Just a kind word of sincere appreciation! My husband and I attended the impressive Sweetheart Valentine Dinner. The open space was cleverly converted to an adorable Bistro, Sidewalk Cafe situation. The servers were attentive and kind. The musical program was outstanding and impressive in the selections presented. To cap the evening, a photoshoot of the red car with white sidewalls provided opportunity to share the occasion with relatives and friends. As 'ancient senior citizens', with an incapacitated situation, I never dreamed my husband and I would share a "date night" again. Sayre's capable, talented staff made one more night possible for us. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

The activities team at Sayre is phenomenal, they offer an extremely wide variety of activities beyond just bingo or crafts. They have musicians come often, they have guest speakers like George Ella Lyon, Ouita Michel, and Michael Johnathan. They have an array of bible studies and spiritual activities to help the residents grow in spirit where they live, and their community outreach events like their fall festival and live nativity are a blast each year!

The activities and entertainment are my favorite. The thoughtfulness of the staff are excellent. Transportation department is excellent, it’s included in your stay!

My grandmother has received amazing care here, the staff is kind and the facility is clean and welcoming. I am very grateful for everything they do!

I like everything about Sayre. They get me to the doctor appointments on time. My room is clean and I enjoy spending time in the evening in my room, because I feel safe.

Unspecified · December 2025

I just recently lost my husband…I really appreciate the extra attention and expressed comments from the staff. It helped me through a tough time that I didn’t know if I would get through with my family alone.

Unspecified · November 2025

It's a very comfortable surrounding, the staff are above and beyond what you would want, and the facilities are clean.

Unspecified · November 2025

I have been here close to a year, and it can be a very beneficial facility for those that need the additional assistance. I think the people here are nice and accommodating. They really help your attitude. The staff here are just fantastic.

Things we are thankful for at Sayre!(friendship Towers) The safety of Fay Fentress, (our mom) The daily kindness from all the staff and extra help that she is given each day. The above exceptional choices of foods. Lisa and I both appreciate being able to have meals with mom, too. Doug, and all the staff are so welcoming and work hard for the residents. Chef and all cooking and serving staff go beyond measure to have great choices of foods. They are friendly and patient. (What a hard job!) Marie and Bella work tirelessly to plan and prepare wonderful activities for all the residents. (Especially focusing on their needs and enjoyment.) Brenda has been a wonderful friend to Fay. Especially in the evenings when administering her medicine. She always makes her feel special and spends her valuable time answering questions. Wesley is such a blessing to us all. It's been difficult over the years getting her to do therapy. She loves and trust Wesley. We appreciate his patience with her. Not to forget Bill and Colleen. The first we see as we walk in the door. Jack Earl, our dog is even welcomed with pats on his head and bones! Leslie has been a source of comfort and is always there for us and our questions. I know I'm forgetting so many that make our lives better and secure. We truly are blessed to have Sayre Christian as our extended family. We've been caregiving for three family members over the past ten years. We have experienced 4 wonderful facililities. We have found that Sayre is home for each of us as a family. Fay loves her apartment. It is always clean. Thank you to those who make sure her living space is clean and healthy. Caregiving is hard on a good day. Thank you, to everyone that make our everyday life more manageable. In Him, Bruce and Lisa Fentress

Friendship Towers, because it is non-profit, puts care, cost and services above all else. Not ruled by corporate profit, and therefore room, board and care rates are among lowest in the area.

Friendship Towers at Sayre Village was just what I needed when I lost all feeling in both feet and hands due to chemo-induced extremeneuropathy. As my feeling slowly returns, the Resident Assistants and dining room servers continue to kindly help me with basic tasks I cannot yet do on my own. They encourage me daily in the progress I’ve made since moving here eleven months ago. The friendships I’ve made with staff and other residents have made my situation so much more tolerable. I’m fortunate to be part of a caring community.

I had lived in this area of town for fifty four years so when I turned ninety years old, I knew this was the place I wanted to end my years. I have my blind twelve year old Maltese with me. He knows his way around the apartment. The apartment is quite comfortable with living room, kitchenette, bedroom and bathroom. I am very happy here!

