Reviews
for Holiday Hartland Hills
Review of Hartland Hills Senior Living and Bluegrass Health Care Moving my mother out of her longtime home was one of the hardest decisions our family had to make. Thankfully, we were fortunate to find Hartland Hills. From the very beginning, Rhonda was a tremendous help—guiding us through every step of the transition with patience, compassion, and expertise. My mother was stubborn, withdrawn, and not interested in leaving her room, eating in the dining area, or participating in any social activities. The staff never gave up on her. They put in the extra time, effort, and care to gently encourage her toward becoming more active and engaged. Thanks to their dedication, my mother is now making real progress. She’s healthier, more mobile, and even enjoying time with other residents. It’s clear the staff truly care for the people who live there, treating them like family and always going above and beyond. We’re so grateful to everyone at Hartland Hills and Bluegrass Health Care for helping our mother find comfort, community, and a renewed sense of purpose. —Leslie R.
This place has roaches and bed bugs i worked for them for 3 years as a maintenance manager and they, are very gross they have roaches inside the kitchen, where they serve people, food and everything. There are rooms are very gross people carry approaches to their bedrooms, and then everybody else gets them bed bugs are very, very bad. The service there really sucks just taking from my advice that they are very, very nasty people. The residents are rude.
Since our first day my wife and I have been sincerely satisfied with the facilities, staff, activities, food and location of Holiday Hartland Hills.
After living at Hartland Hills for only 3 months, I consider it my "home". The services and facility are good and the opportunities for friendship and community are wonderful. Hartland Hills is the best place of it's kind in Lexington.
The staff work hard to meet the needs of the residents. When entering the facility you are greeted by one of the staff. All of the employees are sweet and kind. I recommend Holiday Hartland Hills. The residents are happy and smiling especially, breakfast, lunch and dinner.
I would tell others- Ask questions. About food, staff, other people that live there. Smell. Use your nose. This is an independent facility, but staff are emotionally supportive. Activities and food are improving and growing. It is the least expensive place I found.
Make sure of the transportation situation, if that service is something that is important to the new resident. The apartment size is adequate, amenities are okay.
My expience with Hartland Hills has be very positive. The Staff of Hartland Hills, Bob, Amanda, Rhonda and Nancy are very caring and compassionate towards the Residents who live there. The above Staff have helped me with issues that my Sister and Brother n Law were having while living there. The facility is very clean and well-maintained. The meals that are served are nutrious and delicious. They also have fresh fruit and snacks for the Residents daily.
It seems the staff here really cares about the residents. I would advise anyone who is looking for a place to give it a try. It is more expensive than a regular apartment but here you are part of a community. The food is ok, not great. It's a good community and so far I'm happy here.
Rhonda Owen's is a pleasure to work with and truly cares about her residents and their quality of life. She is always available to the residents and makes them laugh and know they are always cared for. I feel that this community is a wonderful place to live.
I think the community had a lot of positives, but I was worried about dad's safety. With only one elevator going up and down and most of the people on the second floor not able to get out during a fire. There would've been a lot of issues. Had there been an emergency such as that. Staff was qualified and friendly and helpful. Food was really pretty good, just not always the healthiest. They did great for being such a busy place. The cleanliness was kind of isolated at times when they did not have enough housekeeping staff. I think they have corrected that now. The staff would always go out of their way to help my dad with different things like transportation, helping him get to doctors appointments, making sure he got the food that he ordered, also providing a place for me to stay when I visited from out of state. The residents were awesome! I think the activity Director did a good job of gathering the community together for different events.
I visited Holiday Hartland Hills and actually quite liked it. They were very nice, and it looked like a nice facility. I had lunch there, and it was a nice meal. Everybody was very friendly and very welcoming. The facility itself was nice and located in an area that I'm fairly familiar with. It wasn't somewhere where I had no idea where anything was so that's one thing about it that was good. It seemed like it would be a nice place to live, and they made me feel very welcome. They showed me the independent living apartments because that's what I was looking for. I didn't actually go wandering around or anything like that but I could see out the windows and it looked nice. Lexington is a pretty town with a lot of nice green areas. It was the 1-bedroom apartment that I looked at, and I'm pretty sure they had refrigerators. I would think they would have to have them so that if you have leftovers or anything you want to bring in for yourself, you have a way to keep it from spoiling.
