Reviews
for Highgrove at Tates Creek
Things are wonderful, they love it. The staff is wonderful administration is very helpful. They work together as a team.
The people at Highgrove are wonderful! They are all extremely kind. Every member of the team, from the nursing staff to the dining room to therapy to the directors absolutely goes above and beyond when you need them, and they're all really good at making you feel like it's no big deal. I'll tell you, sometimes it IS a big deal, and they are all very appreciated! On top of all that, the food is really good and the dining room is lovely. There's almost always something fun going on, and it's a really welcoming atmosphere. My Dad has visitors all the time because we enjoy being there too! Highly recommend!
The community is warm, friendly, helpful, and kind to mom. The "apartment" is nice and spacious. The food is above average and mom has gained a little weight. We appreciate the activities though mom does not participate as we had hoped. The onsite salon, chapel, and sitting areas are a plus. There are some staffing issues with turnover common in the industry. We have issues with level of cleaning provided (just not as thorough and strenuous as we like, maybe too high a bar we set), took a while to get med dose packs accurate, response times longer than expected when requesting an aide, laundry service and options do not meet expectations. We chose it mostly because of the location and references from friends and are mostly satisfied. It has only been 6 weeks so expect things to improve with the new ED. Hopefully staffing issues will resolve and consistency and promptness will improve along with a higher level of fastideousness.
Big turnover in staffing, but leveled out and improving. I think the meals are fine, but my brother wishes for better. The cost is steep, but doable for us, and they provide what he currently needs.
We presented to them what our Moms needs were and they misrepresented what the staff could do to meet her needs. It was nice enough but wasn't what our Mom needed.
Our tour of HighGrove at Tates Creek was to be the first of a series of tours of senior living facilities in a search for a close friend needing to transition from living alone. If I hadn’t known it was a senior living facility I’d have thought we’d walked into a Five Star hotel or resort. We scratched our tours of other facilities after seeing Highgrove at Tates Creek because we were certain we’d just seen the best!
It’s an amazing place
Highgrove was bought out last year by a different corporation. Everything kind of went downhill from there. Different company in charge of food. Sandi was left in her room to eat meals alone. At the beginning of this year, the executive Director and the Memory Care Director left. Her room was always dirty. It was an ongoing problem. Other than the Memory Care Director, staff was not very friendly. Overall experience was not good. I would not recommend it to anyone.
I would give this Facility a 0 star if I could. As a former employee I would never put a Loved One in this Facility. They do NOT care about their employees. Staff sleep at night instead of providing care. Heavens forbid you bleed out and have a miscarriage on the job because Management does not care and told to “Deal with it.” When you stand up for yourself you are reprimanded. And the hours you do work you are not paid for. This place should be shut down. I could say a lot more about what goes on behind the walls but I think we all get the point.
My mom has been in memory care at Highgrove for over two years. Lisa is wonderful and always keeps me posted on how she is doing and lets me know if we need to do anything. The staff are very caring and attentive to the residents needs as well.
The local staff is very friendly and helpful. However, their corporate practices are very unfair. My wife spent over 5 years in this facility and passed away. They would not reimburse me a fair amount of money for her final prepaid rent.
My mother-in- law has been in memory care for a few months. I appreciate the care and attention she is receiving.
Amazing place.very happy my mom is here.
My father-in-law has moved into Highgrove at Tates Creek. He's in memory care. It's been great so far. We really enjoy it. No complaints on our end. We were hoping he'd be in the assisted living, but he just needs a higher level of care. The assisted living area is beautiful. The entrance is very welcoming. In the memory care, his room is a little bit smaller, but he's got enough room for maneuvering in his wheelchair. It's got all the amenities. He has a mini-fridge and a little kitchenette area, and the bathroom is nice. The staff has been nothing but helpful for any questions we have, or any help we've needed while he's been there. They have arts and crafts time where they can do painting. They also have coloring books and puzzles and things of that sort. He has enjoyed all the meals he's gotten. No complaints on our end. We've actually eaten with them and it was pretty good. It's not like gourmet food, but for an assisted living place it's pretty good. We've got four kids and they offered all my kids free meals while we were there visiting. They've been great. They've been supportive in the transition because he went from assisted living into the memory care, so that was a pretty big adjustment for him. He seems to be doing pretty good with it. They've been nothing but helpful. I know memory care is expensive. It pretty much doubled in price from assisted living to that, so it was a bit of a shock.