My mother was a resident at Sayre Christian Village. I think she was in every part and I had absolutely no complaints. She was in independent living. Her apartment was very roomy.. Her medicines were kept in a safe where only myself and aid were able to open it. She also was in assisted living, the nursing home, physical therapy/occupational therapy. We(pt/ot) had meetings to assess her progress. It was great. Then we moved her into memory care. I had absolutely no complaints about her stay there. I recommend Sayre Christian Village and have.

Earlier this month, I attended the Ministry Appreciation Breakfast at Sayre and got to see how local churches are involved. It was great connecting with several ministry leaders I know from the area and hearing about the ways their churches partner with Sayre. The event was a great opportunity to recognize and celebrate the ministry leaders who make such an impact in our community.

Sayre has a welcoming feel and a fun energy on campus. You can tell that the Activities team puts a lot of thought into planning activities that make each day meaningful. There’s always something going on and plenty of ways for residents to stay connected and engaged!

I recommend Sayre to friends and family because Sayre has changed my life! Sayre Christian Village is such a positive, heart-warming, friendly establishment. My experience here has been wonderful. The staff is so friendly, caring, and helpful. The residents are so sweet and it’s fun to bond with them and hear their life stories! I absolutely recommend Sayre to anyone looking for a place for their loved ones or looking for a job! I cannot say enough great things about this place!!

I recommend Sayre to friends and family because, the staff is so friendly. They work hard to make sure all your wants and needs are met.

Why is there not a zero star option? High turnover, perpetually overworked staff, missed orders generally sloppy work. If your loved one is here, I share your pain.

Wonderful place to work.

Update on my previous review. This place has really turned around since the last time I was there (about a month ago). The a/c was working well and it was very hot today so I can tell they fixed it. The rooms looked as if they were deep cleaned and all the floors were shining. The smell was pleasant and there was no longer any odor of urine or feces. Most importantly the staff were very pleasant and were checking on my little lady quite often today! Another important thing I noticed was the residents seemed happier and were up walking around. I am so pleased and feel very comfortable coming more often now. Thank you Sayre for all the changes you made. You really care about the residents and the families complaints and addressed every one of my concerns.

My family is so appreciative of this facility right here in Lexington, KY. There are so many reasons to celebrate this place and the folks that work there. Here are a few: 1. The staff are like family to our loved ones. They genuinely care for their residents and are passionate in their daily interactions. They instill dignity and respect. Even when no-one is looking. Many staff there have been employed by Sayre for not just months, but YEARS. This consistency helps the residents immensely. They are able to build trusting relationships, which means the world to me and all my family. I want to especially thank folks like Monica, Damien, Chrissy, Penny, Karen, Chris, and Bobby. As well as the folks that work the front desk as they are often first impressions of a facility. 2. Sayre is a long term continuum care campus. Ranging from low-income housing for 'matured adults', independent living, memory care to nursing. It's a great place to 'grow old.' 3. Sayre is a non-profit Christian organization. They are ethical, stewards of their finances, and have character. We love our Sayre family!

The personnel that works in there are super friendly, very compassionate and amazing! 5 Stars to them!!! I am giving 4 stars because some little “things” that could be “repaired”. 1) Food could be improved but if not at least served hot (it’s always cold) 2) Front desk: could the attendant there give a call to someone informing that there’s a package or food for a room? If it’s food do it right away? 3) Have someone at the front desk all the time, I am saying after 5pm doesn’t seems there’s no one there and t’s the first “impression” when someone walks in…not an empty place!

Unspecified · June 2024

Wouldn’t send my dog there. Very unprofessional, the management is all a bunch of liars. They do not care about your loved one, they care about doing the absolute bare minimum. On the weekends, there is no one there to help. Please do your research before sending your loved ones there. I do not recommend this place. I wouldn’t send a loved one there if it was the last place on earth.

