Reviews
for River Haven Nursing & Rehabilitation
Horrible place to be. Unsanitary practices used. Not wearing gloves or changing gloves! Bloody sheets left for days. Food is a powder base. Nasty! Aids/RN don’t answer call lights. Staff screamed and tried to intimidate me into signing papers!
It takes forever to get meds when regested.
Worst experience ever. My father was in their facility for a few days before I removed him. He had fallen and wet himself and I was yelling for help...no one came at first. After multiple yells someone came and helped. I asked her for TP and towels bc none were in his room and when she didn't come back I walked out...she said haha I'm waiting for closet keys and I went to check on his ambulance and her and 3 other nurses were taking selfies in the lobby.
This place is not a place for dementia people. My dad was not even in there 24 hrs and after one of his episodes got sent back to the hospital.
Short visit, Smelled clean, small place.
So far a horrible experience. Push call button and it has taken an hour for someone to get to you. Aid came to answer call and stated they were busy taking people for a smoke break instead of helping with medical issues. They do not have adequate staffing. Food is ALWAYS cool or cold not even Luke warm. (Think this was because of special diet then I went on regular diet and meals became warm not hot but warmish.) One meal was 4 and 1/2 ravioli with no sauce and very little inside (since been told no sauce was a dietary thing). 3 spoonfuls of mixed veggies and 1 garlic bread. The do not provide drinks (weak tea. Milk or/and apple juice with meals so far) unless activity committee is on site.(Never seen) You can pay $2 for vending machine drink. Some of the staff discussed matters in front of others instead of in private. Nurse ran out of gloves and kerlix and couldn't get in supply room as they don't have access on weekends because them having adequate supplies isn't something deemed important. It has been 5 days of this now and things have gotten worse. Called for a nurse because the previous wrappings had fallen off heel wound again (3rd time in 12 hrs) but she did not come waited 2 hrs then called again she didn't come. After another hour called again and was told I had to wait for a wound care nurse to put a bandage on it. An hour and half later that nurse showed up. All this meant the wound (which is why i am here) was exposed to environmental contaminates and prevented me from going to rehab. They give IV's but do not have the orange caps that go on access ports to keep them clean instead they just reuse the caps i came with over and over. They also stated they will not be getting new caps (which should be replaced each IV med run. Since been told the ordered some.) IV dressing should have been changed Monday yet now it is Friday and still needs changed. Meals are still cold, lack variety and things like blackening bananas served. I can not imagine the long term residents having to suffer through this their entire stay. Management came by room to listen to concerns then proceeded to make excuses for the cold food and seemed to blow off care concerns. Nutritionist stayed took list of likes and dislikes but i am still receiving items off my dislike list and promised variety only comes on receipt but on tray it is the same stuff. (Last seems fixed atm) Sausage was added to breakfast but again cold, bananas were added yet blackening ones show and the apple juice with breakfast is little more than apple flavored water with almost no proper color just water clear with slight tinge. On my intake i brought up beds being too short and my wound hitting on the foot board. They did move me to the other bed in room after I pointed out it was longer. They called maintenance but being weekend was told I wouldn't see them. They showed today to work on bed. There are shared bathrooms among 4 people. The adjoining room made a mess on the floor and staff did wipe it up but they did not clean it. They stated at night they do not have access to cleaning supplies. They came back with wipes and used them on 1/8 of the bathroom floor then left. With an injury on bottom of foot i cannot risk getting something in wound and when I passed that on they looked at me like i was nuts. Wiping with a towel should suffice without cleaning or disinfecting. I have heard of penny pinching but putting a patient's health at risk being cheap is a good reason. In relation to this when cleaning crew does room, they mop bathroom first then go straight into patients room no rinsing of mop. I would NOT recommend this facility based on my experience.
My mother lives here, I’ve called no less than 6 times in the last 4 hours to try and see how she is and they won’t answer their main phone. Is that even legal?
The staff at River Haven are amazing. They took care of my mother & treated her with repect & kindness everyday she was there . These nurses went beyond their duties to keep her comfortable on her last day here with us . They treated us like family .
The employees at this facility are amazing they care for all there residents like family. They have a wonderful therapy room to help the residents get stronger and more independent. Such great facility for all your loved ones needs.