At first this placed seemed like it was run well and staffed well but after only 3 months of my mother being in the memory unit downstairs they let her out for a day trip with someone who wasn’t authorized to take her. After 6 months my mother refused to take the medication they had prescribed her and she returned back to her normal self (they had her on way too many unnecessary sedatives). I cannot stress enough how poorly this place is being run. They are desperate for that check. If I could give them negative stars I would.
Great people, flexible food options, feels good that my loved one is in a place where he can get care. They offered two large bedroooms and a garage.
We have used Highgrove at Tates Creek for respite care for my mom. Overall, this facility is a good safe place for your loved one. I felt great about the care that mom was receiving while she was at this facility. I would suggest labeling your loved one's belongings with their name because things do get misplaced.
My mother moved to this facility in December 2022… it was a much better run facility at that time. (I had initially given them a 5 star rating.) They have since changed management, have had a high turnover of staff. They have not maintained adequate ratio of staff to adequately supervise patients to keep them safe. They struggle with basic supervision and hygiene. They do not provide the same level of memory care activities for patients. They do not communicate well with families. When I started questioning their honesty and could no longer trust them to take care of my mother, I moved her to another facility.
My Mother has been a resident in Memory Care for over a year. There are not enough words to express how grateful we are to Lisa Stamper for the love, care, and compassion she (and her staff) has shown to our Mother. This is not a 9-5, Monday-Friday job for Lisa as my sister and I have received text messages, long after working hours, and on weekends as well. She lets us know our Mother has had a great day, or there may be a concern she wanted us to know about. We have such peace of mind knowing Lisa truly cares about our Mother, and all of the residents.
We had a great experience with assisted living at Highgrove at Tate's Creek. The staff were the nicest and most helpful people. And their sales director [name removed] is great!
So far we've had a wonderful experience getting my dad into Highgrove. Ashley, Brittany and Robin were all a great help and super available for questions and information. Dad really likes his new room and enjoys the activities and the food in the dining room. Really super place with a great staff.
We were here for a few days and did not have a good experience. There were people who would wander into my loved ones room. I asked the staff how to prevent this from happening all the time and they told me we would need to lock the door when we go in and also lock the door whenever we leave to prevent things from being taken - for a memory care resident, I did not think that was a very good answer. The staff are not positioned to be able to oversee all of the residents. There was a man who was naked and wandering the halls and I had to wave down a staff member, no one had seen him. They did a great job of re-directing him and handled it well. My loved one did not feel comfortable being here after that had happened so we decided to move. I had agreed to pay some of the upfront fees, but wanted to talk to the director about having to pay the full amount when we were only there a few days and I did not feel they upheld some of their parts of the contract. I wrote a letter to him explaining the circumstances and gave it a few weeks but got no response. I went into the office to make an appointment with him and again never heard back. The staff then gave me his personal line and I called and left a message and never heard back. I ended up having to write to the corporate office which was also hard to get in touch with. I felt the whole situation was handled very poorly and unprofessional.
Highgrove and Tates Creek is an amazing place the staff there are friendly always smiling Ashley the office manager comes by the room and check on me and my client I am a caregiver and me and my client absolutely loves high Grove they have so much to offer such as restaurant style dining Chapel hair salon laundry room movie theater bistro fitness room many activities daily the food is delicious the kitchen staff are amazing the staff there always willing tohelp smiling everyday if you're looking for a place for your loved one Highgrove is the place to be 😊
I don't think we could have chosen a better facility or group of people to assist our parents then Highgrove. The staff has been fabulous. The Executive Director, Robin, went above and beyond to assist us with meeting the needs of our parents. The staff is always cheerful and willing to help in any way possible. I was able to enjoy several meals in the dinning room with my mother and can say that the food was excellent and service even better.
