Reviews
for Sunrise of Louisville
Sometimes hard to find someone on the floor. Room disheveled sometimes. I think staff in hurry. I would expect more attention but the charges are currently less than what we were paying before. However, overall a 5 rating.
facility maintained well, food served at meals is very good, great personal attention
My parents have resided here for a year and the staff is exemplary; kind and considerate and they genuinely care about the residents. Sunrise offers weekly activities that foster interaction and learning. Very happy with Sunrise. Update, my mom has now been here almost 3 years and my dad died here a few years ago. The care provided to my dad at the end was tremendous and attentive and the kindness showered on my mom since then has been wonderful. My mom is well cared for, has friendships, and she’s very content and safe.
Sunrise of Louisville is wonderful. Upon entering, it was very clean, and it had a nice, sweet smell to it. They did a very good job with the physical plant. It's well managed. The people are very gracious and friendly. We had a meal there, and I was impressed. You can order from a menu. They had tablecloths and napkins. It was very gracious and very Southern. It was very appealing to us. I would love it, but $7,000 a month is way too high. There was no help, and we didn't have long-term health insurance, either. Otherwise, I would have signed on gladly. The staff members were very professional, warm, and friendly. The one who gave the tour was very friendly and warm, too. We talked about Louisville and places that we had in common that we liked. She was a very gracious and very friendly young girl. It had wonderful aromas from the kitchen, and the appropriations in the dining room were just first-class. The place is gorgeous, and it's in a beautiful part of the city. My main attraction is the location. It is well-kept and beautiful.
We experienced outstanding compassion for those in their charge--amongst ALL personnel. Room sizes, and attendant prices, vary.
Not a good experience. My mom's room always smelled like urine. They lost a special comforter my mom had when she moved in. The staff was not nice to her or me.
Visited this facility on a Sunday afternoon when they had an outside event with a cookout and karaoke for the residents. Very impressed by the friendly staff . LaTonya was excellent with staff and residents . Facility was extremely clean. The residents seemed to be happy and enjoy the music that day. It seemed to have a sense of home.
Visited this location a couple Sundays ago. They were having an outing for the residents. It was a beautiful day. Residents were outside enjoying food and listening to a DJ. Some residents and employees were doing karaoke. It appeared to me everyone was having a really good time. The employees there were really nice, especially LaTonya. The building and grounds were neat and clean. Went inside just before dinner was to be served. Food smelled really good.
It is a nice facility with kind and friendly staff. Our loved one likes the food as well as the variety of activities
Our mother rapidly bonded with her care-givers and neighbors in the Sunrise of Louisville Community. She received truly wonderful care in the last months of her life--a level of care that we, her sons, were incapable of providing on our own. We shall always be so very grateful to the whole Sunrise Community.
I didn't care for the caregiver that was sent to take care of my wife & no I would not recommend them!
I would recommend Sunrise, it has been a very positive experience for both Mom and I. Twice Mom has had to go to the ER by ambulance, and they did a great job of sharing information. Mom has settled in and seems to enjoy the activities, staff and other residents.
We met with Heather and discussed patient’s situation I.e. personality, likes, dislikes, etc. She was very thorough and caring and understanding. The tour was great. We loved the 1-bedroom suite. Although a decision wasn’t made during the visit, this would be a highly likely contender.
She was only there for a short time but what I experienced was compassion to a degree that wasn't felt in any other facility, especially from the director. I think her name was [name removed]
Experience to-date has been exceptional. Caring, informative staff. Mother has no complaints. We chose this community based on the type of environment me felt our mother would choose. Nice, clean, friendly staff.
Sunrise takes care of loved ones! The rooms are beautiful, the food is excellent, the location is beautiful. It's a beautiful property, very clean. Overall, it has been a good experience. They communicate very well with families so they know what's going on. My loved one has a higher quality of life there.
Sunrise, like most facilities, is breathtakingly expensive. And it has some issues. But overall I'd recommend it. Here's why: Sunrise does two-person transfers. Very few personal care facilities offer this. It also hires RNs for the director of nursing--a major step up from the LPNs almost every other in town facility hires. The food is consistently fresh and flavorful. That's a big deal. Residents get a wide variety of choices daily with food, with servers who take their orders and serve them just like what you'd expect at a restaurant. Rooms are bright and modern. The facility also has safety features, like an automatic firewall, few facilities have, and it has routine emergency drills for residents and staff. Residents get meds on time and as prescribed. That doesn't sound like a big deal, but you'd be surprised at places where staff don't give meds as they're intended. Sunrise does. Sunrise does have some staffing issues. Staff can be inaccessible and occasionally abrasive. For the amount of money paid per month by residents, that simply shouldn't happen. Management is working to resolve staffing issues. No place is perfect. Sunrise does have some issues. But on the whole, it's a good facility that gives good care to residents. I recommend it.
