Reviews
for Belmont Village Senior Living St. Matthews
Visiting a friend. Appears to be a wonderful facility for senior living.
I have been in assisted living at Belmont Village St. Matthews for over two years. It is an outstanding facility all around. The rooms are nice. The staff are excellent at all levels. The meals are good and are obviously planned with nutrition and healthy eating in mind. The activities are many, varied, and chosen to enhance cognitive function. I make special note of the care and empathy that some of the PALs (personal assistants) display. They work hard at making the residents feel at home, safe, and loved. I recommend it highly.
The facility was always very clean and organized. The dinners I had there were very good. The physical therapist was very good at communicating updates on Mom's progress. I think there were a good number of activities but we would have liked to have some type of Baptist service available either in person or online in Sundays.
My mom has been a resident at Belmont Village for over 10 years, first in the assisted living unit and later in the Memory Care unit. Our experience has been a rewarding one. Not only has mom received excellent care but most recently in the Memory Care unit, it feels like family. Most important to us has been the honest caring concern of staff. Many are long term employees with a true commitment to the residents in their care. They are very special people. I'm sure most facilities will provide good care but Belmont staff provide a step above in hiring special people.
My father and mother moved to Belmont Village from another assisted living as their needs increased. While the other facility was nice, BV was far our best experience! Every staff member was caring and really knew my parents. Lots and lots of activities, and celebrations to keep residents engaged. The nursing staff is wonderful and they were very well-cared for. Memory patients can live with their spouse. I highly recommend Belmont Village for anyone looking for a wonderful assisted living facility!
I really liked it. We picked them because they had a 30 day trial period. If you didn't like it didn't sign a lease.
Overall, the independent side at BV was ok, but they are not truly equipped to handle dementia patients. the MC space behind the locked doors was cold, not a great layout, and my mom hated it and declined rapidly. The administrators (head nurse, head of facility) were cold and deflected blame. She ended up stopping eating, was hospitalized, and passed within a week. One day i found her in a lump, she hadn't eaten in days (nobody called me), she couldn't walk (she was perfectly able to walk), and it went south from there.
My father was in the Memory Care Neighborhood at Belmont Village in Louisville for over 2 years. I happen to live out of state and the staff always supported video calls and hand delivered notes to him for me. Whenever I visted in person, I was impressed by the cleanliness of the building, compedence of the staff, ongoing resident activities and general up-beat feeling at Belmont Village. My most recent visit was during the last week of my father's life. He was in hospice but was able to stay at Belmont. The entire staff did everything possible to make his last days comfortable. They were a true blessing.
My father has lived at Belmont Village for nearly 3 years. He is thriving! He has found a real community there. He loves the activities, the delicious meals, and the frequent happy hours. One of the reasons we chose Belmont Village was because of the positive attitudes of the staff and the family-like atmosphere. It's a joy to visit there, and even when I take Dad for a meal or on an outing, he is always happy to return home to Belmont Village.
My father has been very happy at Belmont! As family members, we know they have his best interests at heart. Their quick responses to a stroke and several falls have been truly lifesaving. We appreciate the many services that he can use, including podiatry and a nurse practitioner. While my father does not avail himself of many social activities, they are always making available theme parties, outings and celebrations.
It is a great place to work and live!!
Belmont Village St. Matthews in Louisville, KY, got loads of love for its awesome staff, clean digs, and top-notch care. The Circle of Friends memory care program is a hit, keeping folks with dementia engaged. Staff are pros – they're attentive and caring. Plenty of fun stuff to do, like music and painting. Food's delicious, made by chefs. The place is bright and comfy, but it's pricey and some extras cost more. Some folks had issues with communication and care consistency. Still, most are happy and recommend it. Employees love it too, saying it's a great place to work. Overall, it's known for great care, activities, and friendly staff.
I'm very happy with Belmont Village, have said so many times. I have told a couple of friends that when their parents get to that point, Belmont would be a good place to consider.
Fantastic facility - great food. Sweet employees - welcoming.
The Caring Pals really make this building a step above. Thank you for all services you have provided my clients over the past 10 years.
Very very nice facility.
Beautiful place to work
Nice place
Wonderful place with graduated care for the elderly.
Great people
The Circle of Friends memory care program at Belmont Village was perfect for our elderly dad who had mild dementia. He was too confused for our mom to take care of him but so mild that he would have hated the full memory care wing. There are two levels of the circle of friends depending on cognitive test results they conduct. The program does a lot of fun stimulating brain activities all day with others at the same level. The staff is amazing! He started out at the highest functioning level and then progressed to the second level before he passed in 2021 at the age of 94. He never did need the full memory care wing. Our mom, who has her apartment at Belmont Village as well, was able to eat meals with him and spend evenings with him in his apartment. It was a beautiful experience for our dad. Our mom still lives there and doesn’t want to leave. It is worth your time to go for a tour.
I have been involved in Senior care professionally for Nine years. Belmont Village in the early days was the only Personal Care Community around and I referred to them regularly. There were seniors in dire situations that I referred for placement and after a month follow up I can honestly say they saved their lives. So it’s very easy to say I have a soft spot for how they care for their residents. Excellent!
This is a very nice facility. It is nicely decorated. The food is amazing. The staff is very polite and attentive to those in the building. I love working with and visiting Belmont Village St. Matthews.
Belmont Village is a wonderful community for Personal Care in St. Matthews. The Circle of Friends program has been very beneficial for the residents that I have observed on my visits to the community. Everyone is so friendly and welcoming.
I.ldad currently living here aa z z
Our family had an in person tour with Belmont Village and it was a close second choice, but the price was just a little bit higher then the other communities we had toured because the medication management was not included. However they had a lot of activities which was nice and the staff were very professional on the tour and very knowledgeable.
