Reviews
for The Willows at Hamburg
We have been here for 8 days while undergoing rehab for my 78 yr old mom and already feel like part of this centers family! Mom broke both hips and both bones in her wrist during a traumatic fall and has needed assistance with everything! The staff here has been EXTREMELY attentive to her for everything from toileting, moving from place to place, medication needs, clothing, and a whole list of others! They treat her like their mom! They also take time to answer any questions I might have and are very attentive to any of my concerns for her overall health! Her physical therapy is above expectations and really go above and beyond to make sure she is understanding and confident in what she is being asked to do. Feeling safe at this point is very important to her considering the trauma she experienced. The staff here at The Willows is doing an A+ job at making that a reality every day! I couldn’t have asked for a better Place for my mom at this time.
Amazing facility: kind staff, ability to care for family member as they age without having to go to a different facility with senior living, memory care, and skilled nursing.
Wonderful staff! Very attentive and kind.
The Willows staff, nurses, assistants, therapists, and many others (there) have been amazing. They have been so good to my Mom and take wonderful care of her. I appreciate their concerns for their patients. There a plenty events available for everyone to attend and have a good time collectively. I highly recommend The Willows at Hamburg. Amazing people who care!
If you need alot of help don't go to this place if not it's really nice most of the nurses are kind and helpful but it can take 30 to 45 minutes to get help. The inside is clean and they have alot of activities for the residents.
Please know how exceptional The Willows at Hamburg is. Three years ago, after evaluating all local health-care facilities, I chose The Willows at Hamburg for my sister with serious health issues. What a wise choice. I've been deeply touched over and over by the kindness I've seen to each resident. The entire staff love, value, and treat each patient with care and dignity. The Director, the Administrator, the Head of Nursing, the Asst. Head of Nursing, the Physician and P.A., the Social Worker, the Business Manager and those who assist her, the Nurses, the Occupational and Physical Therapists, the Care Staff, the Chefs, the Maintenance staff, the Laundry Staff, the Cleaning staff, and the Hair Salon staff--each one of these extraordinary people excel in their fields and in their care of their residents. My sister has been in the Willows at Hamburg Legacy Memory Care building for two years now, under the Directorship of Sally Fitch, who is an extraordinarily amazing director. She cares deeply about each resident and about her valued staff members. She always does what is right, as do all the workers there that I cherish. How did my sister and I get so lucky to have found her this exceptional home for her final years?
My father in law was here for several years in the Memory Care unit. The staff treated him just like family and we could not have been happier with our experience. We highly recommend them and will never forget their kindness and attention to our loved one.
The residents is what makes you five star ...over the years there have been wonderful workers but most are gone the direction has definitely changed but the residents still get a five star from me
My mother was there from 9/2014 - 7/2015. NO better staff, residents or care! I never had to worry about her for one moment. They always kept me informed and part of her care team. Several staff became family, Tiffany, Rebecca, Danielle, Vivian, Brenda, Betty, Kevin, Jeremy, Pam, Peggy, Joann and I could keep going! That was our second home for a period of time and still have a soft place in my heart! I am proud and sad to say she took her last breath there with us and her extended family and we wouldn’t have it any other way!
This review is for skilled nursing. We literally just moved in, now, they tell us the price is going up January 1st, $400 per month. Now we are back on the hunt to find another facility. I don't think that was very kind of them not to tell the families just now moving in, and give them the opportunity to go someplace else. A $400 a month increase is outrageous. Do your homework before moving in, as there are less expensive, yet more capable facilities out there. Willows increases their prices dramatically once every year, whereas others do not increase but every 2-3 years. Unless you're a millionaire, and can afford this, keep going.
Those 2 stars go to the staff, who were always kind and compassionate. But even they admitted that they did not have the staffing to properly care for the residents. Apparently corporate is more concerned about the $$. If you have an independent resident, then you will be happy here,;my Mother-i-law was falling through the cracks (It's called Personal Care, not independent living!) I found Mom with 2 Depends on- no one monitored this as she dressed herself. I would raise the blinds when I visited and 2 days later they would still be up- no one took the time to raise or lower. There are other examples as well. These are just little things but they matter to us. Also my mother-i-law was diabetic and they had no diabetic menu. Which is amazing considering many seniors have an issue with blood sugar. Her weight went up while there, as did her blood sugar; their solution was to consider adding insulin, rather than changing her diet. This has the potential to be a great facility if they would add a few more staff.
Great food and really friendly staff members. Always great service from the dining staff and the nurses are the best in town. Always recommend the staff at Yhe Willows
This facility is fairly new and it seems very nice. I just ate lunch there with my mother in-law. I would like to know who is in charge of the nutrition there. Almost everything on the menu was some sort of processed food, and the tomato soup (if you can call it that) was extremely spicy, especially with the pepper, and very thick. Considering that most of inhabitants are elderly, I would think any food nutritionist would stick to simple whole foods and dishes for the bulk of the meals, and keep processed foods as treats and to supplement the meal, but not dominate. I could do a better job and I am not a trained professional, but I am someone that cares about myself and my diet. There were four people at our table and no one liked the soup at all. If staff or management reads this then please consider firing your nutritionist. I am available. I know I can do a better job. The food there has been marginal at best. I got better from the school cafeteria when I was used to be in school.
