Reviews
for The Lantern at Morning Pointe Alzheimer's Center of Excellence, Danville
Wonderful experience working with Vicky to make a transition smooth during admission.
We started the search of the best and closest possible facility for my wonderful Aunt whom was recently diagnosed with dementia. We tried to keep her home with us for 6 months and quickly realized for her happiness and safety it would be best to find a memory care facility. We spent days visiting every local facility and the cream rose to the top very quickly! The simple truth is none of the other places near us compared to MP. We found them to have the best facilities and that isn’t even the best part. The staff is beyond our expectations is so many ways. From the intake staff Vicki to the activities director Nicole! And the head of nursing Shauna along with all of the rest of the incredible staff we cannot imagine her anywhere else. We hope this holds true for the many years to come as our loved one might have to remain in this wonderful place. We get multiple updates via email and personal texts from the staff about our family member monthly. In person visits are always met with open arms And the biggest sign that this is a great place is the fact that my Aunt loves it here and doesn’t want to leave! They have wonderful commutation along with support group opportunities monthly. A true blessing for our entire family.
Vicki was GREAT! Gave us the tour of the facility AND took time for the residents (and knew every name) as they approached us, we loved that and it knew my brother was in good hands.
Wonderful experience moving my grandmother in. Vicky Condit helped make the transition so effortless. So happy she has a safe place with excellent caregivers and so many activities. The place looks like a luxury resort. The meals are delicious. I can’t say enough wonderful things.
Morning Pointe provides person-centered and family-oriented care in their Lantern division. They are attentive to residents’ cognitive and emotional needs throughout the day. We have thoroughly enjoyed our time with our loved one while visiting there, where we feel included like a true community. Although the situation is delicate and stressful at times, staff members are exceptional at redirection and de-escalation. Shoutout especially to Erica, Talitha, Tara, Amanda, Bobby, Danielle, Tanya, Shauna, Crystal, Barbara, Amanda, the kitchen staff, and of course Theo the cat for their amazing dedication to the residents. (Sorry if I misspelled any names :) )
This assisted living facility is beyond FABULOUS!!! I can’t say enough positive comments about the staff!! My mother’s memory issues have gone from probably 20-25% to a good 80% since being here!! It’s amazing how being with other people her age, with similar issues, has helped tremendously!!! Thank you so much Vickey for not being pushy and assisting with my mothers and my needs! It’s so stressful trying to find the best fit for your elderly parent! This place is THE BEST
We are blessed to have found Morning Pointe for our family member. Vickey has been a God-send to our family. If you are looking for a memory care place for your loved one…. Look no further!! The staff is wonderful, compassionate, and attentive!!
I met Vickey Condit at a support group meeting which Morning Pointe hosted for caregivers. She was kind and listened and was very knowledgeable about the difficulties I was facing caring for my husband. After that meeting I arranged a tour of the facility. I was an emotional wreck but Vickey took my hand, answered every question I had and stood by me as I made the most difficult decision of my life. My husband was admitted to Morning Pointe on a Friday. He was angry, combative and determined to get out of there as quickly as he could. Vickey took complete control of the situation. She talked to him, held his hand, asked about his life and family and sat by him silently for hours when he refused to talk. She texted me with updates on what was happening, sent pictures and kept assuring me that she had been through this with others and that it would all work out. And eventually it did. The last three months have not been easy for my husband and me but Vickey has stayed close to both of us. She knows how to deal with my husband when he is agitated and begging to come home and is always there for me when I am down and need some encouragement. I consider her a true friend and someone I can trust. The dementia journey is hard, to say the least. Vickey truly cares about every family she meets and is committed to helping them any and every way she can once their loved ones come to Morning Pointe. She knows her job and she knows how to love people who are hurting, She is a blessing to my husband and to me.
Dad is doing well at Morning Pointe. He is feeling better and he has improved. He has been making friends and he is kidding around with the staff. I have received good feedback from the staff about his status and I am pleased with his care so far.
My family is greatly impressed with the amazing staff at Morning Pointe! Everyone helped to ease our family member's transition to long term care. We can not recommend them enough!