Best place I have ever encountered for senior living
Sunrise of Louisville is the one that I'm interested in. It was beautiful and it was clean. The living area was beautiful and spacious, and there was a nice area for family get-togethers if we ever wanted to do that. All the staff members were nice. I was notified of special occasions and special activities, entertainment, and areas where my mom could do what she wanted. I don't have any bad words to say about it. The staff who gave me the tour was nice, very informative, very patient, and very knowledgeable.
Sunrise leadership and staff have been excellent in providing care to all their residents. They are incredibly knowledgeable of my companies services and are valuable partners in providing palliative and hospice care to those who are admitted into our programs.
What I appreciate most about Sunrise of Louisville is the staff. The administrative staff has been absolutely great, tenured and always receptive to outside services for their residents. [name removed] has put together a great team and I especially have a lot of respect for [name removed]. This ranking doesn't surprise me as they have earned it. Congratulations to [name removed] and her staff.
Sunrise of Louisville is very welcoming and inviting-from the moment you walk up to the front door! it is tastefully decorated with great lighting and is surrounded by beautiful, mature landscaping. The caregivers are genuine and hard working, the management is very approachable and easy to talk to. Sunrise can cater to all senior's needs. I love that they allow their residents to truly age in place, never having to worry about moving again. Activities are abundant and well thought out and planned. They also offer family nights and fantastic Sunday brunches-you won't find better tasting food, even at a restaurant. It is truly a great place to call home!
My father has made Sunrise his room for about six months now. He is so happy there and so are we. His room is very comfortable and the staff strives to meet all of his physical and emotional needs with care. From regular housekeeping to delicious home cooked meals daily. We are so grateful for this caring staff and creative activities team. Christmas as Sunrise has been especially joyful…from the beautiful decorations throughout the property to the many fun programs and activities. Thanks to the Sunrise team for making our dad feel like he is part of something special…..the lovely Sunrise community.
Sunrise Senior Living is the warm and fuzzy type of campus with caring staff that makes you feel at home when you walk in. They have several activities for their residents and stay involved in the community.
Sunrise of Louisville is a beautiful community inside and out. It sits among the trees, allowing a beautiful view outside the windows. There are numerous gathering spaces with seating both inside and out. It is well-maintained inside and out. The interior is beautifully decorated for each season. There is new outdoor as well as dining room furniture that is lovely. All of the staff that we have encountered have been very friendly and welcoming! They are very intentional in inviting my father to join in activities, as well as seating him with people for meals that he would have something in common with. The activities that we have attended with my father are well planned interesting and fun! It has been a great way for my father, and us to meet other people and families in the community. The food is delicious! We reserved the dining room for my father’s birthday. It was lovely! We felt like we were at a restaurant! Sunrise is dad’s new home! We are grateful for dad to be there!
Great experience and place to live! We were welcomed with friendly faces and kindness. The property was very clean and well kept, and I feel like the staff truly cares and want to help. If I could get 10 stars I would!
My parents have received great care at Sunrise. The staff are very friendly and attentive. Brandie Windsor always provides prompt answers to questions and concerns.
We had a wonderful, lovely family brunch at Sunrise today and it was absolutely fabulous. I thank you for bringing our families together for Sunday brunch
Wonderful staff! They treat the residents like human beings, and seem to genuinely care for both their physical and mental well being, as well as their dignity.
Our first brunch! It was so great and everyone enjoyed! The harp playing was lovely! Thx so much Brandi, Sandi and Team Sunrise!!
We have been very pleased by how attentive the staff is with my Mom.
They provide excellent care. We picked this community because It's the only place in three states that would take her.
Our Dad recently relocated to Sunrise of Louisville from his home of many years. The staff have been so encouraging at helping him acclimate. They are immediately responsive to his few request. The food is tasty with a nice variety. We all feel safe knowing Dad is being monitored by such a caring and knowledgeable family of caregivers. Thank you!
Sunrise of Louisville Senior Living is a total blessing our family. Brandie, Sandi, Seth and the entire Sunrise team is amazing. They have become an important extension of our family in no time. Thank you Sunrise for all you do to keep my dad happy, safe and feeling right at home. We couldn’t appreciate you any more. The Jerry Wimsatt Family.
Sunrise and its staff have made a difference in my mom's life. She is living a much better quality of life. Also, I have found the staff to be available to me with any questions or support we need.