The place is beautiful. The apartments are spacious and very nice. The food is a little sparse(but it's probably portioned correctly). You're not going to go hungry. It's not bad, but could be a little better. I joked that I would lose weight eating there with my father and I did so that was awesome. My daughter and I interact with other residents and everyone is super nice. My father likes it there. He's made friends, he's active, and he is well cared for. I hope he can live out the rest of his years there.
My apartment is adorable. We are treated like family and we have made friends.
I Love being a part of the Hartland Hills family. We have made friends, great atmosphere and our apartment is adorable.
I would talk about how difficult it was to live alone. We are not meant to be alone. And my life is so much fuller with the activities we have. No pushing to attend or join in groups. Find out what you are interested in. We have a bus to attend appointments or shopping or out for a meal. Visit several times. Have a meal. Talk to people that live there and people who work there.
This is wonderful community of people helping other people. A beautiful campus with engaging activities for all who choose to attend seem to enjoy. Thank you for all you do to keep the facility a safe and warm environment.
The staff is so friendly, you feel like you have known them forever. This was a tough transition for my family, but they have welcomed my father w open arms and a smile.
I would absolutely recommend it-everyone there is awesome, you can tell they really love working there with all the residents..
I toured Hartland Hills, and it was amazing. I had been to another community, so when I went to this one, when I walked in, I was very impressed. I am going back and take my daughters to see it. The staff was very sweet and very helpful. I was really impressed.
I really loved Holiday Hartland Hills. I thought it was perfect. That was the first one I looked at, and I really, really liked it. I looked at one apartment that was empty, and then one that was furnished. My favorite was the one with the balcony. To me it was like a little condo. It felt like you weren't living in a nursing home. It was like you went on a vacation and you were in a condo. I really liked it. They had appliances in the units. There's a nice-sized refrigerator and a microwave. The lady that showed me around was very, very nice. She has been there for 11 years, and I was very impressed. One of the units had a little balcony and outside it had flowers planted for the spring. It was nice. I looked at the menu and it looked really nice. It looked healthy and there were a lot of choices.
We have a family member that has been here for more than 7 years. The staff is very caring and concerned. Rhonda Owens has gone above and beyond to be sure our family member has what she needs, including meals. Bob, property manager, Amanda, and Nancy have been outstanding as well. Would highly recommend Hartland Hills.
Holiday Hartland Hills has been a great resource for a community for my mother. Facility is very nice and the staff is very helpful and accommodating. Especially, the leasing manager Rhonda Owens. She has gone above and beyond to help my family and my mother become a resident there. All other staff as well. I would recommend this to anyone with independent/assisted living needs in the Lexington, KY area.
Kudos to Rhonda Owens the Community Sales Manager at Hartland Hills. She really cares about people and thought outside of the box when a new resident had a long distance travel crisis. After multiple calls and chats with us concerning how she was going to getting a new resident from Pensacola Florida, back home to Lexington,Ky. We answered the call and worked with Rhonda in securing a long distance transport for one of her new residents. She called us on Wednesday and by Saturday at 1:00pm the new resident was enjoying a hot meal for lunch. It really shows the detail and commitment Rhonda has for all who live at Hartland Hills. Signed Julia
Hartland Hills is a wonderful community for your loved ones to live in! They have the daily support and care they need and you have the peace of mind they are SAFE!