Dear Lantern Staff, The family of Drexel Dorris wants to convey the highest praise possible for the care provided to our dearly departed Drexel. In late December of 2024 the Dorris family was faced with a real emergency to place Drexel in an appropriate medical care facility. The Lantern Memory Care unit at Morning Pointe in Danville presented itself as an excellent, convenient option, and accommodated our needs in a most efficient and expeditious manner. The 40 plus days that Drexel was a resident in the absolutely best environment there could be for his final days on this earth, and that anywhere else would have fallen short of the superb care administered by The Lantern staff. The entire staff from the front office, receptionist, nurses, cook/kitchen staff, program coordinator, and care aides were very professional, compassionate, attentive, respectful, and most of all loving. Drexel’s wife, Faye, and sisters Aprile Hunt and Jo McCormick have stated on numerous occasions that “The Lantern” memory care unit is without question the best place one could have a loved one that needs the particular skills set that The Lantern offers the public. All Lantern employees approach their responsibilities with the attitude that clients are treated as though they are family. It is important to note that Drexel’s experience was not unique at The Lantern, because for over 40 days our family witnessed attentive, compassionate care to all residential clients. The Lantern is truly an Alzheimer’s Center of Excellence. Our family frequently communicated to the staff just how much their attention to detail, attitude, and service was appreciated. We were privileged to experience a loving expression of service before self. Interaction with Drexel was not limited to procedural timeliness, but included care and concern that comes from the heart and exceeded our expectations. Out of respect for all Lantern staff and caregivers and not wanting to omit anybody we will not highlight names of those who provided the highest level of care, but close by lifting up all Lantern employees as gifts from God. THANK YOU! Very Respectfully, Howard P. Hunt III & Aprile Hunt Brigadier General, USAF, (ret)
Today was the first time I had been in there. It was very nice and updated. The staff was absolutely amazing. The residents were very clean, happy, and taken care of. What a blessing!
A caring place to have a love one. The staff and administration are the best of the best. I would recommend memory care “The Lantern” Danville to any one. We had my wife at The Lantern, Lexington, which was bad experience for my family due to weak administrative skills which included the director and head of nursing. Danville Lantern is just the opposite, OUTSTANDING!
Taking great care of the ones we love.
Lived there for 6 months now.
Morning Pointe was our choice when it was no longer safe for Dad to live alone. The facility is welcoming and cheerful; the meals (of which I have eaten frequently) are healthy and delicious with several choices at each meal; and the entire staff is attentive and supportive to making the residents feel comfortable and at home. There are plenty of activities for residents to engage in such as crafts, Bible studies, music interactions, exercise classes, movies, and outings away from the building. I feel very comfortable that my dad is being well taken care of when I can’t be with him and I know the same care is given to all the residents. If you’re looking for a place for a loved on, be sure to check out Morning Pointe in Danville.
One of the things I like about Morning Pointe of Danville is the time and attention the staff give the residents. Example: I visited another facility and a staff member walked by and said "how are you doing?" She continued to walk- not waiting for my response! At Morning Pointe, they stop- look at us- and listen to our response. It shows us that they care- I like that!
I highly recommend Morning Pointe of Danville! I have had the privilege to volunteer here for over a year now and it has been such a blessing to my life. The residents are truly respected and treated with the greatest care and love. The place is beautiful and the staff is very thoughtful of the residents. All of us volunteers and staff love these precious residents with all our hearts, and I have heard nothing but good about Morning Pointe!
So many wonderful things to say about Morning Pointe of Danville, but I will keep it short. My grandmother moved to Morning Pointe a little over 2 years ago. Although, she was reluctant to leave her home, a stroke left her unsafe to be alone. Morning Pointe embraced her with open arms. Tabitha made move in as smooth & as effortless as possible. She made sure my grandmothers room was perfect & as close to home as she could get it. They went above & beyond to make sure her (many) needs were met & she was comfortable & as happy . As her final days approached, Shauna & her amazing team did everything they could to make it doable for her to be home for those final days & hours. She passed peacefully in the comfort of her room & thats exactly how she wanted it. Morning Pointe was her home. Her friends that became family meant the world to her. The residents & their shining, smiling faces when you enter are a clear reflection of how spectacular this facility is. Thank you Morning Pointe for loving my family & providing the best care one could find. If you're looking for a place to call home, a place where you feel you belong, Morning Pointe is waiting.