My wife this week completes a full six years of residence on the memory floor of Sunrise of Louisville. In her six years she has been treated kindly and fed well. As her condition has deteriorated the care has expanded, along with the cost, but not unusually so. Her first room was rather luxurious, with spectacular views on two sides, and plenty of room for her frequent visitors. As her communication has faded and visitors have disappeared, Sunrise allowed a move to a smaller, less expensive room, which helped not only the financial outlay but also the house keeping. My opinion of Sunrise continues to be very positive.
I'm very grateful to them. The value, I almost gave them a 4, but they were comparable to other places. It's just expensive no matter where you go. The people who worked with my mother in personal care really did treat her with respect and love. They communicated well with me, and treated me and my siblings with respect. They were wonderful in the last week especially and allowed us to stay as long as we wanted before she passed. We had a very positive experience at Sunrise. My mother was respected, loved, and was safe. It eased our minds. The staff is friendly and helpful, and respectful. I would recommend to anyone needing a safe loving environment for their aging parent.
Sunrise has been a blessing for my Dad. He was very well taken care of into his final days with love and compassion. A clean and very well run facility, with great food and a caring staff. Dad had Dementia and lived on the 3rd floor. They handled his challenges beautifully. I was able to put my mind at ease knowing he was ok with them and they loved him well.
What we really like about Sunrise of Louisville is the staff, the way staff treats the residence is exceptional and you can see the care in their hearts. And they work hard to include everyone. However, there are times when response times are poor. Staffing may be a little low but all in all they do a great job and I have no complaints.
We went to Sunrise of Louisville. The facility was awesome. I would want to live there when I retire. The only thing that kept us from choosing them is that their memory care is on the third floor. One of the things my mother-in-law wanted was a nice place to go out like a nice green space courtyard area to go out. They have lovely balconies, but that's not what she wanted. They had everything. The facility was magnificent. But as a memory care patient, I would not want to be on the third floor. My mother-in-law is wheelchair-bound, and I can't imagine trying to get them off the third floor in an emergency situation, and that was the only reason why we did not pick them.
Our family had an in person tour with Sunrise of Louisville and we thought overall it was a really nice tour experience as well as the staff being friendly. We were able to meet with their activities director who was very impressive and the community it pet friendly .
We moved our 97 y/o mother here during an especially difficult week - a COVID outbreak occurred among the staff and stormy weather forced two power failures, one for nearly three days. In spite of these challenges, staff supported our move and welcomed Mom into the community. The shorthanded staff went about their work cheerfully and compassionately as if nothing was amiss. To me, that’s a sign of great leadership on the part of the executive director.
We had a nice tour of Sunrise of Louisville, and it was a very close second choice for us. The only staff I met were the sales person and a custodian, but both were very nice. In touring different facilities, I seemed to find two types of places: 1) the Cadillacs of senior care, or 2) terrible places for still a lot of money. Sunrise of Louisville was definitely a Cadillac. It was just a little farther away form where I live. But I was very Impressed with it.
My uncle just moved to Sunrise of Louisville. I've never come and caught him in his room. He's always been out in the common area when they're involved in games and they get him active in it. There's somebody pretty much helping him and right with him almost all the time. He is in memory care and he gets more personal care there. So far, it's been a much better place than where he came from. The staff is friendly and helpful. They're pretty much Johnny on the spot. Their food has been excellent, too.
This is a horrible place!
A really good friend of ours had a loved one at the community for many years and with their health at times it made them a difficult patients, but the staff were able to handle and manage the care and for us that was a big deciding factor for our loved ones. Also Sunrise is a fireproof community so we like that our loved ones would not have to evacuate. From what we see of the activities calendar there seems to be a lot offered. There have been some silly bumps in the road but also there is a lot of nice things about this community.
Absolutely Gorgeous setting and Very Clean, Very Quiet homelike setting
There are not to many activities on the memory care side, and they could work on improving their overall friendliness, helpfulness and cooperation. Sometimes when we ask them to do things it does not get done.
We toured with Sunrise of Louisville and it went great - we really liked everything that we saw. The atmosphere was vibrant and they seemed to have a lot of great amenities offered for the residents. It was up to my brother and he decided on another facility, but this was one of our top favorites.
My mother was a resident for 2 years. She had to replace her own bed for a state single frame. Her queen bed put in facility & shud know where these items went to when moved. Beweare if you have a furniture piece removed they don't know where it went neverr saw again person in charge advised were to pu the headboard but advised we would take it in janauary. All the sudden person in facility position has no idea where it was moved to. If your in charge (brandi) you shud know what ur staff has done to it when moved. Never was able to get answer where it was moved too. Could not trust any more with answer we don't keep storage and don't know where it is. Understanding w come & pu in Nov. Asked to wait until Jan. When we had a hers her bed was nno where. This facility are thieves. Also necklace stolen she wore for the years she stayed there. Never removed from her neck until day she moved