I had moved Mom from another facility, which was Assisted Living. It was that bad. I had concerns about moving Mom to Independent Living. Every facility talks a good game when you are looking at the facility, Hartland follows through. Mom is an alcoholic and they really have done everything that they can to help me with the situation. They have given me the peace of mind so I can finally have a life. I'm not having to deal with Mom's crisis by myself. I know they are helping me. If I'm not there, they call and talk with me about it. They say they are a family and mean it. There's always a manager in the dining room or walking around and always talking to the residents. Everyone I have met has been friendly. The food is good and they work with the residents. At one point, Mom had just been released from the hospital and I went and asked the kitchen staff if Mom could have something to eat for when she was hungry. They immediately made her a sandwich, etc. This was not during meal time. I haven't experienced anything negative. One thing that I learned from Hartland that I did not know: Hartland is private, which means the family makes the decision when your loved one needs to be moved to Memory Care. You can add on home Healthcare which is located in Hartland. Mom had been in a facility that was much more expensive but State run. If you disagree with them sending your loved one to Memory Care, you have to get an attorney and go to court to fight it. It's a lot more expensive. I highly recommend Holiday Hartland Hills. Talk with them, it will be worth your while.
Best community to have family in lots of Support and love.
love it here at Hartland Hills
Hartland Hills is a God-send! After we took a tour of Hartland Hills, my sister and I knew immediately that this was the place for our uncle. The staff goes above and beyond to assist with anything needed; the chef is amazing and funny and comes out into the dining room to talk to and assist the residents. The property is neat, clean and very well kept. There are a number of activities, daily, for the residents to do. They have live entertainment as well. If you are looking for a facility to assist your family with care for a loved one, we highly recommend Hartland Hills. *****
It’s with total confidence and satisfaction that I would like to recommend Hartland Hills HIGHLY! After struggling to find a suitable place for my Mom, and suffering setback after setback with other locations, Hartland Hills was the location to give us everything my Mom needed to live a happy life in her 80’s. My daughter and I were very cautious when we first moved my mother into Hartland because of the problems we faced before, concerned about the shift from assisted to independent living. Still, Hartland assured us they were like a family there. We took great care in showing up to the facility at different times, during different shifts, and making sure that the staff meant what they said about genuine care towards those in the building. Everything they stated when we took the tour was true, from being like family to the commitment to excellence when caring for their residents. There was always a manager nearby, usually in the dining room, and if they saw a resident, they would be sure to go and speak with them. They were not simply sitting in their offices and playing overseer, they were actively involved with their residents and showing compassion towards them in their conversations and laughter and understanding their needs. They keep track of what is going on in the building. The biggest test for an independent living structure, though, is how they handle an emergency. We could not be more impressed with their quick thinking and actions!! This is the biggest compliment one can give, simply because of the care Hartland provides. In all our time trying to find a good place for Mom, this was the first incident where someone helped us manage the issues, even though we had asked for years from other (lesser) places. Hartland is the first place to see my mom’s needs and provide. My daughter, too, has security knowing that Hartland and it’s wonderful staff are taking such good care of Mom, enough that she can enjoy her college experience without fearing for a family member’s safety. If you or a loved one is considering independent or assisted living (they have home health there too), please talk to the professionals at Hartland (Bob or Rhonda is amazing!!). It will be worth your time. When choosing a place for a loved one, you need to choose the place that treats them like their own. Hartland does all this and more. 10/10!!!
This is an extremely nice retirement home
Holiday Hartland Hills has been absolutely amazing for my uncle. The staff are great. They have like five activities every day. They have a reading room, they play bocce ball, they do puzzles, they do bingo, they do cornhole, and they paint. They do all kinds of activities. I've had one meal with him so far and it was very good. The chef is great. She prepares everything daily. It's all fresh. It's all homemade. The place itself is very clean and very neat. They had a bunch of renovations, so a lot of it is all new. They have transportation to and from doctors' appointments, and to and from the grocery store. On Fridays they do a fun outing, so they'll go have lunch at a local restaurant, or they'll go take a walk around a local park. We love this place.
My dad likes it.
I missed a chance to tell people how great this place is, because, I missed filling out the survey. I am talking about Holiday Hartland Hills. I have been here for a year now and have only good things to say about it. Our leaders are wonderful, they will help you anyway possible. You will never be lonely again. Plenty of activities to play, learn, and have fun. Our newest item we just got "Alexa" great. It is like I have a new friend. She can do all kinds of things she teaches, spells, reminds you, explains what's happening all day and a lot more. Come visit us you will like it.