My mom moved to Morning Pointe in Danville in May of 2023. It’s has definitely been a journey for her and our family. She left a home where she had lived and we had made many family memories there through the years. It was getting to the pointe where she did not need to be home alone. So we started looking and this just felt like “home” to us. A room was available and we took it. My mom was not happy about this at first , but as time passed she became more and more comfortable and “happy “ and I give the staff at Mornjng Pointe the credit for that. They were so kind to her and so helpful in every way. From the front door to the back and everywhere in the middle the staff is always willing to step in and help with anything. I am so thankful that she is there because I know she is safe and taken care of. Thank you Morning Pointe for taking such good care of my mother💞
My mother has been at Morning Pointe in Danville since May of 2023. This has been a journey for her to say the least. Leaving her home of 60 years was very hard for the entire family but especially her! The staff at Morning Pointe is always willing to step in for whatever need she has. My mother tells everyone that if she can’t be home this is a great place to be. I think the entire family feels the same way ♥️ Each and every staff member… from the front door to the back door and every where in the middle is friendly and always happy to help out in anyway they can. I’m thankful my mother is there
Our mother has found her second home at Morning Pointe in Danville, Ky! We could not be more happy with the care, kindness and security she has experienced! Thank you, Morning Pointe, for providing the best care!
We have been so fortunate that our mom has received the best care while at Morning Pointe the past 4 years. The staff has always been friendly and attentive to mom’s needs every day . They have shown care and compassion in dealing with the mood changes of a patient with mild dementia. We have received calls from them to keep us updated on mood changes, times when she is upset and they know mom may just need us to come up there. We never hesitate to ask anything of them and they never hesitate to call us as they need to. Thank you to all the great staff for going above and beyond! We see you making a difference!
2 unacceptable incidents at Morning Pointe of Danville Assisted Living in Kentucky: I have been assigned to care for a client at Morning Pointe. On 1/15/23 @ 7:30pm, I observed a facility staff member abuse my client in the quick and careless manner in which she removed her nightgown, causing her to yell out in pain, to which the staff replied, "It’s a necessary evil.", as she continued. We then changed her chuck and brief, as she had leaked through her brief to the fabric chuck below. As soon as the staff left, I apologized to my client for the harsh treatment. Then I immediately went to the nurse’s station to report the incident to 2 nurses. Shortly after returning to calm my client, the blonde nurse returned with the perpetrator and confronted me in front of the client, whom I stood up for. The staff member lied, saying she told the client she was sorry after she yelled, when in fact she didn’t. I have never in my career seen a client treated so roughly. They left, but shortly after, the nurse returned to ask me why I didn’t change the wet sheet. I asked the nurse if the staff member knew the sheet was wet, why not inform me so we could change it at the same time. I checked and the sheet was wet. So, the nurse and I had to roll the already upset client again as we changed it. (I tried to toss the bed remote onto the chair on the other side of the bed, but it got snagged on the pillow and fell between the chair and wall, which upset the nurse who had difficulty reaching it. I apologized and offered to get it, but she was finally able to retrieve it and lower the client’s head.) I provide my personal scrubbing wipes (since the facility will not provide any) to clean the air mattress below. I then reported the incident to my office. At the beginning of every shift at Morning Point, I get some gloves from the staff station and use my own scrubbing wipes to clean all client room door knobs, light switches, tables, chairs, remotes, door edges, sink knobs & countertop, toilet knob & seat. I do this here because every single staff person and nurse that I have observed changing and cleaning the client’s perineal area, urine, and fecal matter use only one set of gloves! Then with the contaminated gloves, they put on the clean brief, adjust her blankets and oxygen tube on her nose and face, raise the bed, using the remote with the unsanitary gloves, turn off lights, touch door handles and/or door edge BEFORE removing the only set of gloves they used. Then I have to go along behind them, each time and use my scrubbing wipes to clean everything again. At some point during every night shift, a staff member walks up and down the halls with one long spray of Lysol along the hallway walls / doors and that is their extent of "sanitizing". They don’t clean the backs of door handles or wipe anything. Last night, 1/30/24, the same staff member that hurt my client previously was working, so when my client needed changing, I asked a nurse for help when she had a chance. I moved the trash can next to the bed, had the new brief open and ready and went to the far side of the bed to start cleaning her. I was doing it myself as the nurse seemed busy. I had cleaned her in front and had turned her on her side to do the rest, when the nurse showed up to "help". She removed the dirty brief and ignored the accessible trash can, instead, putting it in the chair I was obviously using! I bit my tongue, as I felt this nurse wanted a confrontation. She continued to wipe the client’s backside, putting the contaminated wipes in my chair! I felt a little nauseous, very angry, shook my head and said nothing. After attaching my side of the brief, I immediately went around, removed the dirty brief and wipes from my chair and cleaned the chair, in front of the nurse. Then I changed my gloves and adjusted my client’s pillow, bed and blanket. I take this as a personal affront and as [workplace] harassment. Everyone else has been helpful, kind and professional. But after this incident, I will not be returning to Morning Pointe for any client care.
