Reviews
for The Lantern at Morning Pointe Alzheimer's Center of Excellence, Frankfort
The Lantern at Morning Pointe of Frankfort has a fantastic memory care program! Residents enjoy activities from music and pet therapy to cooking club to spontaneous dance parties!
The Lantern has gone through some changes recently. The new administration has incorporated features the residents love. More activities, a hydration station and a cute pet station. The dining room was recently renovated and looks fabulous. Menu’s on the table help remind the sweet residents what they are eating. My sweet Mom even recognized the changes and points them out to me. We are so very grateful for everything the Lantern offers.
My family is so grateful for the Lantern at Morning Pointe in Frankfort! Consistent, thorough, and compassionate care is their ‘thing’. People in memory care require much more attention and patience, and they realize that. When both of my parents needed a lot more care than my brother and I could handle, I feared that no one else really could either, at least to my satisfaction. It is not cheap to live there, but some day, safe, dignified personal care in one’s advanced years will be available to all who need it. It was particularly challenging to choose a long term care home during the 2020 pandemic- no tours! Another complication- who would take both parents, and let them be ‘roommates’? Their needs differ somewhat, can staff people keep track? Yes! It’s such a reassurance to know there is always a nurse on site, and that they have lots of other medical resources. SO many services can happen right there on site. In addition to the checks going on behind the scenes, it’s the people that make it a home. My parents LOVE all of the staff people (& affiliated agencies’ professionals). They do sweet things like cards, balloons, extra attention on birthdays. Occasionally a nurse or aide will volunteer to style the ladies’ hair. Though Morning Pointe cannot officially offer a celiac diet, the Food Service Director takes great precautions to keep my mom from getting wheat sick. Before we found the Lantern, my mom was in another care home for post-hospital ‘rehab’. Instead of rehabilitating, though, she declined drastically. Though pandemic lockdown isolation was largely to blame, she ‘aged’ into a sad and different person. Then, The Lantern’s creative Covid work-arounds and sweet staff people gave me my real mom back to me. She’s nearly 5 years older than when at the Other care home, but still in much better shape! ‘ Though staff members change over time, everyone who works there, or via a partner organization is kind, and just amazing. Always. Since 2020, The Lantern has been saving my brother and me from a LOT of stress and worry. Thanks to an every member of the Morning Pointe Lantern team/family, my dear parents are still here, happy and well.
Excellent Care, Amazing Staff, Very Clean, Nurses kept me informed and were very caring for my dad.
Apartment 141 at Morning Pointe became my parents’ home beginning in 2019. I cannot say enough about the loving, caring staff there who helped to make it their home, and surrounded them with encouragement and affection. My parents got to stay together, even as the challenges of dementia would have separated them in most situations. I know the new occupants of apartment 141 will be just as blessed.
My siblings and I had lunch with our sister Margaret Cottle last Wednesday and The Lantern pulled out all the stops! They set a beautiful table in a private room for the 9 of us and fed us an amazing meal!!! If they treat us like this, I can only imagine the care they give to our sister. Thank you, staff of The Lantern, for treating us like royalty!
The people at morning point are caring , kind and sweet. And always ready to help somebody. I know that when my parents get older. I need a place like this. I know where i'm gonna send them.
Very caring staff and a great place for your loved one that has Dementia. I would recommend this community to anyone looking for Senior Living care.
This place has the best team and is so amazing! Lisa makes the community feel like home and is so caring! I couldn’t think of a better place for my loved one!
Love the staff and the residents!
Very caring staff, clean community, and great company to be apart of
The Lantern at Morning Pointe of Frankfort is a very, very nice facility, especially if your family has dementia. They have a doctor on site. They have a hair salon, they have a podiatrist there, they do a lot of activities and they have a chef on staff. I only saw one room, but it was a nice size room. It's a very clean facility. It's all private pay so it's a little expensive for us. It is a very nice place and the people we talked to were very nice. They were doing an activity with a basketball, they had music going and the people were cheering. I would take my dad there if we had that kind of money, but it was a little pricey. The staff who gave the tour was very nice.
This community is a place where your loved one who suffers from dementia is able to THRIVE. The staff ensures that your loved one will receive the highest quality of care allowing them to age in place longer. The activities are so unique, the apartments feel like home and the staff treats my loved one like they are family. There is no better community in Frankfort or surrounding counties that are able to provide this with Alzheimer’s and Dementia better than Renea Gartland the Executive Director at the Frankfort Lantern. My only regret is not getting our loved one there sooner.
My husband is at The Lantern at Morning Pointe of Frankfort. The nurses and aides that work there are more on their toes and are more aware of what my husband is doing than what they knew over where he was for five weeks. They've been good. He gets three meals and snacks, and he is getting his medication on a regular basis. He is getting physical and occupational therapy and a little bit of speech therapy. The only way you can see him is through a visual visit because we are not allowed in through the front door because of Covid. It makes it hard not just to the family, but to the person that is in there. When he falls or if he is having an agitated morning, they'll call me and see if I can calm him down. They've been very helpful not just for us but for him. He does not know where he is; he always thinks he is in a local motel. The other day, he told me that they were keeping him in jail. From what I can see virtually, the room comes furnished with a bed, a night table and a chair. They prefer you bring your own stuff, but they have access to stuff people leave there, so they took care of all that. They even picked him up from the hospital. They've been friendly and nice, and they've been good to him. They call me if he falls or has a bad morning. The only complaint I have is that it is too expensive. He is very picky, but he enjoys the food.