We're very happy with Belmont Village. It's a very nice place with great food. They have a dining area called Josephine's Kitchen, where you can order the item of the day, or something else from the menu, and it's all very good. The staff is very friendly, and they greet me every time I come in to visit my mom. She has a nice 2-room apartment that is kept very clean. The care staff comes in numerous times a day to check on her. The location is also good - it's close to lots of things in St. Matthews. I just like Belmont Village a lot.
This is a very nice facility. It is nicely decorated. The food is amazing. The staff is very polite and attentive to those in the building.
Wonderful building and staff. Very Compassionate. Great Dementia programming.
Great staff
Caring and loving staff members throughout the facility. Common living room by main entrance is beautiful and so homey. Lovely place overall!
All the staff is so welcoming. The residents seem very content.
Kind staff attending to my Mom as she is recovering from a surgery.
Nice place for my mom to call home now!
Belmont Village is a wonderful senior community and a outstanding community partner!
Disappointed in the lack of nursing care and lack of attention to detail by management. Overall Belmont is just a social model and way overpriced for a social model. New admits are increasingly feeble and infirm. Residents need more attention to their grooming like shaving and combing hair.
Belmont Village is a wonderful community with such caring staff!!

Receptionist outstanding on making me and resident feel welcome by playing music and moving our chairs toward fireplace. She also talked with us and really listened.
You keep a very nice facility. The residents seemed to enjoy the musical entertainment, which I think is important, and I was happy to participate.
What a nice facility and dog friendly…visited a friend’s Mom who moved in recently and was pleased that my therapy dog in training was welcomed with open arms by staff and residents. Will definitely be back and am glad that Louisville has such nice options for Senior Living!
Beautiful facility, with friendly staff, and exceptional care.
Needed to post this here because other sites refuse to take negative reviews. Very disappointing, as I am in love with the company itself and their values. I worked here for about 3 years and during my first year of employment I was promised that once I worked there for a year, that I would be able to move up within the company and train for a management position. After I brought it up again with management after my first year, they told me that suddenly I needed to finish my college degree before I could do the training. It was very discouraging as another employee with no college credentials began training for a management position shortly after I was rejected. This company strives for the well-being and comfort of it's residents and I really like the programs they provide for them. It is unlike other senior living facilities in the area. Belmont has unique standards for their resident's quality of life. It's just a shame that they do not have the same standards for their employees. In my three years at Belmont, I can only name a hand full of times I was able to use my PTO. Most of the time when you did request PTO, management would get very upset with you and act like you did something wrong. Also, it is required by law that employees have two 15 minute breaks. I never had one, ever. I felt that the management at Belmont was very unfair and borderline abusive. There were times when there was a staff meeting in our department, and the manager would call me out and embarrass me in front of my coworkers by asking me to explain very simple tasks step by step that require no explanation, like putting food on a plate in the dining room. It was very strange and uncomfortable. There were also times when I would receive texts from my manager simply stating, "We need to talk, come to my office immediately", and there was no explanation as to what it was about. I was not the only one that this happened to. It made me uncomfortable as it often felt like I was a bad kid being scolded by my parent, instead of it feeling like a work relationship between boss and employee. Another uncomfortable aspect of the meetings in particular was the fact that sometimes they would start talking about politics, bashing particular candidates, parties, and groups of people, which I felt was very discriminatory and inappropriate. Most of the time, I kept to myself if that ever became the topic of conversation, because I felt uncomfortable discussing those things in the workplace. I could list a million other things wrong with the way management treated the employees at Belmont, but then we would have an entire novel instead of a review. My advice to anyone wanting to work here: it is good work experience and the culture between coworkers and residents can be fun and uplifting. However, it is not a great long-term job. There is little to no room for advancement within the company, and expect management to take advantage of you over and over again.
Excellent staff who care about the residents' well being. The food served is better than 90% of the other senior living homes.
Belmont Village has been invaluable in helping my sister and I navigate the issues and situations that arise with aging parents. They consistently go above and beyond to work with us, keep us informed, and provide top notch care. Belmont Village has been wonderful to our mom and dad, and we are forever grateful!
Nice
Belmont displays a beautiful, positive, caring environment for anyone interested in seeking care for their elderly relative—-However, it is a facade, only too often practiced by many “assisted living” and or nursing facilities! Patients are not well cared for, as there are only a handful of their “PALS”, ie: staff that actually care and are well trained. Poor and inconsistent management in training and policies, as well as following and enforcing those policies through protocols and procedures are on a need to know basis! Belmont’s patient mortality is rising and it isn’t due to the COVID pandemic! It is all about the money! Anyone who has ever had to face placing a loved one in this kind of facility is all too aware of the sticker shock cost of such care. Belmont professes to be an assisted living facility, but often their patients are in need of skilled nursing care around the clock. Routinely, it is covered up by the administration through well practiced semantics during the sales pitch as well as keeping the elderly gold mine as a resident! Yet, the high cost for residency does not trickle down to the “PALS”, ultimate caring staff! Bathing, changing, feeding, as well as maintaining patient’s Quarters is sadly less than the minimum wage. Not all who work in these facilities have the compassion for such work and it shows! BEWARE! Choosing Belmont, will surely be the last place your loved one will live—if they even survive!
I would tell others that of all the places I visited and checked out this was the best from cleanliness, activities, and there is a true community here. The food has been good for my loved one, they feel like all they do is eat. The community is responsive when I bring something up about my loved one needing stuff for their room.
Belmont Village is a wonderful senior living community in Louisville that provides fantastic care and has awesome staff! We are lucky to have Belmont here in our community.
Excellent memory care people! Lots of activities and music provided... keeps Mom happy! Quiet, clean and the food is quite good. She feels safe and I feel safe. Thanks!