The Willows at Hamburg is more of a nursing home. The residents have their own rooms to live in, but they're not apartments. The staff was quite nice, welcoming, and explained things as they showed us around. They have activities in one of the big fellowship rooms. I didn't like that there was a distinct smell of nursing home in the private rooms. They gave me a little welcome cake when I came in.
My mother lived at the Willows for over two years. As her health declined, the staff helped ease the transitions needed for more extensive assistance. At every step, they were so kind and professional. They met my mom's needs for care and security, as well as my concerns. I have recommended Willows of Hamburg for those needing short term rehab, or long term care.
My mother-in-law was a resident of the skilled nursing wing at The Willows - Hamburg for about a year in total. She spent a few months there, then was able to come home only to return at a later date. We were very pleased with the level of care and compassion she received while there. Everything was not 100% all the time, but in comparison to some of the facilities we visited before entering her at The Willows, and some of the horror stories we heard about other facilities and the care provided, we cannot imagine there was a better place to meet her needs. Maybe some as good, but none better. We were very pleased with the cleanliness of the facility, the variety of services offered, from hair salon to physical therapy and more, as well as the friendly and efficient staff. Can't say enough about The Willows at Hamburg. If there should ever come a time to consider institutional care for yourself or a loved one, give The Willows at Hamburg very serious consideration.
This was a very nice facility. Clean, good food. [Removed], the director is wonderful, however they could no longer manage him as he has become violent.
This facility is fairly new and seems to be a very nice facility. The staff was friendly. There was a musical event going on during the end of my tour. The call system is limited to wall units without the ability to have a device worn on the body and since my family member is prone to falls I see this as a negative. There seems to be a communication system similar to email that is built into the TV system. I don't know if my family member would be able to learn the system or not. But it could be different way to communicate which I have a problem with currently. I was incorrectly led to believe that there was a one bedroom unit available prior to my visit. The unit I was shown was a fair amount smaller than what I was looking for. I skipped seeing the Willows at Citation for this reason.
People, people, you'd better check this place out thoroughly. DO NOT be fooled by first appearances. I only wish they put more effort into their patient care, communication with family, cleanliness of their patients and their rooms, food, nurse to patient ratio and that is to name a few. My loved one has suffered and suffered, asked several times to be moved. We were in the process of making the move and illness struck again making a move impossible. Loved one has been in the hospital at least 3 times since being there, fallen out of bed and laid on the floor screaming for help. There are no bed alarms, hygiene is terrible....feces under fingernails and other skin rashes in private parts. On the weekend's patient care is nominal. Good Luck finding someone! There is soooo much more. Guess there is a reason why they can't keep a decent director. We have seen at least 3 in 3 years. This place is a nightmare.
My sister was at The Willows in The Legacy Building. I knew the minute I went in the Legacy our prayers had been answered. A young lady named Danielle took us to see the building. She knew the name of each resident and their story. The building is beautiful and clean. The nurses and Techs, the cooks and and house keepers were awesome. We fell in love with the staff and the residents. Once there was an issue with a nurse who should not have been with Alzheimer's patients. She was gone next day. They went riding in their bus, had awesome recreation staff. Time came when my sister was dying, Hospice took over her care with legacy staff. They treated my sister so beautifully I get tears. The last day, everything went beautifully. Staff that was off came to be with us. Tina, Jordon, and Michelle held me and Cheryl her daughter. Jordon cleaned her up and I walked back in. Jordon said I hope you don't mind but I shaved her legs because I know Margie would want to look good. Precious girls all of them. Keisha,Sally, Belinda, Christian,Tracy, the cooks, all were so good with her. The nurse on duty that day was precious. We gave her Margie's big Tiger. I hope you see The legacy is a good place to take your loved one. As they change they become rascals and go in others rooms and do some silly things. Things they would never do before. I can tell you this illness is so sad to watch. Your heart will break but when it ends it is a blessing. I know I have left off some names, but you all know Cheryl and I love you and Thank you.
I like the care from the community for my father. They staff have improvment alot. This is a clean community and he enjoys the grounds. The menu is very good and alot of choices. They have a nice variety of good meals that he really likes. This is a community we have recommend to other families for good care and value that is recevived.and good care.
It was very clean here but there wasn't really anything that stood out. I think it at this point in our search we had already made up our mind on another community. There was nothing wrong with The Willows.
This was a great community. I looked like a mini hotel. The staff was great and they did a good job with mom. We loved the staff and the residents that were there. That is why we liked this place so much. The people were great all around.