We recently moved my mother n law to the Lantern because her dementia had worsened and she needs 24/7 care. I have to say Mariah Curry has been really good with the family and most importantly educating us with Dementia. She took care of everything for us and the Lantern is very lucky to have her. She spent a lot of time helping us navigate through this process. I feel my mother n law will be loved and cared for at the Lantern. Thank you Mariah we appreciate you very much.
The staff is incredibly friendly, They make families feel like family. They are very welcoming. The food is good. The layout is great and accessible. The room size is nice. They have an outdoor enclosed garden area, with raised box gardens and vegetables. We have been happy there.
Morning Pointe takes excellent care of my patients. I am a physician in the area, and have many patients there. The staff cares greatly about the residents. They alert me immediately of any issues with my patients. Outstanding facility.
Making the transition to a care facility for a loved one is very difficult! The staff at The Lantern at Morning Pointe have assisted in leading us through this transition. They have been compassionate, caring and professional throughout! The facility provides a very safe environment while giving the family and resident of feeling of "home" and the ability to enjoy indoor activity and wonderful meals as well as a beautiful outdoor area to enjoy fresh air, sitting on the patio and gardening with supervision and safety. The resident rooms give the family a feel of a hotel making it more soothing for the resident. Many thanks to this wonderful facility and staff!
This place is not what it’s advertised to be or what it appears on the initial visit. Moving my mother here was a huge mistake. She needed assistance because of dementia after my father passed. I thought this would be a good place for her. I was so wrong. She was almost never clean and stayed wet. I asked why they weren’t helping her bathe and they told me she told them no when they asked. I told them she needed help because she had dementia! All they had to do was talk to her. I asked how long it had been and they had let her go for 7 days! My mother was so particular about her appearance all her life. They didn’t clean her room. I asked why her room was so filthy and they told me the person who cleans quit 2 weeks ago and they had no one to do it! My husband and I had to clean her room on several occasions. She was wet when I would visit and I had to change her. She also went to the hospital because of UTIs more than ever while here. The hospital staff said they see patients from The Lantern come in filthy with UTIs all the time. These people didn’t want to help her they just wanted the huge check every month. I moved my mother to a much better place.
Best place to work!
I have absolutely nothing bad to say about this place it has turned out to be the perfect fit for my father and I am impressed. All of the staff have been so amazing and I am very comfortable with the quality of care he is receiving. The administration team has been helpful in making the transition go smooth and have really went above and beyond to help out our family. I love that I get call once a week on updates with my father and everything that has been going on. I think the dinning room experience is just lovely. They have a spacious setting and lots of tasty meals for the residents.
Morning Pointe is a wonderful facility we're so thankful for a secure and caring home for our loved one
I was very impressed with this community. The people that I talked to were very nice. The facility was very nice as well. There were a few things that I knew just would not work and one was the price the other was that I had a feeling that this community would not meet my wife's needs.
This is a nice community. The staff was very wonderful and helpful to all the needs requested. The meals are very good and satisfying . The community is beautiful and very clean. I would recommend this community for the excellent care here.
It's an extremely hard decision, but it's the best decision someone can make because your loved one is in a safe place. It's a piece of mind. The location was great for me, and the staff is attentive and caring.
My aunt is at The Lantern at Morning Pointe of Frankfort. She has physical therapy and she can’t do much because she has dementia. They serve three meals a day including snacks. They are very concerned with my aunt. I like the way the aides talk to the patients - with respect and dignity. They’re really concerned about the people in their care.
Our experience with The Lantern at Morning Pointe has been a good one, overall! It's a nice looking place, and the people all seem very friendly. Dad is having a little trouble settling in, but they are really doing an excellent job taking care of my Mom in their memory care wing.
I think they do a great job overall at The Lantern at Morning Pointe. The staff are very friendly, and very attentive. They check on Mom constantly, at least once every two hours. They've got all sorts of activities, and they've been keeping Mom busy and entertained, and she is sleeping much better now. It is a nice place, and I would recommend it to others looking in the area.
Will work for us, great staff, clean, nicely handled Management.
The staff are wonderful and very attentive. The Executive Director is dedicated and actively involved with the residents. The whole team is hardworking and dedicated to the residents. They all go the extra mile! Food is great and facility is very clean.
My Dad has lived at Morning Pointe for 2 and a half years. I especially like the small, family style atmosphere. The staff and managers really pay attention to individual needs of each resident. I have great confidence in and appreciation of the excellent nursing staff.
The staff seemed very friendly, and eager to assist the residents. We were greeted promptly, and with a smile. The variety of amenities was very pleasing. They have many 'life enriching' activities every day, including some type of devotional service every day; which is very important to my grandmother. Plus, the kitchen offered 3 meals per day as well as a self-service beverage station. There was a refrigerator and a microwave in every apartment in case someone doesn't want to go to the dining room, which was elegant looking. We were offered lunch while we were there, and the food was surprisingly good. The administrator seemed a little distant during out tour, like her mind was somewhere else. I also liked that if my grandmother's dementia continues to progress to a level where she needs more assistance and/or security, they have a facility right next door, called The Lantern, that is an assisted living facility for persons with Alzheimer's. They are more secure in that the doors are locked at all times in case someone wants to wander.