Extremely poorly run organization. The manager Jason is never to be found. They have changed entire faculty over the last 3 years because nobody wants to stay. They have an extremely hard time retaining any of their employees. If you truly want to see how poorly run this facility is, visit it after 5 pm or on the weekends. My mom stayed there for 4 years under different management. As soon as the new management came, I noticed her care getting neglected. The old recruiter, the old manager, and the old nurse (who were all awesome), left. Slowly I noticed that her room, kitchen, and fridge were not being cleaned despite us paying $5500 per month for rent. I started getting no phone calls on how she was doing during the weekdays. On the weekends when I went to visit her, I noticed maggots on her carpet and reported it (photo attached). I noticed her fridge was not being cleaned (picture attached). I got the overwhelming sense that this place was only concerned about cashing checks and maintaining status quo. The worst was when i told them we were leaving. I spoke to the manager about leaving in the end of February. I moved my mom out mid Feb. to another facility and went back a week later to get her belonging and they had already discarded my mom's possessions without my permission so that they could get it ready for new renters. When I approached them about this, they did not even apologize and had the audacity of charge me for the full month of rent despite clearing out her room and apartment mid February. I just couldn't believe how desperate they were to get more business. We are currently filing complaints with the long-term care ombudsman and the office of inspector general division of healthcare. I caution you to stay away from this place, visit it during nights and weekends, and ask the senior people how long they have worked at that facility.
My experience with Highgrove has been very positive. I have entrusted them with the care of my mother for more than four years. She’s one of their Varitas/memory care residents. Lisa is the director of memory care. She is loving, caring and sincere when she says her residents become “family”. I have peace knowing my mother is getting excellent, loving care in an environment that’s designed for her!
We love Highgrove. Facility is great and the staff is wonderful.
The community is very convenient which is something we really like, and overall it is a really nice place. There are always a lot of activities going on and the meals are really good. We would recommend this community to other families.
The staff members have been wonderful but we are having an issues with the general cleanliness of the community - it is not always as frequent as it should be like the sweeping and cleaning of the bathroom. We have been there quite a few times during meal service and everything seems to be really good. We were quite surprised by the activities they offer especially on the assisted living side. They have live entertainment, parties, etc. it really is extravagant .
Lisa at Memory Care went out of her way to make sure my father in law had the best care. She took the time to contact us when needed. We visited my father often and I was never disappointed at the care given at Highgrove. My father in law was happy and content at his home in memory care. After his passing, Lisa reached out with her condolences. If you need care for a loved one , this is a safe , clean and happy place to be. I highly recommend Highgrove . The staff very friendly, loving and kind. The activities that my father in law enjoyed : group exercise, movie time, cookie afternoons, veteran and therapy dog visit and group holiday dinners with the family . We were apologetic the hair cutting service offered . My father in law enjoyed the pool table and work out room also. Thank you Highgrove for all you do!
I recently stopped in to Highgrove to see the location for my grandfather. I was very impressed with the building, it was clean, vibrant and all residents seemed to be very happy.
Staff goes above and beyond to create a wonderful atmosphere for it’s residents. They are very active with the outside community and with the residents. Excellent work.
I am writing to highly recommend the facilities and people at Highgrove. I researched facilities in my current location in Louisiana and in Lexington where I will be relocating. Highgrove has exceeded all benchmarks starting with my introductory phone inquiries. I have had access to multiple staff members and I have always had my calls, texts, and emails answered promptly and accurately. I was promised things that were "too good to be true", and I can state unequivocally that all of the promises were kept. The initial tour was very well organized to allow the staff to get acquainted with me and my wife who has advanced Alzheimer's. My wife is happier, more social and active with a better appetite than at home. She is calm, comfortable, and well-groomed. The entire staff is continuously interacting with the residents in a caring and professional manner. If you or a loved one need independent, assisted, or memory care you should come to Highgrove and experience the personal connection that permeates the entire organization.