My mother was in this facility on 200 hall for rehabilitation following an orthopedic procedure. She was so well cared for by the nursing and therapy departments. Any concerns we noted during our visits were addressed as soon as we notified the building. She was able to return back home and better than ever quicker than expected. We love River Haven so much!
I wish there was a zero star option cause they don’t even deserve 1 star they are all for the money… they don’t even care for their patients!
My grandma was in their care for 2 ina half months and let me tell you I am in distraught of what I found on her body. As I was taking her a bath I saw the biggest deepest bed soar on her back from not turning her, it look like she was decomposing but still living, not to count the fact that she had bed soars ALL down her body even on her ear and her arms and legs. I can’t believe I even trusted the fact that they would take good care of her but they proved they were just in it for the money. I DONT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE!!
I will never in my life trust another nursing home again. Specially this one. My mom came home with the biggest bed sore on her back. Imagine looking at a decomposed body but on one spot. It was deteriorating fast. On top of that, her bottom feet and hands were so scabbed from dry skin I was picking off shunks at a time. She died 2 days after she came home. I will be taking legal action!
Excellent facility! I came here after hospital for rehab. Everyone on staff, EVERYONE, was amazing! Kind, friendly, and wonderful to be around. My stay was from 3/9/23-4-11-23. OT/PT great! Nursing staff super! The aides and housekeeping wonderful! 😊 If I ever need rehab again I will definitely go here! Thank you guys!! ❤❤❤ Misty aka Misa
if i could give it 0 stars i would. don’t work here and don’t send your loved ones here unless you hate them
I hope no one I know ever has to come in contact with this place again. A loved one passed and we never saw any of their belongings again, and not a thing was done about it.
Inside was dirty everywhere. Our room was a double room. The other bed was laying on floor broken. How to describe this place two words ...disgusting and filthy.
I have a family member in River Haven. River Haven has the safety of the residents in top priority. I have been on different times and days of the week. They are always cleaning! They treat the residents with respect and compassion. They have rehabilitation, assist with bathing, and have activities. I'm very pleased with how they treat my family member.
River Haven is a wonderful facility. The staff are friendly and go out of their way to make sure everything is taken care of. They care about the patients and they treat your loved ones like family.
Love the staff!!
I have seen some very positive changes to the facility!
The staff and extremely friendly. It has been a pleasurable experience. Thank you so much!
Awesome staff and top notch care! Theresa is a great person and loves to make people happy and feel at home.
Great staff. Very clean facility. Highly recommended!
Grand opening was such a good spirited event. Upon walking in the building you could not only see the change you can feel the change in the atmosphere. The urine smell upon walking in is now gone. Going therr to visit a friend years back that was the first thing i noticed. It is now a good enviroment and clean and sanitized. The smiles from staff to residents is tremendously warming. It felt like a home my own grandmother would feel safe and at home away from home. Great job to the entire organization on the great changes for the better of our comnunity. A place u feel at home

I visited this facility just a few weeks ago, it is an amazing facility and would recommend it with highly favor! Amazing staff!!!!
Great staff and very friendly! You can tell they take great pride in the care of their residents. Always very prompt on resident needs and always very quick and attentive to make sure their residents are taken care of!
They have the best therapy and fun activities I've ever seen!
I went to visit a friend and the smell of urine overwhelmed me.i wouldn't put by my poor loved ones there. Plz be smart and check out the nursing home on off hours so you know if go can see what really happens. Like( 5am,10am,5,pm,,
River Haven has the most caring staff I have ever experienced. They do there very best in sometimes what can be very difficult situations while being compassionate to the patient and their family
Worst nursing ever
It's a great place great family
My opinion on this facility is don’t put your loved ones in this facility. They treat the residents and employees poorly. Has an strong earthy smell (BLACK MOLD) as soon as you walk into the facility (They are trying to cover up the fact it’s black mold through out the building.). Residents complain about not having enough food or not correctly cooked food. Widespread illnesses occur frequently. There are only a handful of people there that will listen to the residents about health issues but, nothing would get done until it’s to late. I had to ask why one of my family members were left unattended I got told “ Our boss told us we have to drop everything that we are doing to turn the door alarms off.” That sickens me and nothing was done nor changed when I spoken my mind. I STRONGLY NOT RECOMMEND PUTTING YOUR LOVED ONES HERE AS THIS POOR FACILITY. Need new everything there or to be shut down.