Update: I stand by the things in the post below. However once I posted it I did receive a call from the administrator of Sayre. She did show compassion and was willing to listen to my side. She was very understanding and did explain some things I was unaware of. Apparently since I left some issues I mentioned have been handled. The administrator did say she would look into my other concerns. I commend her for reaching out to me. This is my original post: This place is awful. The management doesn't care about the aides or Residents. Always understaffed and unappreciated unless the state is in the building. Meals were inconsistent on times they were brought to the floor and food was cold. Residents suffered from poor management and lack of staffing. Resident falls and or injuries were not being reported and swept under the rug so to speak. The work environment was uncomfortable unless you were in the right click. I reported things concerning some of the staff I worked with and the resident care or lack thereof. I was told by the DON I report to much:| There are some amazing aides and a few nurses on unit 1 that made my time there bearable. I would not recommend this place for your loved one's or yourself.

From my experience doing clinicals in the rehab unit I saw a CNA go from patient to patient without washing her hands and I stuck by her side I never saw her wash her hands. The wheel chair one resident had the brakes did not work at all and she’s completely dependent when in it I mentioned it to several people and they just shrugged. People dependent in bed were never turned. The food looked absolutely atrocious yuck I feel sorry for any resident there that has to eat that. This place is supposedly top notch I never saw that one time. One good thing is it doesn’t smell like urine there. They place the dependent people in front of the nursing station or a tv and just leave them it’s so depressing. I smelled poo in many dependent residents for a long time no one changed them yet cnas sitting around on their phones. Just be careful people try and get home care or something with a camera you would probably pay less than here and someone to cook your family member their food you would surely pay less than this place and the residents rooms the beds and things looked so cheap no sunlight in the rooms everyone’s blinds closed very sad place.

Sayre Christian Village is the best place for Jim and me…we’re free to come and go as we’re able but we know there’s help if we need it. There’s always something to do…you can participate as little or as much as you want! There’s plenty of food and it’s tasty! It is what you make it and we have chosen to make it great!!!

When you first walk into Sayre Christian Village, it's like a hospital. It's not home-like. It's a multi-story. I think that makes a little bit of difference too. From the outside, the upkeep was very nice. It's an older building. When we got into the skilled nursing tour part, the rooms were very small. They were very dark. There were two people in a room, and my friend would have had to be in a room with someone else for at least a year and a half before she would get to a room by herself. So, that was just a no-go from the beginning. The person who did the tour was very good, very accommodating, and answered all of our questions. He was good. The dining room was very small and was not well-lighted. It didn't hit me as a happy place. I didn't see any activities going on, but he gave us a list of things that they do, and they have quite a list of things. We talked to the activities director there as well.

Sayre Christian Village Nursing Home is a much larger facility. I last visited this place in November of last year. My sister-in-law was there for four years. For the most part, the nurses did a good job, but they were overworked and short-staffed sometimes. That part of that was during COVID, and they had to bring people out from outside, but the ones who were regulars and who knew the patients did a great job. The facility itself was kept clean. The people at the front desk were very nice. The people that I worked with like the hairdressers and that kind of thing were very good. They were very good with patients. The food was okay.

Daddy was taken to Sayre in May our first choice by the way. The staff was exceptional and he was extremely satisfied. I would drop in sometimes in the middle of the night or through the day and he was always being taken care of. This has to be the best care facility in Lexington I highly recommend Sayre for the great care for my dad and our family as well I would call several times a day and they would always be able to answer any questions I had. Thanks for everything.

We recently moved my mom to Sayre Christian Friendship Towers. The experience was wonderful from beginning to end. We were given a tour and Lesley was very helpful answering all our questions. On move in day, everyone was so kind and helpful. There are lots of activities to choose from. Mom likes the music and worship. She also enjoys the Bingo. The food options are endless and all very well prepared. The service in the Bistro and the dining room are outstanding. I would highly recommend it. By the end of the day there is no worry about sleep as she is worn out from all the activity during the day. We are so pleased with every detail.

I had a family friend live at this facility and they were very happy here. Everyone seemed to genuinely care about the residents and about their jobs. I would be happy to recommend this facility to anyone. They always have something going on and offer a variety of activities. They also have a fulltime facility chaplain who holds a service every Sunday for those that want to attend.

