Sacred Heart Village

That the staff doctor has to approve a Sacred Heart resident before they can be allowed to go to the emergency room. And, if a resident gets sick on a holiday, such as Thanksgiving, they do come in when needed. My mother complained of stomach pain on Thanksgiving eve and Thanksgiving day. The doctor was contacted and stated " I'm not coming in as I'm having dinner with my family". The next day my mother was admitted to the ICU with a severe CDiff infection and went into septic shock shortly thereafter. I believe that the staff of Sacred Heart was partially responsible for my mothers death. Although the nurses were professional and the facility was superb I cannot overlook the way my mothers care was handled. I am posting this in hope that this will not happen to another families love one.

The staff is very good at Mercy Sacred Heart. They respond well to the patients' needs, and they have enough staff to take care of the patients. The food is good. The accommodations are wonderful. They have a courtyard. The rooms are huge. It is a private room with a private bath and two closets.

My mother had a sister that was in Mercy Sacred Heart, plus she was in rehab for hip repair there as well. It was a structured environment. They had music, physical therapy activities, puzzle making, card playing, occupational therapy, speech therapy, and memory therapy. They had the opportunity to go out to eat at different restaurants, entertainment, arts, and theater. Security was excellent.
