Fern Terra of Owensboro

Facility was only focused on getting my dad transferred out of LTC when he clearly wasn’t healthy nor was he fully competent to make decisions. Fert Terra convinced that even though he wasn’t mobile, that his best alternative was to get an apartment. He moved into an apartment and then had to hire 24/7 care. He had no possessions so he wound up spending $[removed] to get furniture. He did not meet criteria to live independently and Fern Terra knew that, but filling the property was the driving factor, not the health or safety of the residents. No one at Fern Terra ever contacted family members to help intervene. If you have a choice for senior care, don’t consider Fern Terra. While there he fell at least once a week and had to go to hospital.

I have recently started a new career path in the social work field. My experiences with staff at Fern Terra have been exceptional. They show such love and compassion for their residents. It has made me feel compelled to right this review. I’m not typically a reviewer, but they all deserve to recognized for their dedication to the families in our area. It’s truly a facility that believes whole heartily in “this is their home” and treat them with exceptional kindness and care.

Beautiful facility and well maintained inside and out. Staff have been very kind and always helpful. I have spent many Sunday dinners with family in the dining area. The room was gorgeous and the food was great. I’m so thankful to have such a wonderful place that is locally owned and operated. The love they have for the people in this community shows!

Its pretty but has an ongoing staffing availability issue and high staff turnover. There is a lack of kindness and concern. The food is not how its advertised but is frozen heat and serve like a Costco meal. Christmas or special event food is unappetizing and frequently inedible. It started out a nice experience six years ago but has definitely gone down hill. Being able to resolve resident concerns is difficult at best as the person you deal with is not only confrontational but in my experience, ineffective and unable to listen to issues without personalizing matters and lashing out. There is new competition in town-thank goodness. We all hope Fern Terra owners will be more involved, ask questions, be visible and ensure Fern Tera is a place of pride rather than just a place of revenue.