Highgrove at Tates Creek is absolutely amazing! All About Kids Childcare Center gets the best benefit of being next door neighbors to High Grove. We have established such a sweet partnership with the residents. Their facilities, staff, and residents are top notch. The joining and building of relationships across these generations has been such a blessing and memories have been created that will last a lifetime! Joni Cecil, Assistant Director
I have volunteered at Highgrove for 4 months and they are so nice! I walk in and there always is a smiling face to greet me. The residents have an ever changing daily schedule that ranges from bingo to Parkinson’s Group to even something as simple as board games with me! Highgrove gives quality care to their residents.
I have visited Highgrove once/month for over four years (except during the Covid shut down), I have always been greeted by a friendly staff, exceptionally clean facilities and happy clients. I highly recommend Highgrove as a Senior Living facility!
Highgrove is so warm and welcoming to absolutely everyone. We took our three children there recently to visit Santa and his reindeer. We stayed just to talk with residents and play some chess! It was wonderful to watch my kids be so sweet with the residents. I will definitely be back to visit. Such love!!
Fun Christmas stuff. Great staff
Wonderfully caring staff, beautiful facility and great food!
This is a wonderful community. Beautiful apartments and cottages, and the staff are so helpful. Anyone needing senior living should consider Highgrove.
A great facility. Top notch staff and amenities. Therapy staff is outstanding!
Highgrove is beautiful on a regular day but decorated for Christmas right now it looks absolutely stunning! On top of the upscale homey feel you get from the decor, you can really tell that the staff cares for the residents they serve. They take the time to be committed to excellence and constantly work on improving to get as close to perfect as possible. I would definitely recommend this building to anyone who wants/needs a little bit more help than they used to but wants to stay active in a community/social setting.
Beautiful facility. They offer a fun, vibrant atmosphere for everyone.
My mom has been a resident at HighGrove in the memory care suites for about 15 months. It’s not an easy decision to choose a place for someone you love but are unable to care for them yourself anymore. There are several reasons that have made Highgrove the best choice for my mom and me. The memory care program director, Lisa Stamper, does a fantastic job working with this group of people. Each resident seems to experience a unique manifestation of dementia and memory loss but they are all treated with respect for their individual personalities and needs. She gets to know them all and is involved with their care. Lisa and the staff do an amazing job creating special events and celebrating all of the holidays. Dementia patients may not express their appreciation but I think it does give them a feeling of still being a part of something. Moments in life can still be experienced. Most importantly to me, Lisa has always been accessible to me in person or by text. Her office door is open and she’s front and center to the heart of the space. Any issues that come up have been addressed quickly. She’s easy to talk to and I appreciate being able to ask for advice or reassurance. Regarding the physical aspects, the memory care suites are very comfortable. They have big windows with lots of natural light. The bathroom is large and modern with lots of accessories for accessibility. Most of the residents congregate in the main living/ dining area. They have a routine of activities and meals. I enjoy seeing them out in the main room. They can go in and out of the central courtyard on their own as long as it's not too hot or cold. And for residents who like to walk or wander, the corridor makes a giant loop so they will always end up back in the main room. It’s been a comfort knowing my mom is safe, in a good place and that Lisa and the staff are giving her the best care they can.
Highgrove offers a variety of activities and events within a beautiful setting. The atmosphere is enhanced by all the friendly faces that live there, and I feel privileged as a member of the EmpowerMe team to provide therapy services to clients from various backgrounds.
I have visited and volunteered at Highgrove throughout this year. Each visit has consistently proven how much the staff care about the residents. Staff and residents truly have a family bond. The caring environment is immediately obvious through all the laughter, smiles, dancing, and great conversations!!! And to support the home and family atmosphere, the decor is over top with cozy seating around a gorgeous fireplace; a movie room; garden, southern rockers on a beautiful porch; and a lovely dining room! I want to reserve my room now!!!!
The building is extremely nice and the staff are very friendly.
Highgrove is an outstanding community! The housing is more than comfortable, the amenities are wonderful, and the staff is patient and kind. I highly recommend this beautiful community!
I loved working with the Highgrove team!
Beautiful facility that really cares about the residents !