My mother (soon to be 100 years of age) entered Sayre Friendship Towers (Assisted Living) in August 2017. She will say, several times a week, that she is enjoying and still living the 'best of life' due to being at Sayre. She enjoys the employees (they're the best), the activities (up lifting and fun), the delicious meals and treats (well-balanced and tasty), her many new friends (residents and volunteers), and the safety of 24 hours of fabulous care. Thanking Sayre for being the very best care for our dear mother.

Unspecified · June 2023

I am where I was supposed to be an I knew it from day one. I would highly recommend it and the staff love what they do. It's the top in my book as far as assisted living. I have also had family on the same campus. Activities are superb and I commend them. We have wonderful people who come and entertain us.

Unspecified · June 2023

You couldn't find a better place. The staff are so good and take such good care of you. It is a wonderful place. I do not attend many activities because I enjoy staying in my room but there is a wide variation of things offered. I stay in a 2-bedroom apartment here and get to live with my family member.

Unspecified · June 2023

It is a great place and we go lots places. The food is good, care is good. There are different activities offered like birthday parties and bingo.

Unspecified · June 2023

The staff that work with my resident are very caring, professional, and overall wonderful. The food selection is varied and receives positive reviews from my resident. The food staff works hard to honor special requests. My resident just wishes there was bread with the meals. There are activities almost every day. My resident's physical situation makes it hard to participate. It would be nice if there were some activities on their floor. I am pleased with the quality provided for the cost of living there.

Unspecified · June 2023

I visit the facility often to see a friend and it is a wonderful place. There is always something to do and no one feels alone. The staff are so friendly and accommodating to everyone.

Unspecified · June 2023

I have had family here for 16 years. The apartments have a larger square footage than most in the Lexington area, including a kitchen. There are a variety of activities for all residents to choose from if they wish. The dining area is beautiful with an option to dine outdoors. Food is good. Staff are friendly and very caring. Staff will go out of their way to make sure that residents are cared for. Good value for cost.

Unspecified · April 2023

My mother called to see if she qualifies, she is on Medicaid and she was told she does not qualify. So why does it have on the website that they accept Medicaid and Medicare but yet she is Denied??

Unspecified · March 2023

My wife moved into Sayre Christian Village Nursing Home. It is a very comfortable place, very clean, and very organized. The staff does an excellent job. Always went well, with no problems. They do bingo. They do painting, coloring pictures, and various activities that older people would be involved in. They have a dining room, or you can eat in your room, whichever, and they have a diet adapted to the requirements of the person. The food that I've tasted is good.

Unspecified · February 2023

I visited Sayre Christian Village - Friendship Towers Assisted Living, and it's quite nice and clean. It had been through a complete overhaul, so it looked very beautiful. We just looked at the studio room, and it was nice. The staff was fine for the tour. I don't have anything bad to say about it. For us, it was a little bigger. I think it would have been difficult for my mom because she uses a walker and it's a little more difficult for her to get around. They had a hair salon, a laundry room, a dining room, and a cafe where you can get something to eat pretty much all day and late into the evening if you want.

Unspecified · February 2023

Extremely disappointed by the care provided here. Does not follow dietary restrictions for residents. As you can imagine this causes many health problems. Night staff on the weekend is very rude and will complain to residents when they are just trying to breathe and sleep well. Employees should not make paying residents feel guilty for asking employees to do their job. These problems have been ongoing and have not been addressed. Please save your time and energy and choose another home for your loved one. They will not take care of them here.

Unspecified · December 2022

I toured Sayre Christian Village. It's a huge compound. It was wonderful. It was a beautiful place. There was a waiting list, and I can see why. It's extremely nice, and they're a nonprofit center. The cost was about right up there with everything else. The facility was bright. They were decorating for Christmas. They have volunteers over there all the time. They come from all over to make the place nice. The rooms have full kitchens. They're very nice rooms. The staff were extremely nice. They were wonderful. It's gorgeous.

My Dad has been a resident at SCV for about two years now. The staff are friendly and helpful to both residents and family alike. There’s no one else I would trust with my loved one other than Sayre.