My family feels incredibly fortunate to have found Morning Point. Living miles away from our father, the distance has always been a concern, but this place has truly been a blessing. The care and attention our father receives is beyond expectation. The Morning Pointe staff are professional, compassionate, and genuinely dedicated to my father’s well-being as well as the other residents. They go the extra mile to make sure everyone feels at home. The communication with the nursing staff has been outstanding, keeping my brother and I in the loop about his daily activities and frequent health updates even beyond the scheduled calls. It brings us peace of mind knowing he is in such capable and caring hands. The facility itself is well-maintained, clean, and designed with comfort in mind. My first impression walking in was seeing smiling faces and feeling the warmth of the fireplace and its hearth, it just made it immediately cozy. It reminded me of the home I grew up in. My father’s girlfriend has made his apartment into a home with his furniture and all his favorite and most memorable things. The variety of activities and amenities offered ensure that there's always something engaging, promoting a sense of community. My father has lost most of his hearing, so they have really learned how to talk and communicate with him and make him feel special and taken care of. We can't express enough gratitude for the support Morning Pointe provides. It has truly become a second home for our father, and we rest easy knowing they are not just cared for, but cherished. If you're searching for a place where your loved one can thrive, even from a distance, this is the place. Highly recommended!
Morning Pointe helped our family out at a very difficult time. The staff was compassionate, helpful, knowledgeable and so wonderful to work with. We will be forever grateful!
I have been volunteering with Morning Pointe for almost a year now, and it has been one of the most encouraging environments I've experienced! The staff make every effort to assist the residents in their homes and to support their well-being. I can always count on seeing the same smiling faces every time I walk in there. It's very evident the Lord is using this place as a safe and loving home for the residents there. I'm very thankful to be a part of it!:)
Morning Pointe is a beautiful place and since moving my dad in we couldn't be happier. He has his own apartment so he feels like he still has the privacy he needs but if he needs help they are there to help in any and every way. The staff from the the top to bottom are all extremely nice and caring. There is always a smile on their face whatever they are doing. I get calls whenever it is needed, such as letting me know my dad has fallen whether he needs medical care or not. It is a great place and I am so happy we found this gem.
My parents love Morning Pointe and so do I. The staff have gone above and beyond to care for them. They always call with any concerns and just to check in with me.
Its never easy having to move a loved one into an assisted living facility with Memory care, but the staff at Morning Pointe have been simply AMAZING. They know what they're doing, have taken outstanding care of my mom and she's loving it there. We cant thank Morning Pointe enough for all that they've done and continue to do. Highly recommend!
Morning Pointe has been home to my parents for almost a year. They looked at a couple other places before moving in but quickly decided this was the place. The facility is beautiful and well maintained. The entire staff is friendly and caring. There have been a couple medical emergencies with my parents where the staff responded quickly and correctly. They also informed me promptly of the situation. When I call the front desk, or any of the staff members, they know me and are willing to assist. We feel like Morning Pointe is home and the staff is family. My parents are very happy there. I very strongly recommend Morning Pointe of Danville.
Well this is an awesome facility..all the staff are truly amazing !!! Can't say enough good bout them ..I know this first hand !! ..I would definitely recommend this to a family member if needed ...it is a beautiful building I love the layout it's also beside a beautiful park where some will walk there for the peace fullness an beauty ..the residents are just so sweet you can't help but love them ☺️!!!!!!.Thank you morning pointe of Danville for the opportunity I have being on staff with you to work you an feel at home your amazing !!!