The staff here is really good, when they can get somebody hired for a position. It's corporate decisions that bother me greatly, not local staff. They're great. Corporate sux. Willy May
We went to Holiday Hartland Hills, and it was very nice. They were very friendly. It seemed like a really good clean community environment. It was a good tour. The staff who gave me the tour was very informative, very friendly, and compassionate. They seemed very well-equipped. It seemed to me that the set-up was organized. I'm not sure what all the amenities were, but I know they had a sense of community. I know they did outings for the residents that are very mobile and very active. On the tour, I witnessed places for family to come, see it, and do activities. They had a sense of community for the residents there. They can have socialization, and that seemed like a good thing for all of them. The only thing that gave me pause was that they would raise the rent in one year, so that was uncertain to me; therefore, we declined.
The staff is awesome. I was very impressed. The food is good but not great. They do a good job. They are really great with the activities. We picked thsi community, because it was the best deal out of all of the ones that we looked at, so it's affordable. [name removed] is amazing, and is especillay helpful with residents who need financial assistance with the VA's office. [name removed] the manger went out of his way. He works very hard. [name removed] the assitant manager is great. Also, the chef works really hard to make sure everyone happy.
I have toured the Holiday Hartland Hills. I remember the reception that people were very friendly, they showed me everything and were very informative. They showed me a vacant apartment and treated me to lunch. I met some people in the lunch room, and I met one of the residents in the hallway and I talked to her some. She considers it a nice place to live and she liked it. I've tried their dessert and it was pretty good. I understand they have several activities that they do. The facility was very clean, everything was very clean and that's what I liked about it.
Felt tour went well just wasn't a fit for a few reasons for our loved one.
We are going to choose Holiday Hartland Hills for my dad because after viewing every other place, it was a better deal with a better price. The staff is great and very informative. The food is healthy and there are different options. They have a small exercise room, they have cable, and they have an outside area that's fenced. The amenities looked fine to me.
Hartland Hills is an excellent place for your loved one. The location, staff, and the cleanliness make this an excellent place to be. The community overall is wonderful as well. The communication with the staff was fair at first, and it has improved over time. There are three meals served daily and the residents have choices to choose from. The Marketing Director was very welcoming and helpful during the tour and move in process. The warmth and concern of the staff in regards to my loved one and family was amazing during a life transition!
I like Hartland Hills a lot. I like the open light spaces in the common area and the staff. They're helpful and upbeat. It's a great situation. They have a salon and all kinds of activities.
Very nice area close to shopping, eating, banking.
Hartland Hills was a nice place in general. It just didn't have what mom needed. It didn't have the full kitchen and things like that. It's clean. They just didn't have some of the things that mom needed. There was no place for mom to fix herself something to eat on her own when she wanted something to eat. The staff was very kind, very informative, and very approachable. There was hardly any parking. Because a lot of the people there have cars, they had a very, very limited, small, cramped parking lot. It's such a big building. I don't see how visitors can come during Christmas and birthdays and things like that, especially if you have four or five people coming from one resident. They had balconies, but as far as a place where they could get out and stroll, I didn't see any place like that. They had a fitness center. One side is Tates Creek, which is a busy road. It's like a six-lane road on one side and then the other side is a neighborhood, so you're surrounded by houses and there's not much green space.
Very clean well organized Very caring
Wonderful place with great staff and lovely residents
I did not like this community due to the cleanliness of the community.
The friendliness of the staff members and the cleanliness of the community really stood out to us from the beginning. We would recommend this community to others families.
I just arrived a few days ago, but I'm fully satisfied with Hartland Hills. The staff is very committed to the welfare of the residents. Their food is excellent, and the serving is just right. My apartment is quite roomy. There's something every day, and today, I participated in a physical therapy type thing, just simple exercises with a ribbon and with a ball, which you could do sitting down. The food is too good because I eat more than I should, and it is first-rate stuff. It's a very good place.
