New Information About COVID-19 Test Kits and PPE

As we discussed on our virtual roundtable call on Tuesday, we know that you are in need of information regarding test kits and PPE availability.

For test kits, we have one provider that has been proven, tested and approved by the FDA. It is:

Pricing: All patient insurance - covers COVID-19

Direct Client (facility) - bill $105/COVID-19

Patient Cash Pay (no insurance) - bill the resident $105

Jim Britt, Executive Director at Charter Senior Living Bowling Green, mentioned their use of Zip Clinic in Bowling Green for testing employees rather than sending them home to quarantine for 14 days. Many on the call wanted to know the cost of this service and he sent us the following information:

Complicated answer, but the test is $150, but could possibly be lowered to $70 once billing is received by the communities. We are also being charged either $65 or $85 for the visit, depending if that patient is new to Zip Clinic or not. Zip Clinic is also delaying sending the billing out for 30 days or so in hopes that the government will end up covering these costs.

Bob received a call from one of our members last Wednesday, asking if they need to get a waiver from the state to provide testing for COVID-19 in the community. Bob called DAIL for their answer to this question and received an email from Buddy Hoskinson that said, "no waiver is needed as we are in a pandemic." Buddy sent this in writing, which is better than a verbal response.