My sister is in Morning Pointe of Danville. It's a beautiful building with beautiful rooms, but their food service is lacking and they don't have an operator after a certain hour in the evening, which makes it complicated to reach staff. If you had an emergency, it makes it difficult to be able to notify them or check on somebody that there might be an issue or problem. I was not pleased with the operator they have on dayshift. Some of the staff were unfriendly and not helpful. The caliber of the food was not consistent and it wasn't cooked well. I understand from my sister that they have a large turnover in staff there. During COVID, it's been bad because they don't take them anywhere really nice. They told my sister that they would take her to her medical appointments, which sometimes they do, sometimes they don't. She has a large bathroom, but the showers leak badly and the shower curtain doesn't keep the water in. It should be built up higher. The design of the shower is very poor. She has a bedroom with a TV and a TV in the living room as well. She has a little kitchenette.
If you are looking for an assisted living community this is it. Very clean environment and the best staff around. Beautiful building that feels more like home than a "facility"
Felt right from the start! My dad needed extra help with his medications and with bathing. He wasn't eating very well at home and forgot to take his pills often. Morning Pointe has a nurse to give his pills and other staff to help him during the day. We toured 1 other place and felt that my dad would be happier at Morning Pointe. He is doing so good and we are very thankful for everyone at Morning Pointe.
Our first choice! We just experienced the difficulty decision to place my mother in Senior home. It was so very hard, but Morning Pointe made this process very easy. We are very satisfied with the care she is receiving. I am amazed at the care and compassion that all the staff shows! My mother is being taken care of and my family feels much better now!
Great visit and enjoyed a nice lunch. The staff was very friendly and attentive. I toured the building and liked the design of the building. The apartments are very nice and plenty of room.
The best decision we have made for our dad. The apartment is nice and they even provided furniture, which made the move alot easier. The price is very reasonable and the place is really clean. The building is very welcoming and the staff are very friendly too!
Morning Pointe of Danville is a great place with a caring staff!! Our family has been so blessed knowing how well my mother is being taken care of. My mother has made many new friends and has connected with some of her old friends! She is very happy and couldn't ask for a better place for her to call home!
Stay away! Care more about money than clients! We recently had to move our mother back to NC on an urgent basis. Our car was full and we asked if we could leave a small tv and a wall hanging until we returned( 5 days). Multiple people said "no problem".Morning Pointe charged us the full amount $210.00 per day($1050.00) until we picked the items up. Now they say "that is our policy". These items could easily have been put in a broom closet, thrown out, or they could have reached out to us.

My aunt has been there since Oct. We looked at other places but Morning Pointe surpassed everyone else. Great staff! Very reasonable and it's well worth the money! The building is beautiful! The love and care everyone shows us is amazing! 5 stars!
My brother and I just recently took a tour and was very impressed!! Staff was very nice and friendly. We loved the size of the apartments and really liked that it is one level. We will be moving my father in soon! The place felt like home and family!
Excellent place! I'm very pleased with my mom's care and couldn't think of a better place for her to be. Everyone is very friendly and always willing to help. The ed was very informative of everything when we moved my mom in. She went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable with our decision. The place is beautiful and kept clean. I would recommend anyone that is looking to check this place out!
Hands down Morning Point is the best place around! My brother and I felt very good about moving my mother to Morning Point. Our initial tour was overwhelming but the staff helped to ease our worries. We brought my mother back to visit and she fell in love with the room and staff. I was taken back a little by how friendly everyone was! I have learned as the months pass, it's genuine. From day 1 the staff has been amazing! I do think they could use more help. My mom is cared for and her needs are being met, but I see so much of the staff running around trying to get it all done. The management team steps in and helps as well. I honestly could not ask for a better place! We looked around and compared different places and Morning Point was the winner by a long shot!
Morning Pointe of Danville was one floor, which made it easier and more accessible for my dad. My visit was very nice. They were wonderful to work with. It's a newer facility, so it's a little bit brighter and more appealing. The place was beautiful, but the price point was a little higher. We looked at an enclave, which had a room and a sitting area, and was a little bigger than a studio.
Great place! My wife and I have been looking in the Danville area, for my aunt to move. We went to several places and found Morning Point to be exactly what we were looking for! The price is reasonable and it's well worth it! Staff is very friendly and attentive!
Enjoyed our visit and found the staff to be very friendly and helpful! The decor was beautiful and very welcoming. The rooms are spacious and the closets are huge! We like the fact that there is always a nurse available! The price was very surprising and reasonable!
Excellent place, new, modern, clean, friendly,
