff is great with taking care of their needs and making them feel comfortable, they are very on top of medication management
This community was very nice and it reminded me of a ski lodge in Colorado. There was a waitlist due to the community have a small population.
We were very impressed with this community but my loved one only stayed for one night. She had to go to the hospital and they told us that we went there that as long as my loved one could assist with transfers that they could take her. However, when she was re evaluated they stated that they could not do assist with moving and that my loved one could not come back even though she was considered a minimal assist. This was frustrating to us due to how much we spent and then my loved one only stayed one night and was told that she could not come back and they had accepted her previously. I think that the independent people do really well but if you need any kind of assistance then this is not the place. I think that the workers that did the assessments were new and not on the same page, they did refund some of the money but that one night ended up costing us a lot. We would have preferred for my loved one to be here but things just did not work out that way. I would recommend this community but it is best if you are independent.
It's one of the nicest places around. They're very caring. The aides and nurses are very good. Initially we had some learning curves, but we're past those now, and they're doing a very good job taking care of my loved one. They also allowed me to put a camera in her room, which was nice. Not because I was concerned about the care, but more so I could see how she's doing daily. She also tends to be picky about food and socializing, and she's partaking of both of those things at Dominion.
We had a really good tour experience with Dominion of Florence. The facility was newer and more modern feeling. Our loved one was deteriorating quickly and we just knew he was going to end up needing more care and assistance than they would be able to provide.
We had a very nice tour at Dominion of Florence. The facility looked very nice. They just didn’t have anything open at the time, and they were farther away for us.
This is a really nice community. They take really good care of the people that reside there. Sometimes communication can be a problem. They have activities like exercise, bingo, music in the evening and they take the residents out for drives around the city.
It is absolutely a five star community, it is truly amazing and the staff is amazing. Our loved one always said he never wanted to be put into a senior care facility, but with this being a newer facility right when you walked it we knew this was the place. He has always been used to an upscale upbeat place, and this looked like a winter lodge in the mountains. The staff was phenomenal. He was on the memory care side and the rooms were amazing. It was like a hotel room with granite counter tops. The staff would eat with the residents during the meals time and they honestly became like family. They do so many things for their residents, they truly go above and beyond to make sure they are always doing something fun, and getting involved. This facility is where you feel you are walking into a five star resort.
I liked Dominion Senior Living of Florence because the care fee was all-inclusive. All the other places have levels of care fees, based on your needs they will charge you this much or that much but with this place since it's all-inclusive you would know what you're going to pay, there won't be any surprises. I only met the admissions person and I like her. She explained what their services were better than the rest of the places I have visited. They had built-in drawers or dressers so you won't have to bring your own dressers for your clothing. This is a smaller community than most but I liked it. It seemed to be spacious and they had 1-bedrooms with balconies although none of them are available, they only had a studio. It's a new place so everything was brand-new. If my friend had lived I would probably have put him there.
Dominion of Florence is hands down the BEST. One of my special WWII loved family member’s were one of the first two residents to move into the memory care. We all feared his transitioning, feared for him. As for change. It’s already extremely difficult for him knowing he isn’t the same as he use to be, but for a new home. Needless, to say we (the family) was wrong. Fear, what fear? He absolutely loves it there. The moment he stepped into the door, he felt like he was at home. The staff, each and every staff member no matter the “position title “ are absolutely the best. In every warm welcoming, loved, caring for, watched over, and engaging way. The well care they receive is top notch. From keeping your loved one safe, loved, clean body and room, well fed, and engaging. There’s always something going on. The food! Never a disappointing meal. Wide variety of selection. If the resident doesn’t wont the menu meal, then they just whip something right up for whatever the residents taste buds are feeling. (That’s important to our WWII Veteran.) They all have dedicated themselves to what we call “a job” but they call “life”. From the warm welcoming feel you feel when walking into the front doors. To the new beautiful, extremely clean (smelling beautiful too) retirement community. My family and I highly recommend this place for your loved one. I really wish they had pictures of the inside of this beautiful community , that some many senior citizens call home so everyone can see the beauty. Again, hands down the best! Also, from what I see - definitely the place for someone who loves seniors to be employed.
There is so much to say overall in regards to what a beautiful place and how amazing the staff members are at Dominion at Florence, always going above and beyond to make sure the residents are well taking care of, the community doors are wide open to welcome anyone that would love to experience a peaceful environment and such incredible people that will do anything to serve the residents with respect and dignity 24/7. Take some of your valuable time to come join us to experience Dominion at Florence!!!
This immaculate facility offers everything you need to make it your "home". Very professional and caring employees! I would trust the staff with ANY of my family members at any given time. A very upbeat and positive community!
